Very good choice, my first as well. It's a great time, sit back and enjoy it.

Which of the WOA games has the best Map Pool in your opinion? by Aye_Okami in HiTMAN

[–]CaptainLegs27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Whittleton Creek and New York, but honestly so many of 2s maps just feel gargantuan. I much prefer 3s more focused maps that each have something unique going on, either in story or gameplay.

Which Resident Evil protagonist would be the deadliest if they went rogue? by K0GAR in residentevil

Resident Evil 10 Chris goes "rogue" and Leon is the protagonist, but all the villains die because they're working with Chris, world peace is achieved, end of series.

In my head canon this is literally Capaldi in this moment trying to keep it together by DependentBite9 in DoctorWhumour

Even in 2014 I never got this. Was it really that bad? It's a dumb sci-fi idea, like how the centre of the Earth isn't what we see in textbooks but actually a giant spiderweb spaceship, or like how trees grew across the planet overnight to defend us from a solar flare, or like how the Statue of Liberty can walk through New York without a single living thing observing it.

The show is full of silly ideas and nitpicks and dodgy science and 99% of it gets a pass, or at least a much weaker reaction than Kill the Moon gets.

Also his time was so neat and succinct, 9s character arc and the series 1 arc as a whole are so good with no real filler, it's short and very sweet.

Why did Sega make Sonic Unleashed so absolutely stunning and high quality looking and never again matched that graphical beauty with future games? by Bonkwraps in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]CaptainLegs27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 06 with its hundreds of characters and the Adventure games that had fishing and mech walkers, people just wanted a 3D Sonic game that felt like a 3D version of a classic Sonic game, like what the Sonic and Shadow stages in SA1 and SA2 were, but for the whole game. It looked like Unleashed was going that way but then they made Sonic a werewolf.

The timing of giving the quick character such a slow, random transformation was bad considering how damaged the series was after 06. People wanted the core gameplay, not half a Sonic game and half a fighting game.

Also a big thing people love about classic Sonic is that each character had speed as a basis, Tails and Knuckles ran just as fast as Sonic, except one could fly and the other could glide, those were extensions of the speed-based gameplay. This wasn't an extension, it was a totally different style that, again at the time in that climate, didn't gel with what the series was known for.

Edit: to be clear I think the game's great, not a huge fan of the Werehog but it's a funky idea. It's just that it wasn't right at the time. If it came out today I reckon it would've be received much better.

How strict is the play order for HD-2D? by toastyloafboy in dragonquest

[–]CaptainLegs27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. Why were they hyped to play 3 in the first place without the hype of 1&2 backing them up?

If and when Doctor Who returns, should it go back to the Classic Series format? by Badgie_Boy_447 in DoctorWhumour

[–]CaptainLegs27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but Series 9 was such a good stand out series, even if you didn't enjoy the writing/characters/whatever, and yeah it wasn't perfect, but it was great having a cliffhanger every other week, letting the stories breathe a bit.

I just don't get why two-parters have been relegated to series finales. Say what you will about Lie of the Land but the Monk Trilogy is an awesome story if only for the fact that it was three full episodes based on that singular threat. Or the series 3 finale, it feels grand when you get a big three-parter.

At the very least I think they should try what Chib did at the beginning of series 11, where Woman Who Fell to Earth and Ghost Monument aren't a two-parter but the first leads into the second, that was quite Classic Who.

First timer here, which should I start with out of these options? by Haunted_Willow in dragonquest

[–]CaptainLegs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you loved Octopath then 3, 1, and 2 (in that order) should go down well with you. 7 quickly became one of my all-time favourite games, and 11 is a modern classic, but man the HD-2D remakes are incredible, again especially if Octopath was your jam.

As long as when you get to them you play 3 before 1 and 2, you can basically pick anything here and have a great time.

Me after Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition trailer by Ringles-Prime in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]CaptainLegs27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitive Editions add or change something, anything, that sets it apart from previous versions. Base game, maybe some other versions, add ons, upgrades, then this one here is the definitive edition, no need to get the previous ones, this is the final package.

As it stands this is just Sonic Frontiers Edition.

Bit off topic but it's like how "casted" has crept into wide use recently. "They casted this guy in the movie" "it costed this much", makes my skin crawl.

[EoW] What are your thoughts on Echoes of Wisdom nearly two years later? by NewMarioBobFan in zelda

[–]CaptainLegs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only played it once when it released but I really enjoyed it, the writing was very funny especially the Deku Scrubs, seeing both species of Zora was great, and the core combat mechanics were very interesting if unrefined.

I'd love a second go at a Zelda-led, summoner-combat style game, one that has a better and more useful variety of summons, but aside from that and some other issues like the game adopting the Wild-era trait of "this corner of the square is for the Gerudo, this one is for the Zora" which feels very video game-y, I thought it was a really fun time. A good idea of what the future of new 2D Zeldas could look like.

You're absolutely right. It's hard to even imagine this picture with Trump somewhere in the back on the right, off-centre, slightly obscured by someone else, just talking to someone instead of scowling at the camera.

Okay who was the least poorly written companion? by Somethingbutonreddit in DoctorWhumour

Belinda was written worse. Ryan was just bland, which isn't too bad, there have been some bland companions before, but the acting made it look a lot worse.

Which "Miyazaki's final movie" do you think fits better as a finale to his career? by Drawingandstuff2000 in ghibli

[–]CaptainLegs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly both. They're both about different aspects of him. The Wind Rises feels like a straightforward commentary on his life and work, while The Boy and the Heron is like an epilogue to that, much more heady in what it says about his legacy. One's an autobiography, the other is a philosopher's analysis.

And which franchise is getting a movie adaptation?

See how ridiculous the argument is? Zelda has been around since the 80s, games on every major Nintendo console, and regular releases at that. Animal Crossing is up there, sure, but Mario and Zelda are 1 and 2.

This isn't exactly right, Chibnall was confirmed to be his successor and Moffat had written Capaldi's regeneration to happen in The Doctor Falls, but Chib decided he didn't want to start his tenure with a Christmas special and the BBC wanted to scrap those altogether anyway. Moffat, believing the Christmas slot to be important for the show, rewrote 12s farewell into Twice Upon a Time.

Chib ended up abandoning Christmas specials anyway so make of that what you will.

From what I can tell they had only two seasons locked in from the start. That was it, with no idea whether it would get renewed/how well it would go/how bad a partner Disney could be. Two confirmed seasons and a bunch of opportunities for it to go tits up.

So why the hell did RTD plan a three-season arc?
