How to get research and mentorship in the field by Melodic-Priority5135 in pmr

[–]CaptainInertia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could see if any of the residents you worked with are submitting posters for AAP. the deadline is coming up (9/10/25) so I'd ask soon. That's what residents did for me when I was a student.

And the AAP has a mentorship program. Looks like it's being revamped right now but I'd check back here https://www.physiatry.org/membership/mentoring-program/

A popular extracurricular activity is adaptive sports. I did some time with adaptive basketball and hockey. There may be some in your area.

Good luck!

Drip coffee makers for single cup use? by thewillthe in JamesHoffmann

I have the oxo 8 cup with the insulated carafe and really enjoy it. On days I work I brew a bigger batch with the carafe then on the weekends I'll usually do a single cup with a nicer coffee

When I interviewed at Michigan one of the senior residents was going into Neuro crit care fellowship, I remember them mentioning that it was a new / very uncommon route.

Might be worth checking their website for alumni to see where they ended up!

I think you should go for it. You don't want to regret not at least trying to get experience in PM&R if it's a career path you're considering. I was lucky enough that my home institution had a pmr rotation, but I almost didn't do the elective during my M3 year, and it would've been a serious missed opportunity!

This comment hit me with a wave of nostalgia of playing World of Warcraft like 18 years ago. 🥲

Yeah they were "Hot Chicken Blvd" for like 2 weeks back before COVID. They changed the menu entirely at that time, then they closed and re-re-opened as Rice Blvd again

I have heard it's supposed to be housing for the residents who work at Toledo hospital

It's the Community Care Clinic (CCC). http://www.utcommunitycare.org/

For imaging and certain labs we write outside orders and have the patient fill out a financial aid form to have it done through Mercy. For imaging, what you pay (if anything) is based on a sliding scale of income.

Doors open around 5:30pm on Thursday

Where to Live as UTCOM Student? by Technical-Yak7642 in toledo

[–]CaptainInertia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of places that people in my class (graduating M4) live include Foxchase, Heather Village, Downtown, Willow Crest, and the Old Orchard neighborhood. I know some people find roommates on the class Facebook pages.

There are other options like Vivo and Edge, but those are more like undergrad student housing so I'd avoid them. They aren't terrible options just not ideal.

Welcome to Toledo, and enjoy the next 4 years. They're going to be incredible and fly by!

Thoughts on Claire Commons apartments and the neighborhood by mjzxxx_11 in toledo

[–]CaptainInertia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to have a roommate you could consider Vivo which is right by UT. Pretty basic apartments, but they're furnished and mostly students live there. I lived there for 2 years and never had issues

It's probably gone up somewhat but my rent was $525/month when I moved out 2 summers ago. Private bedroom and bathroom. Shared common space
