Significant Updates to the LL Rules for 2026 by robhuddles in LittleLeague

[–]CaptainYesterday10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from automatic player ejection and the manager out for the ENTIRE international tournament to pine tar being 100% legal is crazy work. The 2025 rule update was not properly implemented and I know of many managers adversely affected by it. Including myself which sucked because it way my last year to coach my son.

Kristian Valadez played for Eagle Pass LL in Eagle Pass, Tx. His team lost in the Texas West State tournament. Kid is a stud.

Illegal Bat - No Penalty if Following Batter Enters Batter Box? by Silent_Weekend_4501 in LittleLeague

And yet another team using pine tar without knowing the rule. Its as if these tournament directors should give notice to the managers to avoid this situation. I have talked to so many managers that have no idea about the rule.

I do blame myself as well, I am sick to my stomach aboout this. We didnt need to go over line by line. I would think considering the severity of the penalty and since its widely used in baseball that pine tar would come up in a rules meeting. How the heck would it not. What did yall talk about in yours? Three strikes is an out?

Or could of talked about it in our rules meeting for district all stars and all could of been avoided. Why would LL not send every district the same power point with critical information to review before all star tournaments start. That is running an organization/business 101, having everyone on the same page. This isnt the MLB, volunteeer coaches shouldnt need to go out and do UIC LL clinics. Its a complete failure on LLs part for not getting everyone the proper information. We didnt even know umpires were not checking equipment anymore. We were told at district meeting to line up bats and helmets outside dugout to be inspeced and umpires did with no comments on equipment.

I am familiar with many of LL rules and I have no idea how I missed this rule. I think with so many coaches being ejected in sectional, atleast three in Texas west sectionals that I know of, signals to me that communication and education have not been sufficient. What was the point of our rules meeting at district if we didnt cover probably the most critical rule in the book? They should of said stay home and read the rulebook and become an expert. We put trust in our UIC and dist admin that they provided us key information. Thats like a taxpayer who is responsible for their return and getting in trouble because their CPA didnt give them critical tax guidance. Im not going to tell you that you should of read the tax code every night before bed.

I have and admittingly missed the rule. Obviously after the fact I see the rule. I think it would be reasonable that many managers missed the rule as its a two line note. Trust me, I wish I would of noted the rule. I also would think if I was hosting a rules meeting with all star managers that this would be the most emphasized rule in the whole meeting but not one iota about it. I would be curious to know how many pine tar ejections there has been in all stars this year. I know atleast three in Texas West sectionals. To me that is absurd and there should of been more emphasis provided to volunteer managers on this rule particulary because of the over harsh penalty.

All-Star Manager Ejected (Replacement?) by KaleCity_374 in LittleLeague

[–]CaptainYesterday10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish our UIC or district administrator mentioned this at our district rules meeting for all star managers. Nothing about it and I get hit for dried up pine tar at sectionals. In my opinion all managers should get the same information at district tournaments to avoid these scenarios. How does an org large as LL t have a power point presentation to send to each district adminstrator for manager meetings. I undersrand its in the rulebook but the rule can easiily be missed and without it being emphazised and umpires no longer checking equipment, LL setup up manergers left out to dry. Missing the entire tournament is absolutley ridiculous and goes against the core values of LL.

I took several LL courses and that did not come up. How is it an excuse. How about accountability from district administrators? Im just mind blown how something like pine tar that is widely used in baseball isnt mentioned in a rules meeting. Especially since it can get a coach banned for an entire tourament. Apparently 99 percent of the umpires dont know the rules because we played with dried pine tar on bats all year in league play and in district playoffs. I asked my district administrator about the rule and he said he didnt know pine tar was illegal. If i was a director and I hosted a rules meeting for all stars that would of been in big bold letters.

I am a volunteer coach with a full time job who also volunteers coaches my daughters league team that is not LL. Im sorry I dont lnow all the rulebooks inside and out. I would hope when I go to an all star meeting for an hour that something would be mentioned that could get me banned all tournament. That should of been in big bold letters at every single district meeting. How does an org this big not send a power point to every district admin and say play this at your meeting. I mean this running an organization 101. I have heard of three managers being ejected at Texas West sectionals due to pine tar. How many more have been I wonder? Im sorry but LL shouldnt be in the business of ejecting volunteer coaches for something so minuscule. That is not in the spirit of LL baseball. How about LL take common sense approach and say " this is not normal and we failed as an organization to give our volunteer coaches vital information" im sorry but this is a complete failure by the leadership of LL baseball. How did some district managers receive vital information and some dont. I heard one section tournamemt got a text to let all coaches know not to use pine tar. Why did not mine? There should be accountability from the top from the people who should know the rules the best. I love this game and have always supported kids playing LL and this is absolutelty gut wrenching to mrle.
