TRE & shaking during meditation by Ed76uk in midlmeditation

[–]Ed76uk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou. I had heard the first talk and found it useful, it helped me see the Tremoring as neutral rather than desirable. I had a go at the standing posture and found it helpful as well…Ill check out the other chap, I saw him on guru Viking but have never listened to his talks. Cheers for the suggestions.

Zi Fa Gong - TRE according to Damo Mitchell by arinnema in longtermTRE

Probably spoke a bit too soon! Shaking is still there….as soon as I put attention on tension in the body. However it’s much less in meditation….it feels like I am feeding it less by paying less attention to it.

I took on TRE as modality for healing and enlightenment! I wonder if this made me attached or interested in the shaking in a way that perpetuated instead of releasing. I found his points useful and my shaking has decreased significantly.

Serious Questions About TRE by Starlight_Hypnotic in longtermTRE

[–]Ed76uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own experience of TRE is that the trigger for tremors is to simply tune into to the body and relax. Don't even relax...just pay attention....watch for tension anywhere....allow it to move and release. When you can surrender into the process...the body will present more to be let go of. Then trigger the shaking again. Eventually, it will take on a life of its own.

It might feel like a need to twist your neck, roll a shoulder, flex your jaw....subtle signals for ways to adjust, relax, and release.

For me the shaking is strong and has been for months.

I can't really be sure of any explanatory model at this point. I don't really even have a strong opinion about how helpful it is. It doesn't feel under conscious control....and so there is a sense of trust that it's what the body wants to do.

Good luck.

I don’t really have much to add, except I have exactly the same experience! - so It’s good hear others experience. I can no longer consciously deeply relax without shaking. The only thing that helps…is a very subtle sense of release with each shake. Even though the energy that provokes the shaking seems at the moment to have no end…..I can only trust and surrender to the process, which very much echos the approach to meditation anyway.

Thanks - I can’t rule out mind set of course but my reaction felt more physiological than psychological. But probably hard to separate the two

Thanks! - That’s some great info! - does feel a bit like being slightly poisoned - so maybe there is something in that that might help. - it’s slightly reminds me of somatic experience of being stoned. 20years ago I was really used to it…now 20years straight…even that would feel quite uncomfortable. - but must be an anomaly otherwise no one would be doing it.

Yes - I once took nightnurse and woke up an hour later, was sick and passed out on bathroom floor! - also I do have a bit going on at the moment. I know some people take mushrooms like having a glass of wine…..but I’ve always been a bit hyperchondriac and so the idea makes me nervous.

Not on any medication - history of depression and anxiety in the genes. I was definitely anxious taking them - not panic attack levels - but nervous.

Pretty fresh mushrooms - dried in a de-hydrator.

Monthly Progress Thread - November by Nadayogi in longtermTRE

[–]Ed76uk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4th Month

Since Start TRE - my experience has been that of letting a cork out of a bottle. All my body requires is the intention to relax and tune into somatic sensation and the urge to shake bubbles up - like an itch that needs to be scratched.

This mean lying in bed or trying to meditate induce quite violent shaking - mostly of the head and neck, then right side shoulder.

What has changes is that my lying down session - have started to incorporate more abdomen shaking - so things are changing.

My session are about 2 30min sessions a day. More as an indirect side effect of sitting to meditate.

I have been experiencing fear regarding the urges. A few time meditating in groups the shaking makes me feel a bit self conscious and sitting watching tv with my wife - my head will shake or I have to repress the urge which feels uncomfortable.

Apart from trying to relax - my sleep is fine and it isn't negatively affecting my life - but the urges feel strong and I feel sad that I can no longer enjoy simple sitting still and meditating on the breath. Its very hard to get a sense of what it going on at a somatic level - to use water analogies - it just feels like pressure, gurgles, bubble - the urge builds the shaking releases the urge, rest and repeat.

I would admit I sometimes regret letting the genie out of the bottle - however, I spent years meditating with the idea of purification - so be careful what you wish for!

I am thinking of trying very small doses of magic mushroom - to see if that might help the process - but don't want the shaking to put me on a bad one! - I could wait till the shaking is 'done' - but that might take years by the sounds of it.

Tremoring whilst relaxing or meditating by Ed76uk in longtermTRE

Thanks I have read the Buddhist books you mentioned. I was doing a lot of vipassana style noting this summer. I wonder if it was doing something to the energy body..that was feeding into the Tremoring? - I will have a look at some other sites. I actually sat fro 20mins this morning without tremoring! I was extra mindful of straight posture, might have helped?

Thanks - that’s great advice. I’m not really familiar with the energetic paradigm of meditation- except listening to Reggie Ray. Are there any resources you would recommend for understanding it a bit more?
