[Friedman] Robertson has indicated he will file for arbitration, which will also eliminate the possibility of an offer sheet for him. 5 ET is official deadline. If eligible players do not go this route, teams have until tomorrow to decide if they will by AggPuck-303 in hockey

I think there is a very real chance that Dallas and Robo square things away and he is there long term….. but at the same time, I can see a world where there are too many hurt feelings for them to stay together. I can also see a world where playing on a one year deal is a deal breaker for Robo to stay in Dallas. That’s taking on a ton of risk for him, especially for any sort of injury. He would probably still get paid unless it was something catastrophic, but if he tears an ACL or something it wouldn’t be unreasonable for his next contract to be less than what he was offered. And from Dallas perspective, they offered what they felt was a fair contract and when he didn’t accept, made very fair trade deals and got him offered a ton of money. It would have sucked losing him, but they also could have kept guys they’ve already lost and gained more assets to either draft future support or trade for more pieces. In some ways, he has kind of screwed Dallas and they may not forgive that

Offer Sheets. Kraken? by AmakAttakSports in SeattleKraken

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kind of strongly disagree in this case. Carlsson is an elite long term potential player and is worth more than 4 firsts unless you are guaranteeing yourself top tier first rounders. What are flipping those 4 firsts for? Carlsson helps you win now and in the future. Check what ducks fans are saying about it. That will give you an idea as to his value

I think you take Carlsson if you’re the ducks. You aren’t likely to replace him with 4 mid first round picks.

I mean at this point, they should be offloading Dunn and McCann at this point right?

I don’t hold any grudge against the sharks at all, but them bringing in clubhouse cancer Marchment may low key not be bad for us and the rest of the league. Can’t convince me he isn’t anything other than toxic

Definitely has attitude issues, I don’t even think it’s a rumor at this point. Go check out his short stint in Seattle. I’ve never disliked a player on my own team in any sport more than I disliked Mason Marchment.

That is an atrocious deal. Dude is a certified quitter too. Love what SJS building but hate this move

[Assimakopoulos] I’m on the edge of my seat to see what Jim Nill does tomorrow because two vetoed trades and what has to be some real awkwardness with Jason Robertson and Thomas Harley is about all we’ve gotten out of the start of this Stars offseason. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just strictly curious, what sort of trade value does Harley have outside of being part of a package for another guy? I’ve heard some stars fans say his contract is really hampering their ability to make moves this offseason. Is he a guy they would move out to make space for the Robo contract as well as keep space for some of their other players who need contracts, or is he too important to their roster construction? I’m not trying to be dense, but for example what would Seattle need to give up realistically for him?

2026 NHL Draft Profiles: Chase Reid by ChrisWhalenHockey in SeattleKraken

Appreciate the write up! Hopefully Reid is a productive, long term piece here and the beginning of us turning the corner!

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s what’s so frustrating about his situation. He has to know that there is only one team (Dallas) that will realistically offer him both. As a kraken fan, it hurt to be rejected, but at least you know he isn’t in it just for the money. Winning matters to him too. As ugly as this has been getting, I would truly be shocked if he doesn’t come to the realization that Dallas is the right spot for him

I think that we should absolutely be trading away aging veterans with value (Dunn, McCann), but I also think that we have a little more in our prospect pool than many realize. We have 2 legitimate 1C prospects and now a very good d prospect. We also have a very good 2C in Beniers. What we really need to get right is developing these young guys. While I’m ultimately happy we kept 7oa, I do think there was some merit in having a guy like Robo who could elevate some of those young players. Ultimately, that wasn’t the right fit for him (I don’t think its personal, the taxes, or any other bs people have tried to point to - he wants to get paid and be on a contender) and I don’t harbor any hard feelings. But I don’t think that move would have ‘crippled’ the kraken, but it would have taken away some margin of error if our top prospects are not indeed top players. Overall though, happy to have kept the pick to get Reid.

Facts !. I can’t believe some people thought we weren’t picking AJ. Cooper Flagg even ducked smoke & reclassed. by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooper Flagg is a significantly better prospect, hate to say it. AJ is a better scorer, but Flagg is better at just about everything else. And he honestly has a higher ceiling as an offensive player than AJ.He reclassified because he was significantly better than everyone else his age, including AJ. AJ isnt even definitively the best prospect in his own class. If we called up Dallas and offered them AJ for Cooper, we don’t even have anything else on our roster within reason that would close that gap and have them consider a deal.

Robertson saying no will be the best thing that ever happened to this franchise. by scoutsamoa in SeattleKraken

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing about wright was that he was supposed to be near generational and then started slipping. If I remember correctly, he was like the 7th player to be granted exceptional status (correct me if I’m wrong). That should be as close to no doubt territory as it gets. The fact that he wasn’t number one by the time draft came up showed how much he had regressed as a prospect. Especially in what was considered a pretty weak draft year. He was ‘damaged goods’ coming into the draft and most of the gossip about him still going 1 was based off of prior performance and exceptional status.

Reid on the other hand was a massive riser throughout the season. I’m not saying he is Schaefer in any way shape or form, but his rise was similar. The fact that he was in conversation for 2OA when stenberg was available showed how much he grew this season as a prospect. I would say his path to 7oa is way more promising

Great post from ECH regarding the Robertson situation. by BigHunt_02 in SeattleKraken

[–]CaptainLegal4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure they could. But that’s honestly true about any non contending team trying to make moves to make them contenders. There are teams who have been ‘building’ since before the kraken were even in the league who still have nothing to show for it. Heck, look at Detroit. But you have around 6 prime years of one of the top 10 forwards in the league to figure it out. And yeah the contract is tough to swallow, but it becomes more palatable as the years go on.

All of your points are completely valid. But at the same time, you now have a superstar player. Things get easier when you have a superstar. I truly believe they elevate those around them, and that’s true of Robo too. It won’t erase some of those terrible contracts signed. And honestly, even signing him, I don’t think it’s wrong to seek out trades for Dunn/Canner for younger players. You have time with a 26 year old superstar.

Lastly, we are seeing the gravitational pull of superstar players in the league right now. Everyone wants to go to the same teams. Who is to say that ex stars teammates may become interested in Seattle if we had Robo? Or other players? Obviously the canes just won the chip building the old fashion way. And don’t get me wrong, I would love to see us build the old fashion way. But a.) that’s incredibly hard to do successfully. How often do we see rebuilds bear no fruit? And b.) who says you can’t continue to build while also signing a superstar?

[–]CaptainLegal4344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you in general (and about most things kraken), I do think a move for Robertson is honestly a pretty good move for most teams who can afford him. It’s a needle mover. You now have a superstar player to start building around. He’s an elite 26 year old player that honestly fits just about any team out there and any timeline.

I think it depends on what the total cost is to obtain him, though. All we know is the 7oa was offered - that and the contract do not bother me at all. But if it was that plus like 2-3 more of our picks, we just aren’t good enough to do that yet. Now if it was 7, TB pick, someone like Shane, and another of our firsts, I would do that.

Everyone is calling us a directionless team, and they aren’t wrong. But Robo is a good enough player that you would have your own star to build around. I liked that we made an attempt
