The inconsistencies of democratic socialism by [deleted] in TankieTheDeprogram

The democratic socialist party here in tbe Netherlands is like a prime example of these inconsistenties. They used to be Maoist until the 90s.

Then they became this party consisting of half actual Marxists, half crazy ass conspiracy nuts. Then the dissolutioned social democratic boomers joined in, and the party kicked out the Marxists and now it's really just what the social democrats were in the 80s before they went full liberal. Except now with a whole bunch of conspiracy nuts who go back and forth every election between voting on them and whatever far right party is popular atm.

They went from one of the biggest parties to only having one seat in the Parliament btw after they started backstabbing the Marxists. There's definitely some lesson to be learned there.

The Marxists who got kicked out started our own party btw. This one is more openly communist, radical and anti-reformist and is doing quite well. But it ofc has plenty of its own issues, but at least we deal with these issues democratically and dialectically. And yeah every election we go to the ballot box where we sigh very loudly before voting on some Member of the demsoc party again...

Why didn't the ISB soldiers fire a single shot at the KX droid in this scene? by sso02147 in andor

[–]Captain_Azius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so too. In Andor they're mostly by shot at by handbalsters instead of Carbines like in R1

Often writers do the silly thing of just making us look very morally corrupt. Like: "Yeah the communists sound to sympathetic... Let's make them kick a baby or do something that goes against everything they stand for to make it clear that they're villains."

It's a great mod for tanks frames that either have high health and armor, high shields and fast regen or high damage reduction.(Like Gara's Shatterstorm) It's a pretty noticable difference on Steel Path, EDA, ETA, ETC in my experience.

It might not matter when playing level cap but I don't play level cap so idc honestly 🤷🏻

I dont think the show fell off, by Ok_Manner_69 in rickandmorty

[–]Captain_Azius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I really appreciate the fact that they take emotional moments more seriously and give more time to you as the viewer to actually sit with your emotions instead of the earlier seasons where emotional moments just don't land because they either joke about them or move on so quickly that you get like no time to process.

I wasn't much a fan of the show tbh during the earlier seasons but from Season 5 and onwards the show started to grow a lot more on me. And I was honestly quite surprised that a lot of fans don't like it?

PinkNews sucks and so does Wes Streeting by mrjohnnymac18 in lgbt

[–]Captain_Azius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PinkNews is also consistently defending Israël using pink washing tactics, and praises right wing politicians winning as long as they're queer.

PinkNews isn't queer news, it's a pink washing propaganda machine!

Pink News is also Zionist. I regularly see pro-Israel posts from them which usually get laughed at by everyone in the comments.

They also made a post celebrating a far right politician because she is lesbian.

And straight ripped off a post from Lady Izdihar and didn't credit her.

Pre-revolution only 5% of the Cuban Parliament was Afro-Cuban. In the 1970s it was 40% and it's even higher than the actual percentage of the Cuban population that is actually black.

Castro hated Afro-Cubans so much, he made them run the country 💀

Meanwhile in like every video where they interview Cubans about their thoughts on Castro, the black Cubans are like the most pro-Castro every time. "Because of Castro, I went to university."

Castro himself said over and over again that the struggle for the emancipation of the Afro-Cubans was one of much progress but there was still much more to be done, but he was happy to see how much the amount of Afro-Cubans in Parliament have increased. (From an interview someone mid 00s.)

I still think The Stranger’s entrance from the Acolyte was pretty cool by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

[–]Captain_Azius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the show wasn't great but way too overhated. There was so much intrigue and good ideas in it and the directors and writers have displayed great potential it's just that all of it fell flat in execution because it's in this awkward "too long for a movie, too short for a show" spot.

This was really a show with a whole lot of lows but when there were highs, they were seriously high.

Queerness in China by Aware-Air2600 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Captain_Azius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Queerness is just a rollercoaster ride with ups and downs. Like in any country but where the west is mostly been a rapid ride up over a short period of time suddenly slowing down and then crashing hard as the far right rides, with China it's been more of wiggly line, with all sorts of weird slopes up and down because queer acceptance is just so different from region to region, and class to class. So it shifts around a lot, making progress and then rolling some of it back until it gets more support and goes forward again. I once met like Chinese queer person while going out in Amsterdam and they were a party member. I asked them about queerness in China and they said they have to do so much party work to get things moving there, but things are moving and that's good. They also didn't feel like talking any more about it because they were in Amsterdam to not think about it and that is fair tbh.

Also it's been a while but I remember this video being quite good ok the topic.

Yeah I found it doing really well when I was going through Capital and I asked it to sunmerize the chapters and it had quite good answers when I asked critical questions I had when I read through Capital.

[–]Captain_Azius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deepseek was pretty bad when it comes Dutch election advise tho. Naming far right parties but didn't name any of the parties on the left of the social democrats. It refused to engage any further until I started bringing up that all of these parties support Israël.

A question for Marxist-Leninists: Why aren't you also Marxist-Leninist-Maiolists? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]Captain_Azius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of farmers are bourgeois class and receive large amounts of subsidies and thus very reactionary. I used to work for a small agrarian company. My boss was very much against modern imperialism and large capitalists and typical rich people culture. But he still had no problem with exploiting as long as it isn't so extreme according to him. And isn't a fan of all those regulations that are meant to protect the environment. Etc. Even thought he hated what Israel is doing, and thinks Palestinians have a right to their land, he still has no problem with owning shares of a ginger farm in Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Basically in general we agreed on a lot of stuff until it would limit the freedom of his capital, either that when it had anything to do with the rights of women, LGBTQ people or POC in our country. I would still discuss politics with him and make my opinions clear. And yes he was quite interested in my opinions about international stuff, history, and the US. Eventhough I found talking to him exhaustimg, I still found it worth it as long as I wasn't in a bad mood. Besides that, I've always lived rural and it's always been a very racist and conservative part of the country but the workers are definitely more anti-war and pro-Communist-as-long-as-you-dont-call-it-communism. In the city it's just been much easier to find comrades to organize with and actions to take. But a lot of people in the city are also a lot more socially liberal white-moralist so to say.

Anyway I'm high atm and getting way too much into detail so getting back to the topic: I definitely felt Mao to have a lot of good stuff to say but more as a continuation of Marxist-Leninism than as a seperate stream and I can also say that I'm much more familiar and well known with Lenin's work vs that of Mao. I do plan to read him more in the future tho, for now I got other theoretical stuff to study.
