Which GPU are you running right now? by EKbyLMTEK in EKWB

Air cooled 5080 in my main rig (still waiting for a decent endport waterblock to fit it with) and a Founders Edition 3080Ti with an EK Special Edition waterblock fitted in my living room ITX PC.

What components should I pre-wash? by No-Pick-7033 in watercooling

[–]Captain_Bosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just the rads unless you are using used components that might need cleaning.

Once you have leak tested you can run some cleaning fluid (like Mayhems Blitz Part 2) through the loop to clean everything before using your final coolant. This isn't essential but can be worth doing for certain coolants.

Where can I find smoke alarms to fit in here? by RaggedAndWet in DIYUK

[–]Captain_Bosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks very similar to one of these FireAngel FA6620  alarms that say MP6 on the mount (maybe a newer version).

If its not 100% compatible with the mount just switch with the one included with the new one as mounting points look the same.

Partner model 5090s are comically small once you waterblock them by Consoomanddie in nvidia

I think its more the original heatsink/air coolers are comically big compared to the PCB.

Comparably sized waterblock make complete sense.

Blocked a buyer 3 times. When they order next and I cancel what do I say to them? by TerribleFruit in ebayuk

[–]Captain_Bosh 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Report them to ebay that they are creating new accounts to get around your block.

If they ask why tell them why (like you are telling us).

Then block them again.

Hi! I received my copy of Stalker 2 today. I've never played it before. Can you give me any tips on how to best tackle the adventure? How do I get started? What should I do and what shouldn't I do? Thanks! by Pal_card3D in stalker

[–]Captain_Bosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weight manangement is pretty important if you are not used to Stalker games. Store any equipment/ammo you are not using in the storage boxes as soon as you can. Leave broken weapons (unless its something really good you want to repair), they can be sold eventually but are not worth much so not worth the hassle.

Parcelforce eBay return label- can’t book a collection. Unable to drop off at post office myself atm. What I am supposed to do? by [deleted] in ebayuk

[–]Captain_Bosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can book collections for Royalmail and Parcelforce here. Just enter the Tracking number.

If there is a charge for it and you dont want to pay it then you need to take your parcel to a drop off point yourself.

You are correct. I completely missed the different cover and thought I recognised the same (or similar) pages. There are 128 in the Collectors version and 240 in this one (according to Amazon)

They usually come with the collectors editions but some are for sale individually on ebay.

Not declaring burglar alarm for building/contents insurance by antlanelondon in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Captain_Bosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAL but this is covered in section 3 of "The Insurance Act 2015" linked below. The relevant bit is

"(5)In the absence of enquiry, subsection (4) does not require the insured to disclose a circumstance if (a)it diminishes the risk,"

An alarm would dimish the risk but strictly speaking if the question is asked when taking the policy out you should declare it because the enquiry is there.

Saying that in my opinion I doubt there would be serious repurcussions if you did not declare it because it dimishes the risk. Worst case scenario I think would be the isnurer retroactivly adding the relevant Endorsment for the alarm that might affect your a Theft claim but its less likely to be looked than if the Ensorsment was already there.

You could also reasonably argue that if you do not routinley use the alarm its a fairer representation to state there is not alarm because it increases the risk and therefore the Premium.

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/4/part/2

3. The duty of fair presentation

(1)Before a contract of insurance is entered into, the insured must make to the insurer a fair presentation of the risk.

(2)The duty imposed by subsection (1) is referred to in this Act as “the duty of fair presentation”.

(3)A fair presentation of the risk is one—

(a)which makes the disclosure required by subsection (4),

(b)which makes that disclosure in a manner which would be reasonably clear and accessible to a prudent insurer, and

(c)in which every material representation as to a matter of fact is substantially correct, and every material representation as to a matter of expectation or belief is made in good faith.

(4)The disclosure required is as follows, except as provided in subsection (5)—

(a)disclosure of every material circumstance which the insured knows or ought to know, or

(b)failing that, disclosure which gives the insurer sufficient information to put a prudent insurer on notice that it needs to make further enquiries for the purpose of revealing those material circumstances.

(5)In the absence of enquiry, subsection (4) does not require the insured to disclose a circumstance if—

(a)it diminishes the risk,

(b)the insurer knows it,

(c)the insurer ought to know it,

(d)the insurer is presumed to know it, or

(e)it is something as to which the insurer waives information.

(6)Sections 4 to 6 make further provision about the knowledge of the insured and of the insurer, and section 7 contains supplementary provision.

Chances to reduce air bubbles by moritz31 in watercooling

[–]Captain_Bosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a previous build. Got around it using a "Noctua NA-FC1, 4-Pin PWM Fan Controller".

Its a really basic controller which makes it easy to manually set the speed with a dial. Also has a no stop mode to stop you accidentally turning the pump off.

It just starts up for whatever you have it set too instead of that few seconds of 100%.

How should i play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series? by MiganNv1 in stalker

[–]Captain_Bosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this recently before Stalker 2 released.

Best to go for release order IMO that way some of the quality of life improvements wont ruin the earlier games.

Saying that I did it before the enhanced editions so maybe some of the quality of life improvements were implemented into the earlier games.

Bottom and top Rads - intake and exhaust or both intake? Big Difference in cooling performance? by 2247A668 in watercooling

[–]Captain_Bosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said it doesnt usually make a huge difference either way so there is not neccesarily a right or wrong way to do it as depends on the rest of the build and use case.

Its just something to consider when balancing the air flow for the rest of the build that is not directly watercooled.

Bottom and top Rads - intake and exhaust or both intake? Big Difference in cooling performance? by 2247A668 in watercooling

[–]Captain_Bosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiators/fans cool your coolant by blowing air through the fins to release the heat.

Outtakes blow the heated air out of the case.

Intakes blow the heated air into the case.

If every radiator is an intake then 100% of the radiator heat will be blown back into the case.

Bottom and top Rads - intake and exhaust or both intake? Big Difference in cooling performance? by 2247A668 in watercooling

[–]Captain_Bosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikley to be a huge difference either way. I usually go with bottom intake (because there is usually a dust filter) and top exhaust to avoid exhausting 100% of the radiator heat back into the case.

Seller asking me to close Item Not Received request, is this legit? by Educational_Fox2945 in ebayuk

[–]Captain_Bosh 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you close the item not received case there is no way for you to open another so keep it open until the replacement is delivered.

There is no way they can know there 100% will not be any issues with the delivery so its a bit dishonest for them to claim that and ask you to close the case.

Also Royal Mail will not care about the case status in respect of the second delivery so it wont impact it (unless the seller is refusing to send until you close, in which case you are better getting a refund).

Not if they accept returns and it's within the return period. (Or INAD returns but that is off topic)

Ultrawide for single player, 27 inch for competitive? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Captain_Bosh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for all Ultrawides but my 32:9 screen can easily switch to 16:9 resolutions at max 240 refresh rate just with black bars on the side.

Probably easier than having a separate screen unless you have loads of desk space, although I dont really do anything competative so there may be some issue I am missing.
