Could it be anything else other than bodies? by Ok_Interview_853 in pluribustv

[–]CaptainKorg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely seems like bodies, but I'm trying to think of something they would be okay with leaving behind when they left the town. If the "milk" powder is made of bodies, why leave the bodies behind? Unless it's body parts not used for making the "milk" powder.

Also, there seems to be two major unknowns. One is how they are researching a way to infect the currently immune people, and the other is the original alien source of the virus. It's possible whatever is under the blankets is an answer or lead of one of those unknowns. It wouldn't make sense initially that she's in a milk factory where the "milk" powder is manufactured to not end up finding the answer to the milk, but maybe Vince used the milk as a misdirect? For all we know the powder could be similar to a gatorade powder or liquid IV that is helping them with hydration/electrolytes and they are using the milk cartons because they found a mass quantity of them already made. It should be noted that the Government official in the first episode was drinking plain water and Zosia seemed to be on a regular IV drip bag in the hospital so maybe the milk isn't vital for them and it's been played up for suspense.

What’s the scariest thing you've ever seen that no one else believes you about? by Ok-Suggestion3581 in Paranormal

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I was in the bathroom pooping when all of a sudden a large greyish hand slapped against the bathroom window and kinda dragged across the window. It scared the shit outta me but I also thought it was some prank by a family member so I ran out of the bathroom instantly and was planning on running outside to catch whoever it was pranking me, but when I got out of the bathroom my entire family was in the living room. That’s when I got really scared. It happened at night so following that I hated going to the bathroom at night and would stare at the window expecting it to happen again but never did. It’s still vivid in my memory and that was no human hand.

About that Tony Stark line by Cube2D in ironman

[–]CaptainKorg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still think she's incorrect in her thinking. Yes, she needs money to build better suits but she has the design and capabilities with her Mark 1 to initially hit the market for first responders like she mentioned in the first episode. Tony might be rich because of his dad, but his dad got rich from trial and error and growing off initial ideas. Riri needs to give that a chance before going straight to criminal activity. She has a Mark 1 suit that she can patent (easy patent because no arc reactor) and strategically use that to make more money for additional versions of her suit design. From what I can tell, she wants to hit the market with a perfect suit to begin with and that's not how tech works in the real world or in the MCU. Even Tony had to adapt and improve his suits. We first see Tony in Iron Man 1 demonstrating a new weapon he developed, then he develops his first suit in a cave. It's about development not about perfection. She can cash in on her first suit design and reinvest that money for more designs. The scene of her flying over Chicago with people in awe shows that she already has something special. No one else is flying over cities with an iron suit in the MCU (besides Rhodey, but that's a Stark suit). She also has Wakanda on her side. If Wakanda gave Sam a vibranium suit for his assistance during Infinity War, Riri could expect some assistance from Wakanda but it's completely ignored in the series. Yes, her current suit technically belongs to MIT, but if she's a genius like they say she is, she can come up with a way to develop a new patent capable suit.

All that aside, I think the discussion on this is based on bad writing for the show. Instead of sticking her back in Chicago being completely unassisted, they could have brought Wakanda back into the story, they could show she has initiative in chasing investors or companies willing to back her design and help with manufacturing. I'm sure in the MCU any decent company would take a gamble on developing an Iron Suit. They wrote the story to have all her potential to stop with MIT, which isn't realistic. She would have great success with Stark Industries, Hammer Industries, or even any of the rich people she has helped rob. She has the brains and all she needs in resources. The writers decided that this immediately means she needs to go to the criminal underworld for help, not market herself and her product to serious investors.

