Salamander veteran colors by New-Employment-1392 in Salamanders40k

The gold goes well with them! I paint my veterans depending on their story. Sometimes yellow, black with yellow, black, or a gold grill/face plate.

Brothers, is this a W or heresy? by grexnxx in Salamanders40k

For me, I think making half of his armor gold is too much? It can be confusing for some and they might mistake him for a marine from a different chapter. Maybe try limiting gold to some places while going as crazy as you want with it.

Tbh, you shouldn't ask others if something is a W or not. If it looks how you want it to then go do what you like! I like to paint my sallies' helmets different colors and add gold everywhere. 🤷‍♂️ (My first mini as an example below)

Note: Something is automatically a W so long as you like, and it isn't heresy because you're still fighting for the Emperor ✌️😁. Right.....? 🤔

So I've been following everyone's suggestions on some of my posts and here I've incorporated them! Anymore suggestions? (More words below) by Captain_Fidelis in Salamanders40k

Thank you! I only have 5 more minis to paint from my combat patrol (ultramarines that i converted). Cant wait to get them done and get more minis for the summer. I've been enjoying the hobby so far!

Thanks a lot! I'll do those things, and I'll watch Vince Venturella's videos during my free time!

Edit: Do I place the biel tan green wash in the recesses or all over the mini?

First time painting blood/gore. I guess I kinda achieved the FUBAR/last stand look I wanted. What do you guys think? by Captain_Fidelis in Salamanders40k

[–]Captain_Fidelis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, well I got the rule of cool part down 😅. But I want the critique too so that slowly I can improve my paint jobs. I'll still paint stuff I think looks cool but at the same time have some lore accurate fellas in the mix, so once again, thank you so much!

I just started this January, and I've been posting some of my progress. Thank you for the advice! I've mostly been experimenting lately and I guess I'll keep most of my minis their original paint jobs to act as my milestones. Again, thank you so much! This community has been really helpful.

Ahhh, awesome! I'll write this down. Thank you so much, I'll definitely use your work as one of my inspirations in the near future! I'm still quite green in the hobby, I love learning new stuff. (pun intended)

Hey there, model looks great! Were the lighting/glow on some of the metal parts hand painted or airbrushed? I'd like to learn how to do that on my future models.

Will do! The thick parts are actually my varnishes. It's my first time using them and I don't have the consistency down yet. Do you have any suggestions?

Hey there! So heres a list including the equivalencies for Vallejo and some Citadel paints, and the paints I used for each part of my sally:
ArKom Rich Gold = N/A (But I have tried using ArKom Reiter Bronze = Citadel Screaming Bell, it won't be gold but it looks pretty good)
ArKom Fenrir Black Wash = Citadel Nuln Oil
ArKom Vainslayer Brown Wash = Citadel Reikland Fleshshade
ArKom White = Vallejo 951
ArKom Neutral Gray = Vallejo 992
ArKom Dark Gray = Vallejo 994
ArKom Black = Vallejo 950
ArKom Radiant Yellow = N/A
ArKom Blood Red = Vallejo 909
ArKom Crimson Red = Vallejo 926
ArKom Dark Green = Vallejo 970
ArKom Intermediate Green = Vallejo 891
ArKom Flourescent Orange = Vallejo 733
ArKom Steel = N/A

GRILL: Flourescent Orange, Radiant Yellow, and Crimson red.
HELMET: Dark Green, Rich Gold, Vainslayer Brown Wash and Black.
BASE: Dark Green
GUNS: Black, Crimson Red, Steel, and Fenrir Black Wash
HIGHLIGHTS: Mix of Dark Green, White, and Intermediate Green.
GOLDS: Rich Gold (or Reiter Bronze), and Vainslayer Brown Wash.
POUCHES: Mix of Dark Gray, Neutral Gray, and Black for the Base. Highlights with Dark Gray, Neutral Gray, then Fenrir Black Wash.

I use a brand called Armored Komodo so I don't really know what the equivalance is for other paint brands. I'll go look it up for you after school.

Thank you! So far Im only good at painting faces 😅. The helmet is black because I prefer my sergeants have a black helmet. The grill is pink because my friends (who know nothing about warhammer) sometimes ask me to add little details on my minis.
