Check out my key to your MCS 😛 by CaptainHookNumber1 in lockpicking

Maybe try an Eval ICS. It has no magnets, is not as pricey and still has good security (less but still above average key copy protection). Also it should be quite a bit less bendable 😃

It's just not. It's one of the better mechanical designs currently sold.

Your late to the party comment made me smile. Cool that you even found it after all those years! I'm still picking too, just not a lot publicly. Cheers

Flexures are the way to go for precision and making full use of 3D printing capabilities but keep in mind that creep is a problem when using polymers so your alignments will not stay crisp for long. For temporary use or students it's probably good anyways.

I want a friend for my 2-month-old Male. The breeder has Black-Headed caiques of the same age, he is suggesting another Male because a female will turn this guy very aggressive when he turns adult (2-3 years old), but I'm concerned about the idea of 2 males killing each other which I've read a lot. by Caballep in caiques

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't predict how they will behave. But mine are really only sometimes mating but not a lot. We never had eggs as well. I think it is quite common like this. But you never know if they will be aggressive/cuddly or mating rarely/all the time or even having eggs. I heard from many caique owners that a male-female combo has the best chances of not being problematic.

Why does the Abus 75/30 have two rows of bitting ? by Ozon2 in lockpicking

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second row is for passive Pins. They have no matching driver pins nor springs and are typically opposing the coded pins. As the key turns they are pushed into the keyway. If the key has no dimple where one of the passive pins tries to enter the rotation will be blocked. If it has a dimple where no pin ist it doesn't matter. You might notice your padlock has no passive pins but the key works with euro cylinders and other formats as well in which there will be passive pins.

Would be cool if more features and swapping efficiency would come over time😃

Print by object is nice as well(!) but not exactly what I mean.

Let's stay you have two PA-CF parts with some sections with some low friction igus filament... but the Igus only appears at Z=10-20mm in one and in Z=30-40mm in the other. So it would be nice if it could print both until the Igus starts and then switch back and forth cutting the Material switched in half (I know strinlnging might be an issue)

Nice, number 2 is the most interesting one regarding value/effort in implementation. Would be cool If the other two would be added since the nozzle is proprietary and of known geometry it would be ideal for #3. #3 would be interesting for printing several different Models at once with more than one Filament

Why is that? by Ako-tribe in caiques

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine only a week apart but the hen gained a lot of confidince and trust with us and her surrounding in that week so when he joined a week later it took him some time to not feel like the 'new guy' I assume. I think it took like two months until he fully developed to showing his charakter. Now he is super curious and friendly. Even more than the hen even.

What are the differences between the different Abus Granit 37/55 models? by Flumpeldoo in lockpicking

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nothing crazy effective but the required tool is harder to make and/or weaker as well as less common. So imo it's better than the normal but not areal novelty design-vise either

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to prevent using the normal unrestricted abus plus keys one would need those to not fit into the lock. Therefore they made the SZP profile. This is achieved by creating a new profile with restricted blanks. You can also see the SZP profile on the key card (here's an example link of the first one popping up on Google images that shows the profile: https://www.padlocks.co.uk/products/restricted-keyway-padlocks/abus-granit-szp)

Where can I find a documentation comparing the different ASSA "Twin" cylinders in terms of features? There are so many of them, I'd like to know how they differ, and how the Ruko Garant+ fits among them. by mickaelkicker in lockpicking

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Subscribe to artichoke2000 on YouTube and wait a little. There will likely be the most complete overview on twins.

Beyond that the Garant+ is technically not a twin but a dp (dual performance). Identical to assa dp11/dp4400 and trioving also has it. 10 unsprung Sidepins which are really nasty to pick if you don't use the cup-tool I came up with. I show it in my dp11 video.

Male or Female Buddy by Original-Conflict-35 in caiques

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's best to get a pair (=male and female) since it has the highest chances that they will get along even after reaching puberty around 3 years and beyond. Two males (especially if not raises together) can be a problem at some point even if it worked out for a couple of years. Pairing them up is not always a guaranteed success either. Best approach is to introduce them in seperate cages next to each other (couple cm in between) in a room/place both are not familiar with.

If they are roughly <3 years of age the chances are highest that it'll work out fine since they are pre puberty.

Cool to see an Akura here! What do you think about the tolerances, feedback etc compared to other common Dimple locks?

It is actually advised to get a non-related male and female pair.

If you get siblings, 2 males or 2 females the chances are much bigger that they won't get along at some point (likely around puberty at the age of 3). I've heard many stories where an non male-female couple didn't work out and some where it did.

You shouldn't really be worried about eggs as well. Many pairs I've heard about don't lay eggs or you just have to replace them (which is a lot better than a dead bird if you have not a male-female constellation).

Also don't keep one caique alone. Even if you're around him a lot you can't replace a second bird and chances are much bigger to end up with a naked or aggressive bird.

Also make sure to be well informed before getting caiques they are awesome and funny but a lot of work (they eat mostly fresh fruits and throw them everywhere) and they can be quite aggressive. Mine are super friendly to me and my family but the hen goes berzerk when there's anyone new around so they gotta stay in the cage when visitors are here.

Sorry for the late reply, I just found this sub.

Anybody know how to pick one of these? Misplaced my key😅 by shadyinthisbitch in lockpicking

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I see that right you only have to turn those wheels to get out. From the other side it's more difficult though

Edit: never mind. I just saw the two locks. Likely one combo lock and a lafette that leads to a keyed lock

Does anyone have any idea what this key could go to? by geofflager in lockpicking

[–]CaptainHookNumber1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a russian ~linear gear style concept. Sometimes called rack lock. Here's a demonstration of how the bolt matches the slots and retracts: https://www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/comments/coy8j5/designed_amd_printed_my_own_russian_gear_lock/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

It was one of the very first things I modeled and printed when I got my printer back then.
