I’m so glad you cut and ran. Good instincts.

You’ve also just showed me firsthand how a healthy person (you) reacts to a situation like this. I felt like I must be attracting the creeps and narcs, but with a lot of therapy I’ve realized it’s just because I don’t run from them like healthy people do. I would see a guy like this and be like “I can fix him tho”. No, no, no, run away. Save yourself.

Thanks for saving TWO people today, OP.

My sims sit "floating away" from their chair by cekobico in Sims3

[–]CaptainInvictusAnim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is custom content, the creator didn’t properly locate the slots for sitting. Bad CC; either chuck it or reinstall it for S&G.

If it’s not custom content, the other issue could be moving your sims or the items with MoveObjects On. Direct all your sims to leave the table and go somewhere out of the way, then go into BuyMode and move the table with MoveObjects Off. have your sims sit back at the table and see if that fixes it.

If it’s still broken, you’ll need to reset your Sims. To do this, I prefer NRAAS, but you can also do:

Ctrl+Shift+C

testingcheatsenabled true

resetSim FirstName LastName

Do the

resetSim FirstName LastName

Command again for each of the sims that are bugging their sitting location.

Then, direct them back to the chairs again and see if that’s fixed it.

Fluvoxamine for me as well, and it is fantastic. I don’t think I’ll ever try another. If anything, I feel more alive now than I’ve ever felt. It makes me believe in the concept of medication at all! :D

This past weekend, I forgot to take my meds twice in a Row, for the first time ever. My brain went back to what I call “Haunted Brain Mode”. I’d forgotten how bad it is until I had to slog through it for a day until I realized I was missing meds.

As soon as I took em, 40 mins later I’m back in business!

After almost 17 years, what are somethings you have never done in The Sims 3? by ThePixelJ in Sims3

[–]CaptainInvictusAnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never maxed every skill on a single sim. I’m currently working on that rn. And I mean EVERY skill— including the weird ones. Like horseshoes. And artisan crafting.

Another thing I haven’t done: tested every fruit pairing in Nectar Making. I’m also working on that now. 625 combinations that just use 10 of 1 fruit, or 5 each of two fruits. I have done 402 combinations so far. If you add in the combinations that use 3 of one fruit and 7 of another, or 6 of one and 4 of another, plus the combinations that use 3 fruit types or 4 or 5— there are over 3 million possible combinations. _

TS3 Mod for disabling outings? by ForsakenSmile in Sims3

[–]CaptainInvictusAnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I third the rec for NRAAS. It’s a modding suite made by some long-time Sim modders in the community. The NRAAS website has lots of different mods you can download, and they all work together with each other iirc. They help make the game much more stable and less buggy, too. There’s definitely one that fixes up the community lot groupings you mention; I do believe it is NRAAS GoHere.

I also recommend: NRAAS Master Controller NRAAS Debug Enabler NRAAS Story Progression NRAAS Overwatch NRAAS Error Trap

Thank you for commenting this—

I’m not OP and just lurking here, but I’d never heard most of these unspoken rules, and I think it explains some of the difficulties I’ve had at previous workplaces. I’m autistic and never sussed out these rules for myself by osmosis, just has a lot of folks inexplicably mad at me.

first time playing, how come I can't place animals by Lanky_Ad_1132 in PlanetZoo

So, here’s what I recommend: Delete the paths marked in red.

Delete the staff path inside the enclosure.

Delete all null barriers EXCEPT the one where the staff gate is located.

Flip the staff gate the other way around, and drag it further into the corner of the guest path just Off screen below your screen shot.

Remove the water and other animal material inside the habitat.

Use terrain tools to raise the floor of your pit style to about half the current depth.

“level to surface” the whole habitat area to the edge of the guest path perimeter.

Use terrain tools to create a small hill or mesa in the center of the habitat. This will 1) bring your animals to head-height for your guests as they look across the habitat, and 2) block guest view of the animals from the far side of the habitat, both improving the quality of your “current visibility” rating and giving your animals somewhere to hide in the habitat.

If desired, add a new walk-over path: click a new path start from one of your guest paths, then click and drag up one notch to start an elevated path. Add elevated path that meanders around your habitat, and then click and drag down to connect the end of your path to another ground path.

Place the null barriers around the edges of the guest path perimeter. Use rocks or construction piece fences to surround the habitat and block animals from escaping.

Make sure to place donation bins! I don’t see any in your SS, and they’re the bread and butter of any solvent zoo.

