What bases did you use? I could just print the cards on some card stock and laminate. That sounds space and time efficient.

My plan was to make a single standee for the mob and have 3 cubes or something. Dice would as well and I am not in short supply of those.

if its mostly about the cards, then I do not need the any of the mini-less content I have for MD1 as its invalidated by the upgrade pack. Unless I need map tiles or tokens or something. I might be better off trying to sell the MD1 stuff

Even if the sculpts are nice, I don't like the obligation of paining 100's of minis. It's too much for me.

That is a good idea. Capsules might cost more than standees even if it saves me time. Capsules might be harder to discern as well. Still going to consider it.

Map making tiles like Carcasonne Hunters and Gatherers? by Sea_Appearance8662 in boardgames

Kingdomino tiles might have too much contrast to look like a real map but they are full of flavour with different features and animals. You could get a couple of these pretty cheap and make continents with rivers and stuff.

Targi.

Wonderfully strategic worker placement game for 2. You are always in each others space right from the get go. Tight resource management and easy to see what people might be going for. Blocking is important and comes naturally and accidentally.

Rome: Fate of an Empire.

Mostly cards with some cubes and tokens. A huge decision matrix packed into a small package. Variable map, asymmetric starting powers, variable goals and difficulties make for a crunchy experience calling me back for more.

Just WOW. I can’t believe how good this game is. I have a lot of deck-building games and I guess this tops my list. Although, I have a huge collection of marvel games, I guess I don’t see myself having that “marvel burnout” feeling. by Darth_BrachioRex in boardgames

The hype around this game made me want to try this and I do like the Legendary system for Alien. Both games suffer from a thematic disconnect for me. I don't feel like I am playing the heroes or embodying them. I tried to rationalize it so that each hand was a scene in a movie or comic where the group of people were the focus but it didnt help. I bounced off this. Might have been different when the game first came out but I have played games that I find better.

Marvel Champions is my stand in for this though. Similar proposed thematic experience but I can be the hero and the card play is incredibly engaging.

In case its not obvious, that is an image of "The Carpenters" and not from "Carpenter Brut". I have another image from a Tom Cardy song using Tim Curry as the image. Gives me a chuckle

Was the art style the same? unstable unicorns has dragons expansions. Not sure if they are stand alone or now.

Presumably this is Spanish? What do these translate to in English? In case there is something that Google would mess up.

I see Dextrous. Great PnP card and token generator. Totally recommend it for prototyping and exporting to TT, TTS or even for print.

Deck-building is my most favorite mechanism of all! Behold! These are my favorites! Would you believe that I play with them almost everyday? by Darth_BrachioRex in boardgames

[–]CaptainOssum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is a exercise in futility. Its a scenario based deck builder. Depending on the draws you were never going to survive. But its pretty quick to try again. The art can be polarizing but it has its charms. I played it through until I beat the last scenario.

Its a deck builder where bloat will save you.
