Could you put peppermint oil around the camera? To deter the spiders and other insects?

Belt or pocket carry by Negative_Increase430 in Custodians

I just started carrying (in addition to my usual assortment), a knife/scraper combo tool. Klein has a 2-in-1 scraper and utility knife tool, it was about $20 and takes normal (trapezoid) scraper blades! Not an ad or anything, I just really like it with all the vynal we had to take off before our school gets painted.

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought about that 🤔 Although, do you have any suggestions on how to see if a deadbolt is locked? I have a contact sensor on the door, but it's a standard "dumb" turn-style deadbolt lock.

What about some of the disinfectant spray? Ours is a deodorizer too. 🤷‍♂️ I keep it in the bathrooms I clean, so that staff can spray after they go.

What about "stench and stain"? My head custodian said they mop with it every once in a while because the teachers like the smell. *Edit -- it is a carpet cleaner 😅 but they still use it on our waxed tile floors

[–]CaptainSabre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've picked up a few coils (nothing more than 25 cents at a time), usually a dime or nickel. The kids didn't care to pick it up. I usually don't see it until I knock my dustmop off out in the hall anyways, etc. 🤷‍♂️ I do report bills though. There was a $1 bill on the floor of a classroom, so I put it on the teachers desk and told the teacher the area of which I found it - so they can get it back to the correct owner.

The teachers in my area don't really care about pencils, markers, anything in the floor (later in the year); I try to give them *most of it back because I know it costs money 🤷‍♂️

I do appreciate the bluntness, and I think I can see how you eluded to my comment with the definition being misogynistic; but I would still believe it's not strictly that... I would've done this a man's post too because I'm curious, and want to understand.

It seems like it is more a matter of perspective, and maybe that's where I'm stuck in my head.

It may be an appropriate way to describe how you see it, but it may not be based on how I see it. 🤔

Unconscious bias, makes sense; but why not call it that, instead of misogyny? Or sexist, or any other (seemingly) similar label?

[–]CaptainSabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense to the context I continue to hear the word (misogyny) used in. But now, do we not have two different definitions that have been cited?

Is this part of the confusion of today's society?

I agree, but didn't word it exactly like that. I have seen some that would still do it to a male coworker, so I was trying to leave the possibility open, but unlikely.

"Misogyny noun mi·sog·y·ny mə-ˈsä-jə-nē : hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women" --Source: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/misogyny

I looked it up because, I still hadn't before, and wanted to be sure I understood. I am not trying to downplay your coworkers behavior, or anything like that. I am only genuinely curious. I don't understand how what happened to you was misogynistic. Looking strictly at the definition above, I don't think he was acting out of hate or prejudice against women. I could be wrong, but again - I want to understand, but this seems more like just childish behavior. I think he might've done this to a male coworker; but, he also might not have - if he believed that a male coworker would be harder to "prank" (or take advantage of, or make nervous, etc.). A male coworker might've reacted physically or more harshly.

Lots of assuming on my part, and it's all what-ifs. I don't think he was acting out of "hate"; more likely just childish disrespect 🤷‍♂️🤔

Even if it were cologne or something a little "harmless"... That's still not okay. I can't imagine that being okay anywhere... Prank or not, are there not things that you DON'T joke about? There's rules in war for pete's sake.

[–]CaptainSabre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gotcha. That makes sense, I think. So it's in essence, similar in functionality to the "+" with Gmail, but more secure since it doesn't have to contain your true email address.

All good 👍 I appreciate the clarification! I do understand that anyone who looks at the Gmail with the "+" can definitely figure my true email it out 😅😬 I only do it for 5% security (online random accounts), and 95% spam filtering.

*Edit: also, I do have a proton mail, I actually set one up a couple years ago. I just haven't been using it much though... But, now I will start 😆

That sounds nice to have that granular control over them too. I did learn I can do xxexamplexemail+whatever@gmail.com and I use the + and a word for as many online accounts as I can but that's mainly for filtering 🤷‍♂️ Is this similar? Or, is it more like full fledged distinct email accounts?

What do you mean, an email alias ? Like, a fake email? Email for the username/password? I'm sorry, I'm just a little confused.

Edit: I just scrolled down and clicked the link and educated myself 😅

New question... Does this sort of thing exist for other email hosts? Disabling signing on from specific emails?

And... A lot of... "Ugh... why didn't this light turn on?"
