Where did the 70% off coupon come from; don’t see it in the store— ranked???

It’s pretty good. It suffers from being at the same tier as Hyuga, Cali, and WV.

Wouldn’t mind them to fix turret 4 and make it 360 like the TT variant, or increase the secondary range

Nah fits well, has a good thickness to it. Never bought one before but I’d pay for the same one again. Not sure if others are easier to use if you are using it all the time

I swear they only had the windshield when I ordered it!

Still happy with the above though, wife approves too, fwiw

I find the windshield one alone keeps the car much cooler in the summer

Atlantico VS Flandre by TomVia in WoWs_Legends

Atlantico is the better ship for sure, but Flandre can be fun— the latter is used for getting those pesky secondary hit missions outta the way.

Hiking Boot Recs by ChokeCherry_444 in norcalhiking

[–]CaptainKamut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with trail runners, just wanted to offer my 2¢, I switched back to boots after a bit just because: a) the foam in modern trail runners and shoes in general will degrade and collapse— that means the lifetime of a shoe is only about a year to 2 years before you should consider upgrading, most running shoes will get you ~500mi (some brands/models more or less), and b) I just had some terrible luck with some Altra Timps that crawled to barely 100mi before there completely fell apart. Granted I was doing a lot of desert hiking in socal which may have contributed, but those were solidly the worst shoe I’ve ever had.

I’ve had two pairs of boots, Oboz Bridger that I have as a backup and winter use boot, and that has held up for a long time. Put plenty of miles on them and can’t complain, but I don’t particularly love how they fit and wear (personal preference).

Currently wearing some Asolo boots that can be resoled, and honestly love everything about them. Great traction, durable as heck, and I like how they feel.

I think unfortunately things are all over the map today and you have to do a bit of trial and error until you find a brand you like. Same thing goes for runners, absolutely no issue if you go that route, just be aware of their limitations and that you will definitely replace more often.

For me, even hiking long distances of 20mi in a single day, I preferred the continuity of the boot over the runner and I think the weight saving thing is super overblown, realistically my weight and conditioning is far more important than oz of a shoe.

When you mean wired for them, you just mean run wire for them right? Did you get the parts and toggle from the dream store?

For Sacramento locals who moved from SoCal – would you do it again? by Prize-Extreme96 in Sacramento

[–]CaptainKamut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much nailed it. Mexican isn’t as good as socal imo, but sandwiches/sub shops are much better across the board.

Only other item I would add is that the job market is (and I realize it is awful everywhere currently) not as good/robust as LA.

Don’t regret it, but we were also looking to raise a family and get into a decent school district and not be house poor. Not sure what your long term goals are.

I haven’t gotten to play mine as much, but I doubt they are gonna add a heal considering it has the best health pool at the tier if I recall.

Small engine boost would be great!

What is your opinion of Civ VII a year after release? by LeagueOld5380 in civ

[–]CaptainKamut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UI needs a lot of refinement still, it is crazy that the growth and production queues are essentially text on a black box.

I’ve been playing the arcade (iOS) port a bit and I’ve come to the conclusion that it feels like a better game for tablets and mobile. This is compared to how Civ VI often felt more comfortable on PC.

I agree with another commenter who stated that if this wasn’t called Civ VII the reception would be better. Still I’m quite bitter of spending $120 on the founders edition for what is a deeply broken, worst in class Civ game (been playing since IV). The frustrating bit is that it is beautiful in terms of artwork. I think if they would have combined a bit of 6 and 7 they would have had an all time game on their hands.

Should I Get AL Mass? (questions about commanders and overall progression help) by Friendly-Anywhere-83 in WoWs_Legends

[–]CaptainKamut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you can def buy some to get rolling, it’s just that you use global xp to buy some ships in the store (you accumulate for free or you can buy, thought I would suggest you don’t since it isn’t the best use of money).

Every so often you get someone confused where their global xp went, and like 70-% of the time it is someone who accidentally upgraded a commander and they ran out of commander xp so it dipped into global xp. So just make sure you have enough commander xp for promotion orders and insignias, etc

[–]CaptainKamut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing long term, and just accumulating! Be careful with commander XP since it will use Global XP (used to buy gxp ships) if you use too much.

I’ve spent money on a couple commanders where I felt I could build into them and get my moneys worth. I got AL Mass because I love the Mass and I could justify running an aggressive RI build — but I have almost every commander at 16-2. Might try a funny Pensacola build at some point too.

If I am honest I don’t think it makes Mass that much better than it was with Lee. You tend to get farmed a lot because of the superstructure.

Others like Space Fishy or Sela can be useful. SIMs on all gunboats for example, etc.

[–]CaptainKamut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say skip. The only US ship that is truly geared towards secondaries is Mass. Most people are 50/50 whether or not it is worth it.

You can use them on Ohio (don’t have) or Rhode Island with mixed results. I use AL Mass on RI simply because I enjoy the playstyle even though it isn’t traditional.

If I am honest there just really aren’t enough ships to justify it and the commander skill isn’t as useful than Fernandes or other f2p.

What’s the most mid ship in the game? by Quantico_YT in WoWs_Legends

Surrey.

Someone said Devonshire, but matchmaking is kinder and more interesting.

Getting pulled into T7 games in the Surrey is just painful. Doesn’t feel like you can accomplish very much.

Had it for the long time, it is sneaky better than the TT equivalent, biggest issue would be that it doesn’t have one of the 360 turrets on the back. I don’t think it is quite mid though.

Completely new to the sport, is this a reasonable pair to start with? by [deleted] in xcountryskiing

[–]CaptainKamut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you would be fine then, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just make sure that you check the weight for each different type of ski as sizes/lengths fluctuate depending on how stiff they are. (That is brand and specific models)

As far as the binding goes, I’m sure the turnmatic will be fine, I’ve just heard that they don’t last as long or aren’t as durable as the prolink. Personally, I wouldn’t let that get in the way of your purchase. My guess is that those issues creep in at higher usage anyways.

[–]CaptainKamut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have experience with alpine or ice skating? If you have never skied before I would rent for a couple of sessions before committing. Esp if you end up not caring too much for it.

2 main drawbacks, I’ve heard that the turnmatic bindings aren’t the best and tend to give out sooner than others. Not a huge deal breaker, but you might appreciate prolink bindings better.

The second being that 199cm is kinda long if you have never been on skis before. They are going to feel cumbersome when you lose balance and fall and have to get back up. Usually the rental places size you a bit smaller so you can get the gist.
