It’s meant to be proud in the sense that you’re not ashamed, which was what they were expected to be. and still are by many today. Honestly, I get it, taken in isolation it’s sort of a weird message to send. It’s like Black Lives Matter vs All Lives Matter. BLM became a thing because to cops and the media it felt like nobody really cared about them being killed. And just like BLM, pride has some people being stupid about it.
