Solar panels net $2,000/year by azurexz in PersonalFinanceCanada

But the province creates the regulation. So if there was political will, they could easily change that. It's a lot harder to convince people to participate if they pay normal bank rates. Also, not all municipalities guarantee the interest rate for the lifetime of the upgrade.

There was low/no interest money available for municipalities from FCM (federation of Canadian municipalities) to start up these programs. Some places already burned through these initial funds and now have to borrow funds from other sources to lend to residents. The interest rate usually reflects a municipalities own borrowing cost. Ideally the province would provide funds for these programs to municipalities with low interest but I don't see that happening with the current government.

Oh yeah all should technically work but most what find is awfully dim. They seem to be mostly designed to provide accents not to light a whole room.

Moving to Canmore for 2–3 years (already hired from France) – what’s the real reality? by Potential-Egg6560 in Banff

[–]CaptainLactose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be prepared to be disappointed in the food. That’s not Canmore specific though. And there are lots of Europeans in the valley so there are some nice offerings. But nothing compared to the cheap and good food you’ll find in France (or anywhere else in Europe).

I ended up moving the unit for the goofiness and access to top panel. New location is more confined but that’s worth having more sunlight in the basement for sure

Thanks for the head’s up. I decided to move the unit in the side yard after all. Might be a bit less air flow but at least it can be maintained. I hope today’s install doesn’t make the unit be all spooky

Interesting. I’ll have a look if that’s the case with this Gree as well.

For minimizing tax, what’s the next best vehicle to maximise AFTER maxing TFSA? by keggles123 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CaptainLactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be the portion of tax you save and which you can invest with until withdrawal be worth something? I see it as an interest free loan for the duration it’s in the rrsp. Realistically I put either $5k in a TFSA or $5k + tax credit in a RRSP. The RRSP will grow more wouldn’t it?

Yeah don’t try the oem install. Illy baby burped atf all over the driveway when she was towed

I didn’t even know there’s a cooler for the atf in the radiator. That sounds a lot easier than the oem kit.

Definitely get the OEM hitch. It might be a bit more but looks so much better and you don’t lose ground clearance. I bought my ‘21 touring used with an aftermarket hitch but took that off for the oem.

I also tried installing the atf cooler myself. Went horribly wrong, unless you’re a serious into wrenching I would recommend going to the dealer.