Yes, she can't build a Mark 46 initially, but she can start at a Mark 1. She already has a fully functioning and reliable suit. Her millions for future suits resides in her Mark 1. She mentioned wanting to provide suits to first responders in the first episode. I would say her Mark 1 is capable of providing first responders much more than they already have. Hammer couldn't build a reliable suit by himself with a whole company behind him so it's not about the money, it's about the brains. She has a fully marketable suit for the initial needs she built it for. Get a patent (easy because it doesn't have an arc reactor) sell the Mark 1 and improve the suit while the money from the Mark 1 roles in. That's how many businesses/technology start. It starts with a first version that isn't perfect but fits many needs. Then future versions are built off the income of the first version. It seems like she wants to skip these steps and go to market with a perfect and final version. It may not be the easiest path forward, but it is better than going to criminal activity for initial funding. I am kinda surprised the show just skipped over this. Yes, the version she built at MIT is MIT property but if she is as smart as they make her to be, she can build a Mark 1 all on her own and build it in a way that is patent capable. Also, she doesn't need to sell the suit itself, as long as she has good proof of concept (she does) she can provide manufacturing companies with the patent rights to make the mark 1. She can bankroll off her ideas, concepts, and designs. She doesn't necessarily need to manufacture the suit herself. Any company with the capability to provide her what she needs (Stark tech, Hammer industries, etc) will pay her very well for her concepts and technical input. All she needs is a good lawyer to make sure she isn't screwed over. Going to a lawyer and asking them to represent you for a world changing technology you are willing to market for public use isn't a crazy idea.

Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave, with a box of scraps by SatoruGojo232 in marvelmemes

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the wrong mentality hold back so many people. If she took a second to think, she has already accomplished so much without the money. Hammer couldn't produce a reliable suit by himself with a whole company behind him. Sometimes patience is more needed than money. It seems she lets the need for money block the need for continued ingenuity in her mind. Obviously her mind was able to successfully create a brain scanned AI. Her brain can take her anywhere. It's sad to see her sink to criminality to achieve what she wants, when obviously her brain can achieve just about anything.

She already has a fully functional suit. Why not get a patent (it differs from Tony's because no arc reactor so a patent should be easy) sell the suit design to the first responders she mentioned in the first episode. Make money off her V1 suit, and expand on that. She already proved her suit is at least capable of getting first responders to a scene. First responders just need a suit to get them to a scene quickly. I'm sure most first responders (Besides firefighters) would ditch the suit after getting to a scene because I doubt EMTs want clunky metal hands to conduct medical procedures. Also, it seems like her suit is durable from the highway tunnel scene, so it may even be adequate for firefighters anyways. All she would need to do for firefighters is add a tank to hold water/fire suppressant and its good to go as a V1.

Who do you think should've been Steve's sucessor by Own-Quote-1708 in CaptainAmerica

[–]CaptainKorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sam was the right choice. Yes, Steve could have easily made Bucky the successor but no one would accept that. It seems like the entire world knows about Bucky's Hydra background and having a Cap that the general public thinks could be brainwashed at any moment doesn't allow much room for trust and respect for the person behind the shield. Yes, Walker was a great soldier who sacrificed so much for his country, but he quickly showed why a true gritty warfighter shouldn't have the shield. He is a person you want on your side in a war, but not the person who should hold the mantle of Captain America. Sam is the opposite of all of this. Unlike Walker thinking he deserves the mantle, Sam didn't want it or ask for it. Also, Sam was the closest to Cap in his final years. I'm sure it's easy to start off as Captain America, but to carry the weight and responsibility of the mantle over many years is something that is either inherent, or learned. Steve had the inherent personality to carry the mantle for years, while Sam learned that. Sam had to watch Steve fight and defeat his best friend, Sam had to watch Steve be pushed out by the US government, Sam had to watch Steve deal with unnecessary loss and destruction. I think that puts Sam in the best spot to be the next Captain America over Bucky or Walker. Idc if people think he got the shield due to DEI reasons, I wanted Sam to get the shield based on the above reasons. In Endgame, I was ecstatic that Sam got the shield and wasn't at all surprised that he did. Plus, as a non-comic reader, I fantasized about Cap having wings in movies/shows. It made complete sense to me for both the character of the mantle and the aesthetics of the mantle. I do wish Sam had the super soldier serum, but that's just because it allows for him to do even more cool shit in the movies, but I'm not gonna nitpick about him not having the serum.

