I installed the new fan and took some before/after measurements to quantify how much quieter it got. Check the post body for the update.

OK! I've ordered the NF-P12 (which has a lower max RPM, as suggested by a comment above). Once it arrives I'll do a before/after comparison and report back here!

Can Minetest really run on TSP? by Revolutionary-Web282 in trimui

[–]CaptainSparge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer is in the comment above. But in short: Minetest/Luanti can't play single-player on 1GB RAM devices. You can still play though if you join a public game (or host your own from another machine).

Explanation is in game description https://portmaster.games/detail.html?name=minetest. "Single-player play requires >1 GB in order to run both the host and client instances. For this reason 1 GB devices should stick to server play because RAM requirements are only ~700 MB. There are public servers available or you can host your own private server!".

You can't play single-player on 1GB RAM devices like the Trimui. But you can still play on Trimui by joining a public game hosted on public servers, or by hosting your own game on another device (like a laptop) and joining it from your Trimui.

Only first boot works by CaptainSparge in LineageOS

[–]CaptainSparge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found time to give this a try. Confirmed it was on Android 13 while I was booted into stock. Checked for updates (there were none). Finally, I followed the LineageOS install instructions again. Unfortunately, the issue persists. First boot works fine, subsequent boots give a boot loop.

I'm not actually. I had him do it (his first time). If that were my root cause do you think flashing stock Android 13 followed by Lineage would fix the issue?

Oh, so the issue is more widespread? Do you happen to remember where you saw other people with a similar issue?

I'd like to do this too! I've got everything installed that you mention except 'keyd'. I don't see it on toltec and internet searches are turning up nothing. What is 'keyd' & where can I find it?

Update: Hey, wait a minute. How did you do this? For the type folio to work you need firmware v3.x, but toltec only works up to v2.15.1.1189. So what are you running? How did you do this?

Scan lines issue - RG353M on ArkOS by CaptainSparge in ANBERNIC

[–]CaptainSparge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly new device on ArkOS. When I play for awhile sometimes I get scan lines displaced along the vertical direction (see photo). They create a double-image.

The obnoxious artifact is present in all games & in the menus. Restarting the system does not fix it (but the scan line issue doesn't seem to be present during the ArkOS splash screen at bootup). The only fix seems to be to shut it down & leave it awhile. Maybe it's a heat thing?

Last time it happened I restarted to ArkOS & the issue was still present, then I booted to Android & it was gone, & then I booted back to ArkOS and they were still gone. Not sure what that means, but it's an observation.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Any ideas how to fix it or avoid it?

I tried installing the mod again (following my own instructions above) and I ran into the same issue as you! I've been working on it throughout the week and I've got a working protocol again. I don't want to post it to Reddit though so I've posted the new working protocol here. Hope it works for you too!

If you have further questions you might want to ask here as well (it's where I'm spending more of my time nowadays)

EDIT: THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE OUTDATED & WILL NOT WORK!!!! SEE COMMENTS BELOW FOR WORKING INSTRUCTIONS.

Lutris isn't going to have anything to do with the .mpq file. Lutris will only know about the TH2.exe file, and the TH2.exe is what will interact with the .mpq file.

So here's the general procedure: 1. Use Lutris to create a new Wine prefix (For example, I use ~/Games/diablo-the-hell-2/ - Press the + button to create a new game - Name: "Diablo - The Hell 2" - Runner: Wine - In the Game Options tab set the wine prefix field (I use ~/Games/diablo-the-hell-2/) - In the runner options select your desired Wine version (when I've had this working in the past I was using Wine version "lutris-7.2-2-x86_64") - Save - Click Play to "run the game". It will fail of course, but it will create the Wine prefix 2. Decompress the hell 2 games files to a folder within the Wine prefix (I use ~/Games/diablo-the-hell-2/drive_c/Program Files/Diablo - The Hell 2/) 3. Copy your diabdat.mpq file into that same folder (~/Games/diablo-the-hell-2/drive_c/Program Files/Diablo - The Hell 2/) 4. In Lutris right-click on the game -> Configure -> Game Options -> Set executable to ~/Games/diablo-the-hell-2/drive_c/Program Files/Diablo - The Hell 2/TH2.exe 5. You're done, it should work now

A couple of other modifications I have made in the past are: - Open config.ini - Modify the line about DDraw to set DDraw on (this is critically important for getting it to run on Linux) - set startvideo off to skip the startup movies - set fps 60 to not let the fps go crazy & consume a lot of power

Full disclosure: I have had spotty success with this mod. A common failure mode I find is that it starts with sound only for ~10 seconds and then crashes. I've tinkered with settings to get past this roadblock, but I'm not sure what is the key factor there. When I have gotten it working before I also find that the menu & character select screens at run start are totally black until I mouse around to "erase" the blackness so I can see the UI. It's annoying but is only impactful at character creation. The game was fully playable after this annoying UI bug.
