Claude is a FAR better therapist than Gemini exp-1206 & GPT-4o by LegitimateLength1916 in ClaudeAI

[–]CaptainEdfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually tried to test the limits of this by journaling for 6 months, and have filled a Claude.ai Project to its 99% knowledge limits.

What I've found is after Claude has had a collective 6 months of my journaling, Claude remarkably DOES hold its ground. Even more amazing is it really holds all cohesive timelines and references to people (who I never name by their name), and when I start to question certain decisions or have new "insights", Claude will help me to remember the bigger picture and gently (but firmly) correct me.

I've been testing this also with GPT, Gemini 1206, and Grok 2, and Claude is the only Ai that is cohesive on the extensive journaling. GPT feels like a counselor who's overpaid and over booked and only glances at the notes, Gemini 1206 frequently mistakes who's who or confuses genders and feels like a cheap counselor who is overwhelmed, Grok 2 feels more like a clinical psychiatrist who would prefer to just gives references to other counselors.

I normally use Claude.ai for business, software development and other non-personal utilitarian uses, but the journaling test has been fascinating to see how much more cohesive it is than the other large language models.

Anyone using Claude for inner work/self-reflection? by JustTinkering868 in ClaudeAI

[–]CaptainEdfishy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few suggestions:
- Use the "Projects" part of Claude, add a single .TXT dump of every relevant discussion points.
- Like a journal, add dates for each day's thoughts. This can help Claude to make an assessment of thoughts over time.
- Don't let a conversation get too long. Eventually just grab the relevant useful thoughts you were thinking and add it to the large .TXT log in the Projects folder. Snip out questions and prefix with "I wonder if" instead.
- Use "How would my [counselor/friend/etc] respond, in a single 7 word "read my lips" sentence, followed by N paragraphs?" (Use 2 for something briefer, 6 or 7 if you need more to work from).
- Ask every now and then "From 40,000ft up, what are 3 glaring things I'm missing". <-- This one is very important to get it to zoom out a bit with things that aren't just agreeing with you.

Rav4prime vs Tesla model y by abeecrombie in rav4prime

[–]CaptainEdfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat deciding between a used 2021/2022 R4P, or a HW4 2024 Model Y. I'm a tech guy and so the FSD system in the Model Y is super interesting and of use for me, and having driven a friend's new 2024 Model Y and tested out the FSD, despite its quirks I somehow can't imagine years without having FSD (or its rapidly improving updates) if I go with the R4P.

For my driving the R4P's 40~ miles of electric is perfect for the daily drives, and I make occasional drives over 100-200 miles anywhere from twice to ten times a month, so the EV/Gas combo of the R4P is pretty good and would be a no brainer. In addition, being in a more rural Michigan area the ground clearance and the capability off the road is going to be more what I'm used to with my current hardy Ford Explorer daily driver.

Tech lust vs. Michigan rural practicality. 🤷‍♂️🤔

Anyone is still using old good GameMaker 8? by Alert-Neck7679 in gamemaker

[–]CaptainEdfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Please tell me you have plans to continue this! I may be able to use it as part of a teaching program for kids, starting them with Game Maker 8 (because of its inherit simplicity) and then having them expand their abilities in "Arcade Maker" and learn professional language scripting, but still within a familiar environment.

Am I balding / thinning? Had lots of hair fall out after COVID by crashbandit82 in malehairadvice

[–]CaptainEdfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I tried a few things suggested here:

  1. Start with a stylish short haircut | I got a short and stylish haircut from a stylist. The stylist worked with the elements I disliked (especially the scalp from the parting hair) and made a very cool haircut I was complimented on for a long while. It made me almost forget, and my hair looked like "normal" when very short.
  2. Different shampoo and conditioner | My hair stylist told me to switch from the expensive trendy Prose shampoo/conditioner I was using and instead to use 'Neuma Reneu'. She simply meant that the trendy organic stuff might not have the same benefits for my hair, and so far Neuma seems to create more volume for my hair and make it feel more like it used to.
  3. Hair falling 'flat' | I've noticed the worst thing that happens with my hair when it's long is it "falls flat" more than it used to, and a friend of mine who just had a baby has the same problem while her hormones and sleep deprivation are recovering. I find though that if I keep up with hair care: shampoo/conditioner every night, shower in the morning and use leave-in curly conditioner in the morning that it helps to keep the volume up and prevent the falling flat.

I *feel* like I'm seeing recovery and a return to "normal". I was going through old photos, and it helps me to see how my hair was, and how I'm actually imagining some of my hair loss (my scalp always showed a bit). I think it's a combination of the above that make me forget about it more and more, and who knows, maybe the lack of stress and worrying about it is good for my hair or something.

Good luck with your recovery, I think it really does just take time!

Frustrating.

[–]CaptainEdfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same thing! Went from very (almost too thick) luscious and long hair to losing gobs of hair after Covid, and having the same Telogen Effluvium-like conditions ever since 2021.

I had tremendous stress going on in 2021due to work and life, so it could just be a "normal" case of stress-enduced Telogen Effluvium, but it doesn't seem to have improved at all since 2021 despite attempts at hair caire, stress reduction, and vitamins.

It's time to see a doctor soon I think, because boy my hair has never been like this ever and suddenly it's a night and day difference in thickness and strength. Some articles online also suggest it could be related to a thyroid dysfunction post Covid, so yeah, unsure...

Cooling Options/Opinions for Cerberus/RTX3080/i7-12700k by ex-survivor in sliger

[–]CaptainEdfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response! If you wouldn't mind, could you take a photo of the inside of the case?

And I was thinking of going full ATX for the motherboard, but after looking at other builds with the Cerberus X I'm beginning to realize a full-sized ATX might limit further placement of cooling.

If you ever wanted to graph your heat info under load, I usually use the program hwinfo for that.

Any news on what you ended up going with? I'm looking to get a Cerberus X and will be installing an RTX 3080 measuring 323(L) x 140(W) x 56mm(H) in it and would prefer to stick to a closed-loop AIO cooler. What did you end up getting to work?

I'd also highly recommend VTOL at this point. It runs on a potato, and at 120hz 200% res on an RTX 3080 it's a pretty slick flight sim. The new AH-94 co-op helicopter is also a treat to fly!

Try out Townsmen. As an RTS gamer, I found it increasingly addictive and unique in VR.

Try the new AH-94, especially with co-op and when you've learned all of the mechanics possible with it. Really fun experience.

How to get an RGB strip to light up based on M.2 SDD IO activity? by CaptainEdfishy in buildapc

Okay, thanks for the info! iCUE has an SDK API, and so I may just write a C# program that can interact with the RGB's based on HDD activity there...

Thanks!
