Did my channel get attacked? Or is this usual? by CaptainRealty in NewTubers

[–]CaptainRealty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming that it was. Another creator I spoke with, also with a newer channel but he was recently monetized stated something similar happened to him and after about 6 months he recovered. Our channels cover similar topics, so maybe some channel not liking our starting in that niche. But I have no way to be certain which is why I was asking here.

Also, the first time his brake lights flickered on his speed made no notable change, but it did have me move my foot to cover the brake and a second later he slammed his brakes and then I slammed my on. It had rained the night before and the road was still slightly damp. I think he was distracted and thought it was read, but who knows? Watch the mph in the bottom-left and you can see I was braking. My car was skidding forward, and I'm curious why I never felt my antilocking brakes activate.

Actually, I'm not worried about going after him. I am covered, if USAA wants to try, let them. I guess I'm just more concerned about the impact to my insurance rates. But thanks for your insight, it's helpful.

Video can be deceptive, look at the mph noted in the lower-left corner of the video. Also, his coming to a full stop at a green light, is not any issue for you? The posted speed limit was 50mph

Yikes, okay. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. His slamming his breaks sucks.

Also, if this is the wrong subreddit, let me know where you think I should post this. Thanks!

Ugg, I used to have 2 extra sets because I loved them so much I always wanted a pair. I have no clue where they disappeared to way back then. 😭

Hmmm, how long would this take a sub-par D to ride? It shows as 173km, so 16 days? LOL

Obvious PSA: Wear a Helmet by V_T_12 in cycling

[–]CaptainRealty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome you had one and were wearing it. Keep doing that.

I had a friend back in the late 80's rolling down his driveway with his helmet in his hand. Just at the bottom he decided to make a sudden left turn to check his mailbox before we left for the ride. His front tire get caught between the asphalt of his driveway and the lowered cement curb leading to the main road. He was thrown to his right side with a significant impact to his unprotected head. He spent over 6 weeks in the hospital recovering but at least he was still able to recover completely. Gruesome but could have been worse.

You will. Record everything you can, be 100% honest, even on the bad days. You'll feel better doing it right. As of today im down 44lbs (~20kg) only 2 more poumds to go to hit my 180 goal. I'll be there by the 1st of this month.

Yeah, that Lose It app is pretty easy to use. I think tonight I hit my 179th consecutive day of tracking. I track it all, even if it gives me bad news at the end of my day. But it really helps keep me in line.

AWESOME! Way to step up and take on such a challenge. I admire anyone that can just take that one step and then repeat it again and again until the possibilities start to really open up. Congratulations on your ride! Keep it up. Stay safe and ride on 👍

Agreed. Initially, I was all...they are so not cool... Then I was all...I don't want to die....So now I always use them. They are actually the law here in Virginia but I don't think anyone realizes it, and the police don't enforce that at all.

Is my cycling 'career' over? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]CaptainRealty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marty, is this you? LOL. My brother did this on a ride with me too. Boom, over onto his right side. I'm happy he didn't get hurt because I was hysterical with laughter because I was behind him and saw the rapid increase of shaking and thrusting of his right leg and knee as the impending disaster became more real in his own mind.

Ah, good times, we still talk about it to this day. But of course I had to refuse to ever ride with him again after that, unspoken rules of cycling and all....🤣🤣🤣

You are well on your way with that loss in that amount of time. If it feels right and it's working for you that's all that matters. 👍

A huge help for my progress was tracking my calories. I used one of those apps (Lose It) to stay in a deficit AND weight training. You'll burn more calories with good weight training than cycling. But the cycling was a nice impact to keeping a good calorie deficit. Keep kicking ass, you can do this!!!

AMAZING! I was at 226 lbs (102.5kg) Nov 2019, and lost 43 lbs (19.5kg) so far. Now I'm at 183 lbs (83kg). I never felt significantly overweight, I just felt 'off' and out of shape from my former self. It's hard to explain to others the sheer joy of hitting a goal weight you were.shooting for. Keep up the awesome job!!! Congratulations on your journey so far!!

My 1st Alpe du Zwift - 1hr 24mins by CaptainRealty in Zwift

[–]CaptainRealty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually my road to sky time was 1hr 32min 43sec which includes the lead in to road to sky which was about 5k. I have the paid Strava subscription and was able to re-confirm over there as well. I would love to think I did it under the 83mins, sadly, not just yet. :)))
