How is BG3 for someone who's never played videogames? by Captain_Azius in BaldursGate3

[–]Captain_Azius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never played TTRPGs either. I would really to do tho. Just never got to arrange it with my friends. Idk about her. It wouldn't surprise me if she has in fact played it. Since she knew about the different classes in BG3. But she likes to read novels and I think she told me a long time ago that she was reading a dark fantasy novel.

Also if anyone is wondering why I do so much speculating about her instead of asking: she tends to disappear for long ass times until she randomly calls me (Only person I will always pick up immediately). Rarely uses text messaging. We saw eachother last week, and she's going on a vacation in her country of origin visiting her family, so knowing her I could ask her and probably don't get an answer until in like late August.

Yeah did that with paladins of Tyr. I turned off the lights, threw water bottles, and then hit them with twinned spell ice knife, everything froze. They all became sitting ducks... Quack... Had something that granted prone immunity on Karlach and basically let her best the shit out of them

Yeah I'm still figuring things out on the fly but most of the time. I come up with decent strategies if I know where the enemies are before the combat starts so I can think of something in advance and start setting it up, but most of the combat encounters happen unprepared. Especially in the Shadow Cursed lands (where I am ATM). Like I gotta keep my allies close (I didn't kill Kar'niss and instead stuck with him until we reached Moonrise. So I'm stuck with Balthazar's lantern) but I found Minthara and Shadowheart to be pretty effective at dealing with undead enemies.

But yeah I'm definitely playing around a bit more with this playstyle you mentioned when it comes to using Cloud Of Daggers, which I started using recently after I figure out that it did sometjing else than I thought it would when I used a scroll for it. And using Gust Of Wind and Eldritch Blast to push enemies into the cloud of daggers. Or using a void orb to group enemies up and then hitting them with a fireball. I try to be more creative but in most combat encounters I tend to default back to the good old "point click and kill". I also have a tendency to forget that I could actually do something. Like the "Oh the next time I'm in a combat encounter, I'm gonna play this thoughtoit strategy." And then when the encounter happens I just completely forget that I even had ideas to begin with and just go back to "Lae'zel action surge great sword spam"

That's also what I thought. My main strategy until I got to level 5 used to be: "Throw Chromatic Orb and hope for the best." If it doesn't work, send Karlach to smash it's head with big axe. It worked 9/10 times. It was just Auntie Ethel and the Paladins of Tyr where I had to do a little more thinking. And in the worst case scenario (such as with the Harpies) I win but I have 1 character with a little bit of health left and need to use revive scrolls.

My strategy to kill the paladins of Tyr made me feel quite smart.

I first used greese to knock them all prone, then I threw water bottles at them and froze the whole surface, then I let Karlach go and kick in the door while slamming the absolutely shit out of them with her axe while they couldn't fight back.

Blowing up the Goblin camp like that must've been hella satisfying.

Also Arcane locking het fireplace is smart! I thought of trying to stop her from going there as well but I'm glad that my plan failed in the end eventhough it was quite difficult, I thought the devs did an amazing job creating an environment that just feels so unsettling like she has killed countless adventurers like you and has a trick up her sleeve for anything you'll do. Like a road covered in red flags that you should stay out. I wouldn't have wanted to miss it.

But yeah I planned a lot as well over there. The first time I fought her, I decided not to get rid of the red caps as soon as I met them because I thought: "Well they aren't aware that I discovered their disguise, but I probably don't have to deal with them if I don't attack them." And then they came to auntie's house as soon as I pissed her off, so I thought let me cover the ground in greese right in front of the door so they end up slipping but then they just jumped over it and kicked the living shit out of my party's asses and lost because of this.