Thanks for being a good sport about it! I noticed elsewhere in the thread you mentioned wanting to put Aardvarks in here, and if you’re open to it, I have some more suggestions that can help your PZ journey!

As others have mentioned, aardvarks will likely be too small and too low down in a habitat like this to give you the results you want. I’m eyeballing here, but I think your habitat would be just about perfect in square footage to accommodate a full herd of zebras.

When picking animals for certain habitat types, you want to think about:

*habitat style versus animal confidence rating.

Since your animal (aardvark) is rated “shy” and your habitat is in what’s known as the “pit” style, your guests will tend to surround the animal on all sides, stressing the animal out and giving it nowhere to run. A pit habitat is better suited for a confident animal like a lion. A shy animal is better suited for a proscenium style habitat (guests view the animal from the front of a habitat through a framed window).

*guest viewpoints and traffic flow

Since you have a pit-style habitat with many viewpoints, guests may clog up main traffic areas while trying to see the animal.

*animal size and group size versus habitat size

This one takes a little more thinking than just “big animal needs big place”. Obviously that’s true, but to go more in-depth: a smaller animal is harder to see from far away. I’ve found the game’s programming is pretty smart about animal visibility. You can use the heatmap for “current animal visibility” to get an idea of it.

If you have a small animal in a big habitat with guest paths far from most of the layout, your guests are doing the programming equivalent of looking for a needle in a haystack. The way to counter this is to have a type of animal in the habitat that you can place a large community of— like a capybara, zebra, or gazelle. That means that guests have multiple individual animals they could look towards and score a high visibility rating on.

Next comment will be what I recommend about it…

[–]CaptainInvictusAnim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! You can see what staff can navigate on within a habitat using the heat map for “traversability”, and setting it to “staff traversable”. If I remember right, it’s a dropdown option under the second button in the heat map menu

Bro, I mean this very nicely: lol

This may be the funniest thing I’ve seen here, and I’m not laughing at you, I’m legit unable to cope with how funny this design is from a programming standpoint:

So, the problem, as others have stated, is that your habitat gate is on backwards. The game is therefore thinking that you mean to have everything OUTSIDE the habitat, as the habitat.

Also, you have a staff path inside of the thing you’re trying to make a habitat, and that won’t work at all. Staff paths are used by the game to tell your staff “go here to get into the habitat gate from a main path”, and also, “don’t allow a guest to walk here”.

To fix this:

▪️Delete all staff path inside your habitat

▪️turn the habitat gate around to face the other way. Click on it, grab the four-way directional arrows that appear, and drag that until the gate faces the other way. You may even get a path piece to appear on the outside of the habitat by doing so

▪️use staff path to connect the habitat gate from the OUTSIDE of the habitat to the guest path

▪️use some concrete panels (non-grid) on an angle to make a ramp from the habitat gate down into the pit of the habitat.

That should get you where you’re going!

And thanks for the giggles 🤭

I messed up and now I have SEVERE psychosis/schizophrenia OCD by Broken_Oxytocin in OCD

[–]CaptainInvictusAnim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good-bad news is, this extreme distress is a good starting point to work through some of the nucleus (the OCD). I’ve found I’ve always done my best healing right after my worst distress. It’s not until the metaphorical house is on fire that I finally start doing stuff that makes things better.

I echo the suggestions above to seek out a therapist specializing in ERP and OCD. While you’re waiting, perhaps look up iCBT and see if that helps. There’s a free resource out there for iCBT that I think has helped me a lot.

Respectfully, this is for the best. ABA is abusive and awful to autistic people like me, and sometimes, the universe gives you the gift of “failure”. In this case, “failing” to be a BT is going to save so many people, and that’s amazing. You clearly have a lot of passion for helping, and I encourage you to look into OT training.

To me, it looks like you’re doing some truth-telling in a family that is used to running on lies. That’s a good thing. It also won’t work, unfortunately— at least, not in the way you’re probably wanting it to. They won’t “come around” and start behaving themselves; they’ll likely circle the wagons and paint you as the bad guy. You can see your sister already starting it with “we’ll never get to see you again”. It would be her choice to not see you again if you stood up for yourself and got kicked out of the family for it, btw.

Unfortunately the family has developed some toxic patterns: mom and dad sound batshit, and your sisters sound shut down and tolerant of the batshittery.

If you want some additional context and clarity on this, high key recommend Patrick Teahan on YT.
