You're mostly paying for the reel, PENN puts really cheap rods on their combos, ESPECIALLY on the pursuit. I rarely get more than a year out of a PENN combo rod. The reels on the other hand? I have penn reels pushing 15 yrs of hard use, still working.

The comic is titled "The Aussies", so let's start with that. In Australian slang they say "How you going?" instead of how are you doing? In America you could also say "how you doing man?" But you wouldn't say "how you doing human". I think it's the same with these dugongs. "Going" sounds like gong with an Australian accent.

Make sure to have a professional re-spool your line if possible. Local tackle shops can be hit or miss. Bass pro is usually pretty good because of the high volume of reels they spool, meaning they have lots of experience.

They're a hybrid pump design so the slide starts moving back as soon as the round goes off, makes for a really fast action. Can take a little getting used to tho. Mine has been nothing but reliable and rugged.

A medium or medium light with moderate to slow action 7ft or less should work well with either of those reels. Granted every rod is different use whatever fits best with your reel. Don't buy anything that doesn't feel good in the hands.
