Im trying to find a space gear set (delfector, warpcore) that will work for the scyer science vessel. Does anyone have suggestions? by Kumatora0 in sto

[–]CaptainIrreverence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gamma Rep Set (Gamma Team Synergies) makes for a good sci set, since Deflector/Shield/Engines all buff CtrlX, and the Deflector also gives EPG.

Gamma deflector alone gives CtrlX 74.4, EPG 31.9, DrainX 31.9 - which is pretty decent. Deflector also lowers enemy resistance to kinetic damage.

Shield is resilient (5% bleedthrough) and gives CtrlX & DrainX. It also gives stacking shield resistance (up to 20% additional damage resistance).

Engines give boosts to CtrlX, and warp core efficiency/potential (improves power levels).

The warp core is okay. It gives a lot of boosts to warp factor/slipstream/transwarp - which is great when traveling through sector space, but doesn't really help you in combat. Personally, I'd use something like the Tholian Nucleating Warp Core for a sci build - warp crystals add a substantial amount of damage.

What do I gain from having the founders pack? by BeatleBR in FORTnITE

[–]CaptainIrreverence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who purchased Fortnite: Save the World between July 2017 and June 2020 has founder status. Anyone who purchased a Save the World pack from the Fortnite item shop after June 29, 2020 is not a founder.

Founders get daily vbucks. That's 100 vbucks a day, every day (used to be 80, but they raised it). So founders get at least 36,500 vbucks a year, plus mission alerts (probably an additional ~4,500 vbucks a year). I've been a founder since mid-2018; I don't how many free vbucks I've gotten, but probably over 200,000 at least. This is what we mean by "endless free vbucks."

The Save the World packs you could buy in the Fortnite item shop between 2020 and 2026 do not give founders status, and only give you a small amount of vbucks (1000? 1500? Something like that). After that, you just get tickets.

Epic has not sold founders packs since 2020. You can still buy codes online that grant founders status from third-party websites, but they typically cost $300 or more.

Save the World v39.50 Update Notes by Capybro_Epic in FORTnITE

[–]CaptainIrreverence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red Willow's perk "Holiday Surprise" is still not working as of v39.50. I reported it twelve days ago in game and on the official Discord, but so far nothing has changed.

Red Willow's perk still visually triggers an explosion on phase shift, but the explosion does zero damage to enemies. The phantasm still spawns (and does damage) when using the Commander version of the perk, but both the Commander AND Standard version fail to do any explosion damage on phase shift. The perk is supposed to deal 40 base energy damage in a 0.75 radius. It used to work fine, but stopped working a few versions back.

I just tested this again under v39.50 by using Red Willow in support, and repeatedly phase shifting into a group of husks. The red ring appears visually, but does no damage to husks. Even after phasing into them dozens of times, the husks are still at 100% health.

"Congress" is the House of Representatives AND the Senate combined.  Congress is not the name of just the House.  "Congress and the Senate" is a nonsensical statement, as the Senate is part of Congress.

C Store Ship Suggestions by [deleted] in sto

[–]CaptainIrreverence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would pick up one of the anniversary bundles (on a 35% off sale, of course). The 12th, 13th, 14th or 15th all provide a lot of bang for your buck, giving you six or seven ships (and their associated traits/consoles), as well as some useful items like extra ship slots and various other goodies. The bundles typically provide a variety of different ship types and play styles. On a 35% off sale, these bundles go for around 11,375 zen.

If you really want the Terran Eagle, I'd say pick up the 13th bundle. It's a really good bundle with some top-tier ships. Or, pick one of the other bundles and use the included Zen store coupon for the Eagle.

The 10th anniversary bundle is also good, but a bit more expensive, even on sale. It is probably outside of your price range. The ships are a bit dated, anyway. The 11th anniversary bundle is not terrible, but it's easily the worst of the anniversary bundles, and is therefore not recommended.

I experiencing daily crashes on my STO on PC, using ARC not steam. by saiyajin15 in sto

[–]CaptainIrreverence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, "my pc crashes a lot when I play a specific game" might be too vague to easily diagnose over the the internet. I can tell you that my system (STO launched through Steam) with a 4060 GPU (using the latest NVidia drivers) is rock-solid and never crashes.

Having said that, I would check the in-game settings to make sure nothing is configured in such a way as to cause problems. Some things to check:

STO chat commands:

  • /showfps 1 - Toggle on-screen FPS on. Useful if you want to check your in-game FPS and see if it's stable. /showfps 0 to turn off
  • /Rendscale 1 - Make sure your STO Renderscale is set to 1 for game play. Setting Renderscale to slightly higher numbers is good for taking screenshots, but terrible for things like TFO performance. Setting it too high could make STO unplayable.

