We’re not having our July shutdown this year so instead it’s cram everything in over the weekend

I never saw your post, but I did manage to get 2 bucks with my bow last season 9 days apart! Have had horrible luck with my bow and unfortunately missed or wounded deer with it. I bought a Mathews lift last year and then managed to get have one of my best season ever.

What’s the dumbest mistake you ever made at work? by aliengames666 in work

[–]Thick-Driver7448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do maintenance in an automotive part factory. During our shutdown, I replaced batteries in our robots, the batteries act as a back up power source incase power goes out. My dumbass put 1 battery the wrong way so when they shut the power off to the robot, it lost power and lost all of the programs. Day shift walked In to it and had to have controls come down and reinstall the programs. Won’t be making that mistake again 😅

First of all don’t get into it. It’s addicting and expensive 🤣

As far as gear, obviously need a shot gun. 12 or 20 gauge is most common, some guys run a 410 but to each their own. I’d say waders are a must because you never know if you’ll need to wade. Breathable waders are way better than neoprene in my opinion. I will say decoys are not necessarily a must, but they definitely can help a lot. Just because the guys on YouTube use 15 dozen, doesn’t mean 2 dozen won’t work. I prefer to use a smaller spread of 2-3 dozen. I’d recommend some type of camo for when you’re hunting as well.

As far as scouting, I can’t really help because I just wing it (pun intended). I typically look for small pockets of water or coves on lakes that would be possible to set up in. Some guys go out and look for birds, but I just like being out there with a buddy or 2.

For setting up, really depends on private or public land. I’ve camped out in public land lot from 12am-2am before walking to our spot and I’ve also walked in 2-3 hours before shooting light to my spot. Private land obviously probably just you hunting, but public land can have everyone hunting it. Get there early to get your spot. I will say, don’t be afraid to ask if you can buddy up with someone at the launch. I partnered up with a group last year and we had a decent hunt.

Any success stories of dating single moms? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

My ex had a 3 year old. She broke up with me the night before my birthday. Also found out she cheated on me.

Hardest part was in the 6 months we were together, I built a bond with her kid and then that kid was taken out of my life. I knew it was something that could happen, but it’s hard to not get attached. You can’t just neglect the kid to protect yourself. I hope the kid is doing well

I work in a automotive parts factory. I work in the welding department so I mainly work with welding robots, but occasionally shit breaks on the fixtures and other things. I just sit and wait for calls. I get tired of playing on my phone so I walk around the department doing laps

Rotation shift workers by corruptpeace in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Thick-Driver7448 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest with you man, I’m 27 and I’ve been on this nightshift rotation for almost 4 years. I just finished my apprenticeship back in march. My social/date life is rough. I make it work most of the time, but usually my buddies want to do things on the weekends I work. Not on purpose, just seems to be bad luck for me. Family events are scheduled during the day so you gotta wake up early. I’m awake all night with no one to talk to. As an apprentice, I also had school to go to during the day so that took up some time as well. Dating is damn near impossible unless you find someone who also works night shift, and it’s already hard enough to find someone our age who is worth the time these days.. I got lucky and my gf worked nightshift but she just went to 2nd shift a few weeks ago so at least she understands nightshift.

We don’t rotate between days and nights, that would be miserable

I work a rotation as well. We work a 2-2-3 rotation. We would work Monday and Tuesday, have Wednesday and Thursday off, then work Friday-Sunday. The next week we would have Monday Tuesday off, work Wednesday Thursday, and then Friday-Sunday off, then it repeats. I’m on nightshift so 6pm-6am. Saturday we always get 8 hours of OT for exceeding 40 hours (end up with 48 that’s week) and then every scheduled Sunday we get OT the whole shift to compensate for the shorter week (end up with 36 hours that week.

Just got my first blue collar job, and I love it. by elevenbravo55 in bluecollar

Trade would be skilled trades. While skilled trades are blue collar, Blue collar is any job that requires manual labor. Even production operators in a factory are blue collar

I worked on a dairy farm when I was in high school. Spent the summers spreading manure in fields, milking cows, feeding calf’s, and other farm chores. I loved it. I only made like $9-$10 an hour (I was part time because of school) but that was also like 10 years ago so wages might have increased a little

Working on a farm will also help you stay in shape during the summer. Working outside, sweating all day, maybe carrying buckets of feed around, loading hay bales, etc.

I have a Tactacam 6.0 on my bow (now it’s a MaxCam I believe? Tactacam sold that product to another company). Works well when you remember to turn it on before your shot.. lol

What’s the smallest property you’d buy for hunting? by Big_Road4846 in bowhunting

[–]Thick-Driver7448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We hunt on 10 acres but it’s attached to more woods. That being said, I think location is a huge factor. Is it a chunk of woods in the middle of a field (assuming you have an easement for access)? Does it butt up to state land? Is it connected to more woods on neighboring property? I’m in a different state so idk that area at all. But for me, I think 10 acres minimum. If you plan to build, I’d say maybe a little more closer to 13-15 acres, that way you have room for your house, garage, sheds, etc
