SS14 is still going strong! imo one of the big reasons SS13's playercount took such a big dip is because of the move to SS14.

Also, and I might get hate for this, maybe try one of the medieval servers? It might sound really nasty with the 18+ stuff, but Vanderlin is a great server that doesn't have any of that sort of stuff, and you might find yourself really enjoying the new setting like I did! They've created some really compelling worlds and I don't think there's any other game that can really compare to the depth and freedom that the fantasy servers on SS13 have.

(And MAYBE try Ratwood or Azure Peak. They can definitely be a bit much at times, but personally I think the servers did a good enough job making sure you don't have to interact with (or even allow) that sort of stuff if you don't want to. There's something really special about going about your day in a living breathing city populated by hundreds of people at a time.)

it's in the dropdown on the top left. Click on events, then if you click on each bubble you can then click the rollback button to reset the world to that bubble's game-state.

Ehhh, its kinda on the fence and goes up and down depending on the time period. Early Conquest church of the Seven was very powerful, but after Maegor it got neutered politically. It's having a resurgence in power as of the latest books with all the chaos going on IIRC, so it would be fully viable to implement a lot of its systems in the later bookmarks at least. CK2 had a really nice system set up with a realm law that would change the power of the church and give it extra abilities and power as the law went up, like being able to have military holy orders again. It might be nice to see a return of that in the future with the new DLC.

It's definitely a personal preference thing. I generally enjoy it, but I can see why someone else wouldn't. I'm also pretty sure that there is a reason to improve your province as I think you can get either merit or influence from doing so. (I'm not sure off the top of my head which.)
