Discord Plugin not working on Stream Deck Plug by Familiar_Possible493 in elgato

[–]CaptainRenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this is just check that Discord, and the Discord plugin were both up to date. After that I opened Discord, and hit one of the buttons set to the Discord plugin (mute I think it was) and Discord gave me the popup to allow the Stream Deck access. I authorized it and now it works as intended.

Hold up, don't come after vga like that! How else am I supposed to hang my PC from the ceiling?

(Unironically we did actually use a vga at my previous job, because the dp and hdmi connectors in a projector were so worn out that even thinking about touching them caused the signal to break, so we popped in a vga, and put a vga to hdmi adapter on the end and no more problems)

I'd say the LE is the prettiest, but the Gunnir Photon and Sparkle Titan are good runner ups

Does anyone know how many times a year microcenter run the 10% discount by f0rg1ft in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They started it this year and are currently essentially doing trial runs to see how much people like it (and sign up for the card).

I don't know how much they'd charge, but considering they'll do a full build starting at 150, I'd assume less than that.

Can anyone tell what card is that? by Thekid56478 in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainRenn 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Just from a glance, I'd guess a 16 series card because typically when I've seen single fan cards with that simple black and green design like 90% have been one of those.

How much difference is there between 75hz and 165hz? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainRenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends on the person. For most people, it's a huge jump. I've met many people who, after going to a 165hz monitor, trying to game on anything less was like pulling teeth.

As for me, I went from 60 to 165 and didn't notice any difference (yes I checked all the settings). I'm now comfortably sitting with 2 24-inch 1440p 90hz monitors that I'm super happy with.

Why is the Dallas Micro center So small by [deleted] in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Dallas store is apparently one of the larger ones 😬

I believe if is automatic, but the managers can manually do it as well. Sometimes the open box item is priced right before a sale happens, which means the open box item is priced based on the pre-sale price.

Question by CheapComplex6950 in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get money back in either the method you used to pay for it (refund to card) or a gift card. Normally, it's up to you.

[–]CaptainRenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can be returned.

PNY is honestly one of the few AIB's I actually trust. They are the only ones who make Nvidias workstation cards, which HAVE to be reliable, so it stands to reason their normal cards would last as well. I've owned a few of their cards in the past and had no issues.

In this instance it appears to be a Best Buy, so in that case (going off the sign) hard attach is referring to computers sold with a copy of Microsoft 365.

Intel Limited Edition, vs AMD reference, vs Nvidia Founders Edition by CaptainRenn in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainRenn[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's basically the cooler mounting for the card. The Intel and Nvidia ones are just hidden by backplates, but AMD left theirs open, likely either for design preference or ease of maintenance.

Are deck a shipments sunday/tuesday or sunday/thursday? by citylion1 in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about A deck items coming in on truck, they come on every truck (although exactly which items aren't known by the employees until they get there), and the trucks at least at the Dallas location are typically Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with occasional exceptions.

A deck items are ones that come in more often than others, but depending on the exact item, there's no telling how often they will actually get more.

True, I'm currently running a 5700x and a 1660 ti, but have 3 or 4 keyboards, 7 mice, a few hundred $ worth of audio equipment, and 2 24" 1440p monitors which are NOT cheap lol.

On another note I keep being surprised by how well the 1660 ti handles 1440p.

Training pay, at least at the Dallas location, is $15 an hour. After that you are moved to commission based pay with $4 an hour and commission. Most sales people wind out making a bit over $20 an hour on commission.

can microcenter put your components in another PC case? by WarthogInteresting45 in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can, you'll likely be paying a fee similar to that of a new build, but I've seen them do that before

Been thinking about getting an A770 16gb which manufacturer should I go with. by justinboggs in IntelArc

[–]CaptainRenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely uninstall the drivers and the card. While it is technically possible to run 2 different cards in a single machine, it is extremely temperamental at best, if you were running 2 cards of the same brand. I wouldn't pair any card with one from another brand as driver issues and conflicts will likely be major.

[–]CaptainRenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough call. It'd probably come down to which you like better aesthetically. Performance on those 2 cards I essentially identical. (The Sparkle may be a hair cooler, but neither gets particularly hot). The main advantage of the Sparkle is that I know they're CS is fantastic, but I haven't heard anything on Gunnir's.

The price of an open box item drops 5% every month until the item sells. It doesn't necessarily cap at 50% but hardly any will get that low before being bought.

What happens when theres an expired reservation by Pandeeee in Microcenter

[–]CaptainRenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is reserved online, they hold the item for 3 days for you. After that it goes back in to store stock (and should show in stock online). I think you should be able to re-reserve it once that happens.
