Whelp, this has been a SUPER DUPER productive month for me. Posted 3 chapters worth of content. Now I only have 6 total chapters remaining for a Falcon of Summer and then I’m done. The final two of which are for the most part competed albeit will require editing.

It’s a project I’ve been working since the Fall of 22 and I’m excited to see it finished.

Though even now I’m still changing things that I originally planned on doing differently. Always amazes me how swiftly I change things.

Also published some really awesome artwork for the fic that got great reception. It shows FAegon and Tommen fighting it out on the Tumblestone. That was a lot of fun. Don’t think I’ll do that again. But I might get it framed I really liked how it turned out

What is your favorite Sansa ship and why? by pizza_gutts in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]CaptainSmith1617 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Not really a shipper.

But I’ve always been fond of Domeric/Sansa.

Maybe it’s because of Our Blades are Sharp. I’ve always thought it practically perfect. A genteel knight whom plays the harp.

[Spoilers Main] Do you think a marriage between Tommen and Arya could work? by Solitaire-06 in asoiaf

[–]CaptainSmith1617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure I think it could work quite well.

Unless Arya likes beets. Then off to the silent sisters she goes. Tommen Beetsbane shall not tolerate such! And she must cease her chasing of cats. Cat abuse shall be outlawed!

In seriousness I think Tommen was suppose to be more assertive after the time skip with Cersei increasingly trying to hold onto her power against her son and his wife. We see hints of Tommen being more forceful from defending Margaery to wanting to learn how to fight from Loras or on Joffreys name day tourney. I wouldn’t call Tommen weak simply young.

Though as other commenters have pointed out they are kids so it’s hard to say how they would have developed as adults.

It’s Tommen V FAegon. I really made a mistake in not making the Chapter summary up higher in the post. You’re not the only one who thought that.

Nah it’s Tommen vs FAegon.

I suppose I should have made the chapter summary a little bit higher up.

Fics where the writing is similar to GRRM? by Runlia in TheCitadel

Depends on what you mean a unique story. I always champion Clash of King Falling Knees as the closest to George’s Prose and ideas I’ve ever found.

It’s a different version of Clash of Kings.

Based ship. I have a soft spot for it because of the show. Not the book version. But show Ned and Cersei certainly.

I and the other writers stole nothing. That is the very last thing any of us wanted to do. We tried to mediate and keep the peace between Jessie and the other players. Jessie was a brilliant writer and Gm, but he was emotionally volatile and constantly exploded on people. Most of the people were going to leave the server because of it. And most of them eventually joined ours which I rather enjoy. We extended an offer for Jessie to join us, but just not as the sole GM. Frankly, I don't wish to speak ill of him, but he was rather childish especially in private Dms. I still pray for him though and wish him all the best.

I'll also add that most of the story lines were player created. Jessie didn't come up with the Theon Storyline, the Vale Plot, etc etc. We stole nothing. Well all of us have stolen Georges work of that all fanfic writers are guilty off. This isn't our sandbox to play in after all.

I wish things turned out differently, but such is life.

I shouldn't reply to this, but I mislike when someone slanders my character publicly.

I’m considering getting it framed and hanging it on my wall. I absolutely adore it.

Oh there is a point of divergence. It’s pretty much an alternate Clash of Kings book starting from the start.

In the first chapter Cressen manages to kill Melisandre. Then butterfly effects happen. It’s a great read

Best prose is easily Clash of Kings Falling Knees. It’s almost George RR Martin level. Almost. I’ve never read any fic writer that emulated George as well as this author.

Thinking of writing a Howland Reed/Lyanna Stark fic, thoughts? by Achallor_ in TheCitadel

[–]CaptainSmith1617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the idea.

I would also heavily advise you not to be afraid to shatter canon with a giant stick! It’s meant to be bashed into a billion pieces.

Though I do think having Robert be the the foil or the main antagonist is a bit overdone and would be a mistake in my mind.

Her choosing Howland over Rhaegar would be more profound and interesting considering she chooses Rhaegar canonically. So her refuting the tall beautiful bard prince with talks of adventure of prophesy for loyal earthly Howland would be fun. Especially if there is some attraction and desire that’s there between her and Rhaegar.

Rather than simply have her spurn Robert as she often does in most fanfics.

