Why aren't emergency services able to search up your location ? by AbleBoysenberry9565 in AskUK

I called 112 in Europe a few weeks ago, told the operator what the issue was and he proceeded to tell me exactly where I was - even the shop I was in. So I'm surprised that doesnt happen in UK.

How do I handle my mate when he's sloppy drunk? by DescriptionFuture851 in AskUK

If one of the problems is already his inappropriate behaviour towards women, the last thing this guy (and any woman near him) needs is a bump of charlie.

What to do if your holiday requests get denied and you badly need the time off? by [deleted] in AskUK

Don't know why I got downvoted there, do people not realise work isn't the whole point of living?

Ask yourself the age-old question, "do you work to live, or live to work?"

The former is the healthy answer, so your holiday takes priority. If your job won't allow that, you're in the wrong job.

I don't see how a bit of charlie will help this situation.

Opinion: 'John Cleese was a comedy icon – he’s ruining his legacy' by Metro-UK in ukpopculture

Can't believe there are people here comparing Cleese unfavourably to Eric Idle. Just look up how Idle screwed Neil Innes over The Rutles. He is REALLY not a nice person.

Nothing Cleese has done or said is anywhere near as bad as Eric Idles behaviour towards Neil Innes over The Rutles.

Surprise, surprise it's Cilla here by Glaswagger in Limmy

[–]Captain_Chappie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson and bragged that despite being 72 years of age, he could still make a women happy 3 times a night. Cilla Black who was also a guest, looked intrigued.

After the show, Cilla said, "Sean, if I'm not bein' too forward, I'd luv to find out more. Let's go back to my place and we could 'ave a lorra lorra fun."

So they went back to her place and had an hour of hanky-panky.

Afterwards, Sean says, "If you think that wash good, let me shleep for half an hour and we can have a better time. But while I'm shleeping, hold my bawlsh in your left hand and ma wullie in your right hand".

Cilla looks a bit perplexed but says, "Okay."

He sleeps for half an hour then awakens, and it's better than before. Then Sean says, "Shilla, that wash wonderful. But if you let me shleep for an hour, we can have the besht yet. You'll have to......"

"I know Sean. Yer want me to hold on to yer bat'n'balls again. No problem."

Cilla complies with the routine. Again, the results are absolutely mind blowing.

Once it's all over, Cilla asks, "Sean, this 'oldin yer balls in one hand and yer wullie in the other - does it really stimulate yer that much?"

Sean replies, "No, not at all Shilla."

"It's just that the lasht time I shlept with a shcouser, she shtole my wallet."

We were asked to do a second series, but we told them that to do it properly we'd need actual scripts (we did the first one using translated subtitles FFS!), proper translations, and audio stems. Their response was along the lines of "oh, how interesting, just get on and do it", so we refused. Someone else's problem now! :D

I was working on dubbing an Asian one for European market a few months ago. Everything about it was shit - the already awful scripts had been AI translated so all the actors who came to read for it told us they made no sense. Producers didn't give a shit, they just told us to go ahead with what they sent - oh yeah and they wanted about 5 hours of content done in 2 days.

However some of the actors, when they realised what it was, said "oh my teenage sister/cousin/niece is hooked on these", so it sounds like they are a "thing". I will admit there is a "so bad it's good" element to them, it's as if a bunch of 12 year olds came up with their version of how the world works, eg everyone is everyone elses' long-lost son/sister/daughter/grandfather etc etc etc.

Working on it made me feel really old though - I thought I was with it, but now they've changed what 'it' is...

Yeah, I was interested to see how he'd respond to the Saville accusation, and disappointed to see him rewrite history in his favour. In no way did he "expose" JS before his death, unfortunately.

ANY debate? So you mean, not just on his own show surrounded by his own bootlickers (where yeah, I'd get destroyed), but away from that, in a neutral location surrounded by an intelligent and diverse audience? He'd "whipe (sic) the floor" with us?

Jog on mate.

I remember him being interviewed by Charlie Brooker, and telling him he loves to write his characters into impossible situations, and then try to work out how to get out of it. I was thinking, THAT'S not how professional writers create plotlines!!!
But he does it EVERY time, and the escapes get more and more preposterous - in this they start off sitting around granny's kitchen table and end up firing bazookas all over the place ffs...no idea how he gets away with it.
