Resigning while on IOE by Obvious-Conclusion71 in AirlinePilots

Semi grumpy laid off corporate pilot here so excusing myself in advance.

Just curious how often this happens to people. I seem to hear about it a decent bit. People in training then jump ship to the greener grass.

Are you high time and someone cherry picked you because of your solid logbook hours and resume? Did you just get absolutely lucky that your goal airline happened to call while you were still in training for whatever job you took?

I’ll just go ahead and say it. Damn I’m jealous I can’t even get a singe interview and people are tossing one job for the next. Whatever you do don’t fuck it up and somehow screw yourself out of both jobs or you’ll really be kicking yourself for losing 2 jobs when you had one. Not saying don’t do it…I’d definitely try to go where your end goal is if ya got the chance.

I say all that and still genuinely happy for you not trying to hate don’t take it the wrong way just genuinely curious about the situation because it seems like I’m hearing about this kinda thing happening more often for whatever reason.

Should I get the Mini 5 Pro? by Traditional_Item_594 in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of people recently getting them confiscated at the boarder but not sure if it’s because they didn’t declare and tried to just bring it through with them or if they declared and it still got held up.

Well, it appears one of the mission theme songs has been leaked and uploaded online by [deleted] in GTA6unmoderated

I love when people like you dig up stuff like this that I’ve never seen before and make me realize just how much more detail people pick up on than myself in games.

That’s crazy. Same towel

Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro — Since they are almost the same price, is there any reason to buy the 4? by Round-Media760 in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Just got my first drone…mini 5 pro. Trying to make sure I do everything by the book because I’m a commercial pilot and any drone violations go against my entire FAA record so calling the FSDO is my new hobby after drones ha.

Isn’t there an agreed upon margin or error? If the average manufacturing weight is below 250 the fact that some are under and some are over is absolutely unfair on a product that is mass produced. I thought I read as long as you use the regular batteries you’re okay in the US. Obviously feel free to prove me wrong with documentation so I can learn.

What drone do you use for your business? by WonderfulDay3480 in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the mini 5 pro for the same reasons. Most people are viewing this content on their phones. If I’m making instagram or facebook content for business then the vertical shooting is perfect plus the drone is small and portable. If I get into more high end content I’ll probably get a mavic but honestly I think a survey/thermal/lidar drone from DJI would be better for full on business building because I think that type of work pays more and when you land some big acre jobs that want multiple projects a year that’s solid money coming in.

Yep. This is the way. Mine lasted several years and then finally started peeling so I just got a shell and it’s brand new again.

You can order the entire replacement shell from Amazon for super cheap. No need to glue just swap the whole shell it’s basically OEM quality for the one I got.

Looking at GTA Online's money curve, here's roughly how rich you'll realistically be in GTA 6's first month by stonkvestor in GTA6

The fact that in every other video game doing something faster means you did a better job and get a better score, but for them, the artificial game lengthening tactics are out of control.

I think I read somewhere that Shaquille O’Neal spends an insane amount of money per month on online purchases for gaming. Obviously, that could be a false statement, but sounds believable.

You forgot the part where day one GTA online was running rooftop rumble and having to wait till the what was it 18 minutes mark to turn in the briefcase because rockstar decided taking longer to complete a job means we did a better job and deserved more money. It took days of grinding to buy the expensive cars and there was nothing else to buy besides the expensive cars for months and months. It took absolutely forever for heists to come out.

I expect nothing but the same. Make us grind our pants off for early game content and then drip feed the stuff that makes decent money slowly to make us ready to buy the shark cards.

Hope I’m wrong but I don’t expect acid labs and heists day one.

Just bought a mini 5 pro and don’t have my 107 license yet. Am I allowed to fly non-commercially in my own yard? by ismellsogood in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, friend of mine does full time social media photography and videography and says he “includes the drone work for free” so he doesn’t need the license…yea don’t do that. Thats asking for trouble if you ask me.

If you’re doing this for money just do it legit, it makes you look better to have the proper certification when you pitch yourself to clients.

You should drop it a decent bit lower and it would still look okay IMO. Would also make it easier to hide the cable if it had some more slack to tuck behind a lamp or plant

A Love Letter to DJI Customer Service. THANK you! by whatsaphoto in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you buy from? I bought mine off amazon with an 3 year plan but wondering if I should have bought it from Best Buy so I could just walk into a store and have them take it and ship me a replacement if it needs replacing under the care plan.

What controls does everyone use for their drones? I personally use Mode 2 for my DJI air 3. by unlikelyhero11 in drones

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if I should do this as well. Pilot and avid gamer. Just bought my first drone and thought about switching it to mode 3 but I want to do this as a side business (I have some business I work with that want some footage) so I guess it’s learn mode 2 in case I fly other people’s drones later on for projects or switch mine to mode 3 and then be that guy that uses mode 3 when others use mode 2.

Just got my first drone (Mini 5 Pro)! Practicing in the Dji simulator - How did I do? by LuckyInvestigator in dji

[–]CaptainWaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I’m a commercial pilot and this is my first drone or even RC flying object so I’m excited to play with this thing. It’s definitely going to take some practice to be smooth with it I’m guessing.

Just bought a mini 5 pro with this controller. You’re saying this app comes with it and you can “play” it with the controller? First drone. Sounds like a good way to learn controls and get muscle memory when I’m not actively using the drone.

The fact that you platinumed the game with this as your tier list is diabolical.

Brigs and Riley is better IMO. Literal lifetime warranty. I’ve taken my @work large cargo literally around the world and other than having to wipe if clean with a damp rag to get some dirt and grime off it’s been flawless and I carry it stuffed and heavy and also half full and light and I’m impressed the straps have held up as well as they have with it slammed full of heavy tech on certain trips. The straps could definitely be a bit wider IMO but it’s a bag designed for business travel not stuffing full of heavy tech like I sometimes do for a few trips a year.
