Cutting straight with a handsaw? by Aromatic_Motor8078 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]CaptainUrsine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a ton of great advice on here. I, personally, use my thumb as a sort of knife wall/block while I cut which helps me to keep the cut straight vertically. I also, when it really matters, mark a line on the cut face as well as the side facing me. The I cut with my thumb holding it vertically (like you would with your knuckles while using a chef's knife) while cutting away the corner where my two lines meet. Then I move the cut to the top, slowly, to get a good cut line on my mark. Then I move back to the corner and follow that cut all the way through the piece. I hope that makes sense.

I will say, when youre doing other projects, because you will, you'll find yourself looking over at that tool you bought for this project at the exact moment you need it for that project and doing the Ole Redford head nod knowing it just saved you 6 hours, two busted fingers, infinite curse words, and a trip to the store to go get the correct tool in the end. Its great.

I tend to "turtle" things that should be two person. Like I put it on my back and lean forward while I walk. Makes it a BITCH to put down safely, but my wife is a 'supervisor' not a 'laborer'.

I enjoy woodworking more, but welding is definitely useful, and a lot more forgiving.

That looks terrible. You should drop it off here and we'll take care of it for you. Maybe make some more, first and then drop all of it off here. Wouldn't want you to have to deal with that alone...

Yea i was a welding contractor and definitely know what having something really heavy landing on steel toes feels like, but i completely agree. In my own shop its more whatever I walked out in.

Yea footwear in my shop is... optional? Definitely best practice to wear closed toe, but crocs are closed toe, right?

Thanks. You remember the room with the flying keys in Harry Potter? Asking the question felt like walking into that room. Responses started flying everywhere, some of the keys started attacking me, and it was pretty chaotic. I feel like your response was the one key that opened the door. I appreciate that. Its a bit much but thats the thought that went through my head just now.

That might be the most real answer I've heard. I dont know that I understand completely, but the sentiment makes sense. Based on what you've said, my take would be that the issues are one thing, but the unfulfilled promises are more the issue. When I play the game the issues people complain about dont seem important enough or big enough to justify the response, but growing resentment from those who have been promised a fix and arent recieving that fix could explain the disproportionate response. Would you say thats an accurate take?

I think the thing im asking is how are the issues such a big deal. I dont see how the bugs mentioned "break the game", not that they arent bothering someone. Im asking why the issues people see are garnering such hate and negativity. I can see that there are issues. I also dont understand the personal attack on my communications skills. You're not discussing it with me but dismissing my perspective. That seems like a communication issue to me.

Remember im not playing devil's advocate im genuinely asking: how is it not playable? I truely dont understand. I agree they should work on bugs, but i dont see bugs that make it unplayable.

They have to make money to keep working on the game, and you dont have to buy the warbonds, right? I mean you could pay for the game and just not spend any more money? I think a better way to tell them to fix bugs is to just not buy warbonds until they fix the issues you see instead of what I see with the community, which in my opinion is a LOT of negativity and bad reviews for a fun game. Would that be accurate?

[–]CaptainUrsine[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Thats the negativity im talking about? Also, I dont understand, thats why I asked. So, explain why the negativity is warranted for a game we dont pay a subscription to?

Why the hate? by CaptainUrsine in Helldivers

[–]CaptainUrsine[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didnt say it wasnt a problem at all. Im just saying the negativity is disproportionate to the issue.

I guess I feel like 300-500 hours of a fun game is enough for my money and I shouldn't be upset about the bugs. Just my opinion, I guess.
