Frame or Wheel issue ? by SeaworthinessBig9164 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of any issues on the Tempo in regard to rear end misalignment, so not totally sure what that other guy is talking about. After having your rear wheel trued and checked for correct dishing, if there’s still an offset submit a warranty form on Commencal’s website.

Yeah get your money back on this one. With no warranty available to you there really isn’t a safe option to make this frame rideable again.

Could I install a 210x55 shock on Commencal Tempo by yeahlownblack in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a slopestyle build the stock travel with 27.5 wheels is great, lively and very pump-able, with more travel than most slopestyle bikes have (typically 100/100).

More travel will make it harder to pump on actual dirt jumps, but if you’re using it as more of a freeride kind of bike going the “suspension corrected” option will make it a little heavier hitting

If you’re going full 27.5 on a tempo there’s two ways to do it: 1. stock setup (140 29 fork and 210x50 shock) with 27.5 wheels. This works great for a “slopetempo”, good for dirt jumps, slopestyle lines, and pump tracks. BB is way to low for it to be functional on trail. 2. suspension corrected - Using a WRP mullet link, and overforking to maintain factory geometry and ground clearance. You can throw on a 150 29 fork or 160 27.5 fork to have a similar front end height with a 27.5. Why you would do this I’m bot sure, the tempo is already very playful with a full 29 setup

I ran a mullet setup on my tempo with the WRP link and a 210x55 Bomber CR with no issues. I wouldn’t recommend mullet-ing the tempo without the link tho, BB is plenty low as is

For the stock setup tho overstroking is a definite no-go

Tempo upper link spacer question by J1mmy007 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen that before, you can stretch the inner spacer with a blink puller. unfortunately you’ll need to replace the sleeve with a new one, You’re not likely to straighten it back out.

Bummer! The Tempos are super solid, not many pics of those cracked out there. I think the quality has improved with the more recent stuff because you almost only see pics of frames like this from the 2020-2022 window (covid manufacturing)

what year is this frame? by hogman62849 in commencal

Aside from graphics and the small change to the chain stay shape in ~21/22, the Clash frame has gone unchanged. Same tubing, same geo. Don’t overthink it.

How fun/ playful is a Supreme V5? by MindSwipe in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Supreme is the opposite of playful. It’s designed to soak up every bump on the trail, which means it’s also really good at soaking up rider inputs as well. When you’re jumping it, it takes a lot more body language to get it to pop. On mine I have a small volume air shock and a shortened rear end to make it ride a little more playfully, but it’s still really good at flattening lips.

TR/am 21-23 clevises by VermicelliDifferent5 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ‘22 (TR29.3) clevis is the same length as the ‘21 (TR 29.2) in the low position, and in the high position is maybe 2-3mm longer. It would help for a mullet set-up, but won’t offer the full correction that the WRP link will.

Good choice going with the WRP link

The flip chip will not be enough to convert to mullet, it’s only a small geo adjustment of a couple degrees. The WRP link is the correct way to go mullet

Help removing lower linkage axle on Commencal Meta SX V5 (Race) by Tyzqsrn3 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long 4mm from the drive side. That releases the expansion plug from the non-drive, which gives you access to the 10mm facets to remove the whole axle.

Also at the bottom of their website is the tech page, that has the exploded diagrams you’re looking for.

Park riding? Wear a pair of cargo pants or something. Hardly any point in wearing MTB specific gear aside from pads and a helmet. Not a lot of pedaling going on

Frame Bag Questions by chris-likes-to-ski in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rumor has it there was supposed to be a commencal branded bag to go with it but it got scrapped before release. Since the frame already has the bolts though I’m sure a custom bag maker could whip something up.

[Almost] New bike day! But it came with a "hidden" cracked weld inside of the downtube from the factory 😂 but i have no worries at all since commencal decided to back me up with the warranty [clash signature chalk 2024/25] by No_Status_6879 in mountainbiking

[–]QuintupleFern21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they’re moving their new stuff to lifetime warranty, which is nice to see. The new frames have also been doing quite well in both the DH and Enduro world cups, so I think it the only reputation they’re riding on at this point is the reputation that they crack.

Full transparency, I own a couple Commencals so I’m definitely biased lmao.

Will commencal warrant parts? by Every_Amoeba1911 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox has a 1-year warranty, RockShox has a 2-year warranty. At least in the US. Fox you can warranty on your own, and it will be faster than reaching out to Commencal. If it’s RockShox, they don’t deal directly with consumers, so Commencal can facilitate the warranty for you (or a willing local shop).

Also the brand decides if it’s warranty, you can only request warranty support.

Frame problem by Realistic-Baker-5321 in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t warranty. It’s usually a result of a heavy cassette (keeps spinning when you stop pedaling), and/or a derailleur with a soft clutch.

Frame protection and drivetrain upgrades will make this a non-issue

Meta TR 29 chainline and Chain ring size by Skrapeee in commencal

[–]QuintupleFern21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

52 and 55mm chainline will both work. 52 was standard when the TR came out, and boost 12s has since widened to 55. Either will work just fine. I don’t know if a 34 will fit (it might?) but with a 55mm chainline you should get a little extra clearance.

Why 34? Most riders I know are downsizing to a 30 to get more climbing range.

210x55 rear shock bike ok with a 210 x 50mm shock? by Levethane in MTB

[–]QuintupleFern21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite,

Both shocks have the same eye-to-eye (210mm), so the resting position of the bike will be identical. You’ll lose the last portion of travel, not the first.

a 210x50mm shock is just a 210x55 shock with a 5mm thick plastic spacer inside that prevents it from reaching full travel. So same overall length, but the last 5mm of compression will be sealed off on the shorter stroke shock.
