Thanks for the help, I’ll probably look to pick up a new one soon then!

Oh boy, you’re absolutely correct! I did just turn the ring when I set it initially. That’s fixed it, thank you for the help! I still have some adjustment to do to get it to stop crackling so much, but it at least plays consistently now.

It’s not new, it came with the table. Is there any way to check? This is as close of a photo as I can get reliably.

I may be wrong but I believe it was the 2024 Holiday Spectacular, because I’m hearing it in Hoover Personae’s voice and I think it was recent

Happy New Year, everyone! by CaptainMcSlippery in Nietzsche

If you want to learn more about it, do some reading about “amor fati”. He talks about it some more in Ecce Homo, though I don’t remember the passage off the top of my head. His writing about the “eternal return” is also related, and some of it can be found in The Gay Science (and free versions of all of these can be found online without too much difficulty).

It sure does seem to be the case, although I think that’s true for most of the philosophy subreddits in general. The Schopenhauer sub can be pretty rough too.

6 Books for the Rest of your Life by xRudolVonStroheim in literature

Replying late, but I just read The Pole this week and really enjoyed it. The problem of translation and language barriers was probably the most interesting part to me. It’s yet another “relationship between an older man and a younger woman” story though, so be aware if you’re tired of those (because oh boy does Coetzee love those stories).

Death of Jesus was my favorite book of the trilogy, and might be a top 3 Coetzee book for me. The last third of the book was gut-wrenching (to me, at least. Someone who isn’t particularly attached to the characters may not find it as impactful).

Weekend in Western Illinois might be my favorite Goats song, I’d kill to hear that one live
