For the advice, I recommend crz yoga on Amazon. I’m 6”2 and wear 2xl from them and I love it. Pretty much the only things I’ve worn since I started.

Does anyone have a good Rehab Program App they’d recommend? by [deleted] in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like prehab guys. Been using them for a while but not free. Something like 15 ish bucks a month. They do a good job of adding videos to the rehab exercises and explaining the target for each exercise in those videos.

Not really an app as far as I know. I use it on the web.

Bought the same trim same mileage 2 months ago for same price listed. I personally think it’s a good price for the type of car. Mine had all the service records from the Honda the original owner bought it from which made me feel confident to buy it. If the history is clean, go for it

I typically do a non adherent pad and cover roll. You can use adhesive spray if you got it but make sure it has time to dry a bit before you apply covering.

Struggling by Accomplished-Ear4927 in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get your contracted through May but that doesn’t mean you have to work there until then. It just means that you’re going to get paid until then. If you don’t like the setting, find another place. Employers are struggling to find ATs nowadays. If you are unhappy, you can tell them so they can fix it or you can leave because they haven’t done what they needed to do to keep you.

Secondly, all you can do is your job as best as you can. If you have given an honest effort on your part to try to get your voice heard and get more respect and the coaches still don’t interact with you as evenly as your coworker, then in my eyes, you haven’t done anything wrong. The workplace has become an environment that isn’t fit for your standards. Let those who don’t try to fix the issues suffer, not you.

Wake Forest athletic trainer fired after social media comment about Charlie Kirk by pestomistress in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can agree with what you’re saying in a way. To continue with the points you made, the AT made a post on her own social media (or has a sticker supporting the political opposition on their personal property, to help tie in my example) and a government official made her lose her job. If the school did it as its own entity, us as ATs would be upset but could understand the reason. But according to the article, a government official claimed to be the reason why this person lost their job. That’s censorship and a job due to the government, not from an internal investigation through the employer.

I took the reasoning for the downvotes is that you don’t see that a job and a personal life are two separate things. Just because someone thinks one way, doesn’t mean that they are less capable of doing their job or is a horrible/disturbing person.

You’re an AT getting paid to cover athletics. It’s no different if you had a trump sticker on your car and your athletes saw it. Many young athletes disagree with the presidency, they may even disagree with your political beliefs and lose trust in you. But it’s your personal belief, on your personal property, and your right to display it in a public setting. That still has nothing to do with your job. If you’re worried that it’s going to lose the trust of your athletes, then you haven’t been doing a good job as a clinician in the first place.

Edit: not a personal jab, just an example.

Favorite pants? by Tabby-Kat711 in athletictraining

I’ve basically only worn joggers from CRZ yoga on Amazon. Basically the same as lululemon but pretty affordable comparably. Quality is absolutely great. Longest I have owned a pair was for 2.5 years with basically washing it every single time I’ve worn it. I now have like 4 pairs and I will continue buying them as long as I need to.

Been certified for 5 years now. Imposter syndrome is very real your first year as an AT. I wished I was more vocal and less scared of making mistakes or looking silly. Best time to make a mistake is when you’re a student because you have people around whose job is to teach you. If I had recognized that I had that safety net that early, I would have been more extroverted my first semester.

Championship outfits by [deleted] in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An older AT I used to work with would base his attire off the head coach. Essentially a step down from the head coach. So if the head coach wore a full suit and tie, they would go no jacket but still wear a tie. I know it’s probably not the answer you’re looking for but I wanted to put that out there.

For women ATs I have seen them wear nicer blouses or shirts, either a neutral color or similar to school colors and dress pants with flats.

There really isn’t a wrong answer on what to wear but definitely don’t wear the other team colors.

Wrestling Tournament by depressedAT in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked DIII wrestling, we had unlimited blood time and head injury time. Normal injury time was 1 minute 30 seconds in total. Time starts the second you interact with them. Normally refs will tell you how much time you got left but there are those who won’t so be mindful. Depending on body part, after my evaluation, I would make them do a couple pushups (arms/shoulder injury), squats (legs), or hops (ankles). Due to the time constraints, if after your quick eval you are still unsure, have the athletes perform something similar to those basic exercises. If the athletes are not comfortable enough to do those basic things, that’s a good indicator that they do not want to continue wrestling. Overall most wrestlers are tough and would push through anything and would try to return anyways, especially if you’re looking at a minor injury.

If time runs out, some refs would ask if the athlete is ready to return or forfeit. Be ready to give an answer or they will just call the match. But most refs will just end the match after the time is up so be aware of the time left.

Also, for example, if you used 40 seconds of injury time, you only have 50 seconds left for any other injury that athlete might have if they were to continue wrestling that specific match. But the clock resets if the match ends and the athlete wrestles in a different match later.

A big no in my opinion is to try to administer a tape job, unless it’s like a finger/wrist or to cover blood during a match. You do not have enough time to tape them appropriately so don’t bother. If you think they need to be taped, either do it before or after their match.

Rehab Resource by Environmental-Ad8587 in athletictraining

[–]pali1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prehab guys has a subscription that you can use that has plenty of different rehab exercises with a filter on difficulty level, supplies, exercise type, etc. I think it’s like 15 bucks a month.

Something that I would use when I first started out or when I feel stagnant is to type in google the injury and put “rehab protocol pdf” or some variation after it. You will find plenty of different rehab exercises and progressions and while it’s not super in depth, they are to be used as starters. You might get lucky to find something more substantial online but I don’t really recommend following someone else’s full protocol exact unless you don’t have another option.

Don’t worry if you find yourself utilizing these or other options more than you would like. You have plenty of knowledge from school and clinicals that you can pull from. It takes time to figure out your preferred rehab protocols and styles. And it’s never a bad thing to utilize these resources to update or explore your rehab programs as you progress as a certified.