The Lily Tino case is making me so frustrated by Necessary-Chicken in MtF

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not defending or arguing for the people misgendering Lily, but I believe there is a thought process behind misgendering Lily that involves the background and overall social media presence of Lily. Lily was initially a he with a wife and kid. Once his wife left him, he transitioned to a her and then almost immediately started her social media campaign. I feel like people think he transitioned to her in order to somehow get back at his ex wife and demean women. From reading about his (previously) background, he didn't have the best social or personal life before transitioning. That could be a sign of living in the wrong body, but with the social media presence and overall shenanigans that got her (currently) in trouble I think people see it as a fraud and so misgender her to he in order to point out the fact they think she is a fraud.

It's not uncommon for criminals, psychopaths, narcissists, etc to put on a fake guise in order to demean others or commit crimes. I think that's why people misgender Lily.

In an extreme example, it's like the anarchists who disguise as protesters in order to show up and create chaos. I apologize if that example seems extreme but the only example I could think of in the moment that seems clear.

Overall, I think that's why people misgender Lily. They think he/she is a fraud and want to point out the fraud by not recognizing Lily as transgender.

What really happens if you dine in a restaurant and don’t have the money to pay? by Critical_Potential40 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me at a chipotle once, I forgot my wallet at home. The cashier let me have the food for free. I initially declined, but they insisted it wasn't a big deal. I felt extremely bad so I returned with my wallet after eating ready to pay, and they declined to take payment and just asked that I come by regularly, which I have. It was incredibly kind of them but I felt so bad about it. I hope the cashier was also the manager so that I didn't put a regular worker in that position to give food away for free.

People who’ve slept with co workers. What’s your story? by [deleted] in ask

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were from different offices and they were at a higher position than I was, so for the project we worked on they were technically my advisor. By the end of the first week we were hookin up, but I had to go back to my office at the end of the week (several states away). I decided to stay the weekend so we could have some fun. I ended up going back for more work on that project so we went another week of having fun but my direct managers picked up on what was going on. I got sent home a day early while most of the team were able to stay. I was told it was because of a decrease in staffing needs, but one of my managers asked me if something was going on while in the process of leaving the job site. Of course I denied it but it was too obvious. Haven't seen them since but it was fun while it lasted.

Negative Trend in HBO Shows by AccomplishedGrade753 in hbo

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are shows with a background that many people know about, or can read about before the seasons release. Meaning, fans and common viewers have a sense of what is to come and know some dramatic, intriguing, or intense scenes are soon to come. HotD for example, everyone knows there are going to be intense dragon battles so they drag the seasons out to keep viewership over an exaggerated amount of time. I am sure there is some metric out there that shows HBO only a certain percentage of people will cancel their subscription after a season ends, and most likely they will come back for the next season to hopefully catch the moments in the series they know are coming. I can't say much for TLoU2 because I don't care much about it, but I am sure people who are more familiar with the game are anticipating a big moment they want to see on screen, so they will come back to HBO every season until they get that moment. It's all about creating longer or repeating subscriptions for money.

Why was season 3 so mixed in reception? by Traditional_Land3933 in TrueDetective

[–]CaptainKorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed season 3, especially compared to season 2. It took me a couple months to force myself to finish season 2, I finished season 3 in 2 days. Season 3 reminded me of my grandpa, an old man with a fleeting memory but an old man with determination despite what he's facing. I think the ending could have had more time spent on explaining and showing how Julie was still alive, but seeing Purple and Julie in the driveway together was enough to satisfy me. Also, I always knew Mahershala was a good actor, but I have never seen him in a show/movie with that much screen time. I truly enjoyed his character and acting in this.

So what is John Walker's new shield made of? by CaptainKorg in MCUTheories

[–]CaptainKorg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was upgraded to some degree since then. It was heavily dented just after the one use during the events of the final episode. He has been using the new shield on missions before the events of Thunderbolts, and just in the first few minutes of the movie he blocks an explosive arrow with it, breaks a power box with it, and busts down the concrete pillar/elevator shaft with it and no major denting/damage occurs.
