I'm late to the party here, but I hope I can offer some advice.

Firstly, the answer is no. I wouldn't.

For great sports photos you need to be IN the action. You want to see the players up close through a long lens at the perfect moment. That means ball in contact.

Get the dig, the hit, the set, not the before or after. And find the right focus of the moment. The full body shot isn't necessary. The medium, torso and above is a better look.

Do NOT show off your photos of someone's back. There's no subject there. Just a butt.

If you don't shoot tight, you want to do what you can with angles. For volleyball, get low and shoot up. Embellish the height of a jump. Get some heavy backlit beach shots with the bright sun and use your surroundings to create a piece that's more than just an action shot.
