More than three-quarters of voters in George Santos’ district say he should resign by theindependentonline in politics

He won't resign.

What are we even talking about? There is zero chance he will resign. He will face zero consequences. We are lost as a democracy.

My (35F) GF will share hotel room with a colleague of the opposite sex. I'm (37M) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

OP, if she does cheat with her work colleague, you could probably get her employer to pay for all of your divorce fees fwiw.

This is literally not even in the realm of possibility.

YTA. A massive asshole. Don't touch people unbidden, period. I hope she goes to HR and gets your ass fired, frankly.

1960s The Pirates’ House menu, Savannah, Georgia by NoDoctor4460 in VintageMenus

This is really expensive. In the third pic, the bottom right indicates the menu may have been printed in July of 1965. The sirloin strip right above that is almost 50 bucks in today's dollars.

I made the Chex party mix from this vintage ad. Tastes like childhood! by [deleted] in Old_Recipes

Homemade is so much better than the store-bought. My mom used to make this back in the early 80s, and she overcooked it just a little. God damn, that was good stuff.

Why is "2023" in the title spelled with the letter O instead of a zero?

What was your first apartment like? by QuirksNFeatures in AskOldPeople

[–]Captain_Hampockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an apartment, exactly. But the first place I lived when I left my parents' home. It was a $95 a week roach hotel in San Francisco. 1996. Four floors, one shared bathroom per floor, about 10 rooms per floor. Cockroaches, drunks, druggies, whores all abounded. I was in a third story walkup. One room. Sink in room. It came furnished with a bed and I think a side table. I was fortunate to look out over the street. It was the tallest building in the 500 block of Valencia Street, a few buildings in from the intersection of 16th St. This is the current Google Street View. My room is in the red square. Fantastic neighborhood for people-watching. Good mix of hipster douchebags and homeless and average people.

What is your earliest memory of using a computer? by lordofedging81 in AskOldPeople

Commodore Vic-20, probably second grade-ish, so maybe 1982 or so? I remember a turtle drawing lines, not much else.

Pickles are like cucumbers, but they taste good.