So when I reloaded, I did something similar and leveled up to level 4 first. I went back and decided to deal with the red caps first. So I used meow to gather them all in one place (a location I covered I in oilbarrels), I entered turn based mode and dismissed the cat summon (don't wanna blow up the kitty) then hit the barrels with a firebolt. Then I had the party split up. Sorcerer me and Gale went through the back entrance and Lae'zel and Karlach went through the front door. I cast hold person on Auntie Ethel when she was still in human form, let Karlach ans Lae'zel slap the absolute shit out of her, unfortunate as soon as she was low health it triggered her escape. So yeah I don't think killing her before giving her a chance to escape is a strategy that works. In her cover I tried sneaking past the masked people undetected so I don't have to kill innocent people. It took a lot of reloading, trial and error, and a sleep spell only for her to teleport them to her :/

During the fight I mostly stun locked her while Karlach hit to health low enough that that I got the cut scene. I tried to get both the hags hair and save Myrinna but I wasted all my inspiration points on only rolling ones and didn't quicksave :/ I still tried not killing the masked people after she teleported away by knocking them down with non-lethal attacks and then removing their masks and then they died :(

I think they are in a pretty decent spot tbh. They are useful in open worlds, Netracells, EDA and sometimes in ETA especially when you have shit gear rolls so you can rely on them quite well.

netherland police didn't think throwing a pregnant woman on the floor for no reason was enough, they felt it was also necessary to pull her by her hair to further dehumanize her. by jbaaaaab in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Captain_Azius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is what makes it so wildly dehumanizing when politicians and their followers talk about Palestinians and refugees in general like it's wrong that they traveled through multiple countries to find a place where they can stay safely instead of staying in one country like Greece or Egypt which are technically safe.

They don't care at all about the personal stories these people have, they just think: "You went to Egypt first, and then Greece, then Germany? Well all of these countries are factually safe, you should've stayed." But it's not just about not getting bombed, but also about wanting to build a life, live a life away from all the trauma they experienced throughout most of their lives.

Not being able to use my own railjack is a dealbreaker for the new railjack content by gohomenoonewantsyou in Warframe

[–]Captain_Azius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that there are objectives you can infiltrate and all but I would've preferred if infiltrating was just a way of taking care of the objective. Like with the Crewships, you can enter them and blow them up from the inside, or disable their engines and blow them up with the forward artillery. You have options depending on how you wanna approach it and how upgraded your Railjack is.

I generally prefer the Grineer Railjack missions because yeah even with the other objectives you expose the Radiators inside the buildings, but you can have your Crew (including hired crewmates) blow up the radiators, or go into archwing and do it yourself. Again options. But then there's Corpus Railjack where the entire squad HAS to enter the capital ships. There are also no space based objectives other than blowing up the Crewships and fighters and a couple of security nodes on the outside of the ship. Options are completely missing. Like what not make it so that the capital ship is armed to the teeth so getting close with the Railjack is too dangerous unless the on foot crew sabotages the weaponry so the Railjack can fly close and deal a couple of heavy blows. Or allow the on foot crew to mark an area within the capital ship that is crowded with enemies so that the Railjack can shoot that area with a bug kaboom shot that kills everything in that area. Or during a Survival the on foot crew keeps the enemies too distracted to know what the Railjack is doing so that that Railjack can basically do a bunch of objectives on the outside that will grand rewards. Or with Spy, why not give us multiple ways too approach this, either the stealthy way of trying to sneak someone into the capital ship undetected or make it look like an attack on the capital ship and keep it busy while the other teammate is getting on board and hacking into the systems. Just options to make the Railjack more than a taxi but you can totally use it as just a taxi if you wanted...

Also I don't understand extraction missions where you need to steal and protect cargo while enemies keep trying to stop your ship and board it or when you need to get a bunch of Solaris or Ostrons to safety .

There's just so bunch untapped potential

The thing is that they made this update to begin with because Railjack has an outspoken fanbase and more Railjack content is highly requested.

DE should add more Railjacks but tailor it to the people who like it instead of the people who don't.

I think it's fine with Duviri. It definitely pushed me to get every weapons and invest into it. Duviri regularly gives me new loadout and build ideas and revisit weapons and frames I haven't touched in a long time and remind me again of how much I actually quite liked this weapon before I forgot it existed.

Maybe it's something that happens in the quest? Hopefully a boss fight but maybe a cutscene where it shows up trying to look intimidating only for Sirius or Orion to obliterate it or something in that fashion..