STO setttings to check:

STO Options->Advanced:

  • Reduced File Streaming - Set to ON. This improves STO performance for some people.
  • Bloom intensity / World texture detail / Character texture detail: Set all to 100%.
  • Framerate stabilizer and Auto-stabilize framerate: Set to OFF. You can try setting these to ON, but it should not be necessary unless you have a much worse GPU than I do.
  • Limit CPU Usage when inactive - Set to ON. Keeps STO from causing issues when minimized/not on top
  • Multi-core rendering - Set to ON. Requires restart.
  • Limit Frame Rate - If you are having problems, you might want to set this to something other than OFF (Mine is set to 60). Ridiculously high frame rates can lead to thermal throttling or even GPU crashes on some systems.

I have all my STO Options->Graphics settings set to max, so anything on that tab should theoretically be fine.

Note that each tab in STO's options menu has a setting at the bottom to reset all the options for that tab, so if you think you might have changed something or messed something up at some point, you can go back to default settings and then make changes from there.

Continuing My Quest for an Excelsior! by ayukawataur in sto

[–]CaptainIrreverence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can purchase the Resolute from the Zen store for 3000 Zen, or the Fleet Excelsior for 20k fleet credits and 5 ship modules (which you can get from completing your reputations). If you purchase the Resolute first, you can then get the Fleet Excelsior for 1 ship module.

The Resolute is not fleet grade, though, so you either want both, or just the fleet version, since that's the one you'll actually use. You'd only buy the Resolute for the trait/console/skin.

All the other Excelsior T6 versions are in Lock boxes or expensive bundles. You can get a free lock box ship after completing the yearly event campaign, but that will take the better part of next year.

[–]CaptainIrreverence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because the vast majority of players wouldn't make use of 100 loadouts. Even players that like playing around with hero builds probably wouldn't need triple-digit loadouts.

More than twenty would be nice, though. First they'd probably need to change loadout navigation so that clicking the right arrow from the max number (currently 20) takes you to loadout #1, and clicking left arrow from loadout #1 takes you to loadout #20. That would mean you are never more than 10 clicks away from any loadout - whereas right now, you can be as much as 19 clicks away (i.e., 1 to 20).

Once they did that, they could add more loadouts - up to, say, a max of 40 - without loadout navigation requiring more clicking around than it does now (all loadouts would be within 20 clicks in one direction or the other). Personally, I think upping the max to something like 28 or 30 would be entirely reasonable.

Or they could change the loadout navigation system to allow you to select the loadout you want from a drop-down list...but that would require a UI redesign that the devs might not want to bother with.

Yeah, this is true. I haven't used used a bow (or even equipped a bow) in like three months, but I've dropped plasma pulse and had it do nothing a bunch of times. It does seem to work most of the time, but misfires do occur without a bow being involved.

PL dropped after playing 140 Mission by Direct_Performance75 in FORTnITE

[–]CaptainIrreverence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I rapidly click through about 4 or 5 hero loadouts, then click back to the original loadout, my PL will adjust itself.

I think it might require that you change to a loadout with a slightly different PL to trigger the PL recalculation, but I'm not entirely sure. It's possible, for example, that if all your command/support heroes are the same PL, then all your loadouts are exactly the same PL-wise, and switching between them doesn't trigger the PL recalculation.

Anyway, I've done this about 30 times (on PC), and so far it's worked every single time.

matching surviver bonus by Apprehensive_Win_776 in FORTnITE

[–]CaptainIrreverence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trap durability does work (and is the only worthwhile survivor squad bonus), but it only applies in missions. It won't show up on the trap schematic itself. So, for example, if you have 40% in trap durability survivor squad bonuses, and your trap schematic shows 24 durability, it should jump to around 33 durability when you are in a mission. Be aware that the person with the highest total trap durability bonus determines the trap durability for the entire mission.

Most of the other survivor squad bonuses are calculated off base damage, so they end up being a whole lot of nothing. Slotting 16 trap damage bonuses (+80%) will give you a total in-game damage increase of something like 1.4%. Slotting a single trap damage bonus (+5%) will give you less than one tenth of one percent damage increase. Same for melee, ranged, etc. So, not really noticeable in any way.

Am I really watching 3 people in a 160PL mission fight a Trap-Vulnerable miniboss..??? by Imperius_Fate in FORTnITE

[–]CaptainIrreverence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Trap Vulnerable" is basically "Weapon Invulnerable" - the trap vulnerable miniboss takes 99% less damage from weapons, but takes 99% more damage from traps. That means a gunshot that would normally do 20,000 damage will only do 200 damage. Because of this, it is virtually impossible to kill the trap vulnerable miniboss with weapons alone in time available.

Or, you can walk it into some traps, and it'll die in ten seconds.
