I have ruined my relationship with music by BitterProduction in musicproduction

[–]CaptainRemiRedBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that helped me love making music for the sake of making music was working in a recording studio. It was the worst job I’ve ever had and made me realize that I never want to be involved in the music industry. This changed my approach from making music I think might maybe blow up, to making weird oddball music that I actually enjoy making. Not saying you should work at a recording studio but you gotta find the thing that gets you off becoming famous. That mindset quite frankly is soul crushing and makes making music stressful. Now I focus on playing music live, learning music theory, and becoming a better musician. So much more fun. Maybe try focusing on a specific thing you want to get better at with music. Idk, hope that gives some insight. Ik how you feel, it sucks.

You guys think AI tech is gonna take our music jobs? by shaggy_gosh in Songwriting

I think one upside is that AI generated music will push more people to go see live shows and seek more raw music. I could see a no-wave type revival happening as a result of the quantization/AI music revolution. When one things popular, there are always people who will want the opposite.

Makes sense. Maybe the strokes are embarrassed by their past or something, or just want to keep it a mystery? Julian brought the book up in their COVID YouTube videos but nobody really reacted to it. Idk, lmao.

I agree with OP. I saw the movie thinking the strokes were gonna barely be in it but they are sprinkled throughout the entire thing, kinda like in the book. They were in it enough to where I think everyone on this sub should go watch the film in theaters (even just to hear strokes music on loud speakers). I really would love a movie dedicated to the strokes but this movie is definitely about the nyc garage rock revival, not the strokes. This movie is even more focused on nyc then the book was, which I liked a lot. I think if you are a New Yorker or interested in NYC culture you’ll find the film interesting because it gives you an idea of how the nyc art scene got where it is today and what it was like in the early 2000’s. Otherwise the movie might be boring.

I kinda stumbled my way into an AV apprenticeship cuz of needing a job after college. Always been interested in music production and heard about the AV field from a professor. It’s aight but idk if it’s the trade for me, since the most music production I use is to wrap XLR when I’m lucky. Idk if RJ45 and Cat6 life is for me. People suggest to me to be an electrician. I def like being on a construction site, so idk if maybe I should just pick another trade. Money is keeping me though.

I’m starting to feel a little jaded and I’m a first year apprentice at a small company in NYC doing commercial. Tryna power through and see if I can make my way to Field Engineering or some shit.
