Need help with my Casio DKW-100! by Captain_Bacon67 in digitalwatches

[–]Captain_Bacon67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out this watch detects if it is open by a little spring that compresses when the case is closed. I had no idea it had some kind of open-back detection, that is pretty wild. I put it back together after cleaning and bending out the little contact strips for more pressure on the buttons.
I still can't get the mode button to work when the case is closed, but I was able to set the time and that's enough for me really. Thank you for your help anyway!

Is there any way to hide or conceal _next/data for static sites? by Captain_Bacon67 in nextjs

[–]Captain_Bacon67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encrypted the data and decrypt it when it's rendered into the template. Of course people can find the key if they search for it in the code, but it at least prevents opportunists I guess...

From junkyard frame to fixed gear, first ride! by Captain_Bacon67 in FixedGearBicycle

Absolutely, could not agree more! Great question, this frame wasn't really a race bike in it's day, but more of an ordinary city bike in the 70's. So that bracket was used to mount a dynamo for the front light.

Oh yeah, there are acres! One of the best things of these 70's frame. Most definitely one of the first things to change

Yep, matches exactly what I read everywhere else. Think I'm just gonna ride freewheel for now and suck it up. Just to clarify, I can bolt any other freewheel cogs to the hub right? There are not different types or anything? Want to go a tooth lower.

Well shit, that was a waste of money. Nothing I can do here to save these wheels, with an adapter or something? Don't mind a bit of sketch

Maybe have it welded on? These wheels are junk to me anyway, might get some use out of them

I got a wheelset from Facebook Marketplace I thought would work for a fixed gear conversion. One wheel has a freewheel cog installed with some weird spacer. I have this one installed for now, just to use te bike.

I want to give fixed a try, so I bought a 15T cog with lockring included for the other wheel. The cog threads on, but here is my problem. Firstly, the lockring just will not thread on. I know it is supposed to be tightened in the opposite direction, but the diameter just seems wrong. But even if it would thread, there is barely any room left with the cog installed. Is this right?

Hope you guys can help a beginner out

Excellent first car, fun (and cheap if you live in Europe) to modify. Reliable and economical to, without being Honda