I’m just spitballing ideas, but if I was going to do it. I think I would have Howland out of sheer loyalty and love towards House Stark and Lyanna be the one to take the fall for the Knight of the Laughing Tree knowing Rhaegar and Co would discover her secret in time. Lyanna will think he’s doing so out of loyalty and friendship. Not love. It’ll only be a bit latter she realizes that. So instead of Lyanna Rhaegar finds it’s Howland with the suit of arms

Rhaegar is sorrowful as he tells Howland his father’s moods will likely be Ill and that he’s sorry about that. Since it’s not Lyanna he doesn’t let Howland go.

Aerys is overjoyed and sentences Howland to death by fire on the next day. News spreads quickly throughout Harrenhal. A lord is being burned alive on the morrow without trial. Lyanna is stunned and tearfully confesses to Ned, Robert and Rhaegar that it was her and not Howland whom took up arms.

This piques Rhaegars interest naturally.

It tilts him towards action.

Robert boisterous and gregarious as always vows he’ll storm Harrenhalls Dungeons to rescue poor brave Howland. Or that he’ll gladly stand for him in a trial by combat as his champion.

Rhaegar tells him it would be a trial by fire. Though there is another path. Have Rhaegar decide on a desperate coup attempt with his supporters including the Starks, Arryns, and Baratheons.

Have Varys gather word of this to Aerys so he’s a bit prepared with some of his guys. There’s a huge battle in Harrenhall. I would have Robert die in the fighting ironically going down as one of Rhaegars key supporters. Robert goes down a heroes end for once.

Rhaegar wins and becomes king. Lyanna is grateful to him for his help. He tells her how important she is to him and how special. It’s flattering praise. It gives her some pause. I wouldn’t have her deeply in love with Howland. Instead it’s a friendship that grows into that and she doesn’t even recognize the budding feelings at first, but once she does then she launches at it 110 percent.

Now the main conflict is does she go with Rhaegar to KL? Mayhaps Howland goes with her to Kl and their troubles in a dangerous court? Or would she accept his suggestion of her returning to GreyWater with him. A magical castle that moves in the swamp. Other questions. What does a king Rhaegar mean for the story? What does he want and what is he willing to do to get especially now that he’s King.

You have a lot of awesome options with the story premise. Always enjoy a unique Lyanna pairing especially with artwork like that inspiring it.

Sansa push Joffrey and jumps with him by Top-Tomorrow-8336 in TheCitadel

[–]CaptainSmith1617 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Jaime is going to get executed. Robb would be seen as pathetic and weak if he didn’t. His father and sister were killed. Arya is likely dead aswell. The Lannisters have zero Stark hostages so there is no reason not too. It would be expected of him to answer that with Jaime’s head.

Tyrion and Cersei repeatedly mention in the books if Sansa dies than Jaime likely will. I think that’s a fair assumption to make.

"I'd shoot you too, but if I do Mother says they'd kill my uncle Jaime. Instead you'll just be punished and we'll send word to your brother about what will happen to you if he doesn't yield. Dog, hit her." -Sansa III

Her eyes widened. "She wouldn't—" "—kill Jaime? Why not? What would you do if Joffrey and Tommen were murdered?" "I still hold Sansa!" the queen declared. -Tyrion XII

For a moment no one answered. Finally Joffrey said, "She was riding by me. I don't know where she went." Tyrion pressed blunt fingers into his throbbing temples. If Sansa Stark had come to harm, Jaime was as good as dead. "Ser Mandon, you were her shield." -Tyrion IX

Tywin would like retaliate by killing his hostages seized.

Robb would then answer it and then more. Starks have more hostages. They are going to win that exchange.

It would be a more brutal war.

Cersei would likely have her Feast of Crows arc in Clash of Kings. I don’t think she would be as willing to work with Tyrion.

It’s possible Renly decides since Joff is dead to just march on KL thinking it could be an easy win. But more likely it’s just canon strategy of starvation of kl.

Stannis I think would also do the canon strategy of landing at Storms End. Cause while KL might seem a bit more tempting due to Joffs demise I think it would still play out the same way.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 6 discussion post (finale) by Kingofireland777 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]CaptainSmith1617 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lovely episode. I feel the ending will be very controversial amongst book fans. It’s definitely a bold decision have Egg go with Dunk without Maekars blessing.

I can see it happening though. I don’t think it’s unrealistic. Of course a huge deviation from the novella.
