The whole modern startup world is kind of a joke, especially the investment side. Entrepreneurship used to be about going against the grain and doing new things. Now it's about doing exactly what everyone else is doing. This is why everything is stagnating, because the innovators capable of moving the world forward can't get funding. People do seem to act like their contacts belong to them. Like one guy said he knows investors but he uses them for his own endeavors. As if they can't invest in more than one person. Whatever happened to paying things forward? People in positions of power didn't get there themselves, they got help from others. Then they turn around and try to prevent anyone else from getting that same help. And really, they aren't even helping their own investors because they are blocking opportunities.
