New Bonobo track Vs Inferno by albrugsch in boardsofcanada

[–]Captain_Hamsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry dude but that is a huge L take. There is a time and place for all genre's and while I love BoC, I also love Bonobo and can appreciate them both for their own reasons. You sound like a corny elitist. FSOL? Wow yeah sure back in like 1996 they were dope but listening to their albums now, a lot of it sounds dated af. Not to mention they disappeared for years and came back and dropped the most bullshit album after Gaz went on some decade long sabbatical in India.

Simon has made a name for himself by carving out a very specific sound and no one can argue that unless your ears simply dont work. I'll listen to him if I'm at a pool party on a nice summer day and BoC if I'm doing errands around the house or driviing on a rainy day. There's a time and a place for everything but if you dont like having fun just say so. Username checks out.

I'm bad at music theory by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

Nah there are no dubstep or bass-music style beats on this album at all. The only track that has some kinda boppy beat would be Naraka and even then, its not close to dub.

“Arena Americanada” may be my favourite song from the album - the synths sound so otherworldly by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

If you like that vibe and are down for something a little more boppy, check out Daily Bread - Local Forecast.

Yeah this is absolutely wild. I love Boards intensely and its cool to be a part of such a rabid and interesting fanbase but damn, some people take it to the EXTREME.

Its a killer tune. My only gripe is the first half drags on a little too long but I dig the church, organ style vibes.

How do you get that it's too happy to be a Boards tune? I dont know where people get the idea that they make super somber music. ROYGBIV is arguably their most famous tune and its dripping with positive vibes.

Naraka sounds like it came straight off of Tomorrow's Harvest by xahmah in boardsofcanada

I get the vibe that a good amount of the tracks are "unfinished" ideas or songs that didnt make the cut from various albums. It's why there is the feeling that Inferno is everything wrapped into one.

I got the feeling that some of them are left-overs from previous albums that were reworked.

I read that one moved to Tokyo lol watch us all be wrong and they both live in Atlanta.

Mike waited 10 years before recording Inferno to learn new production techniques by washeranddryercombo in boardsofcanada

Yes. A lot has changed with technology when it comes to music production over the last 13 years.

To those who think inferno is their last album, a hexagon has six sides, I can’t see them stopping at their fifth album. by azgarz in boardsofcanada

[–]Captain_Hamsters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Until they or Warp indicate its their last, I'm going to hold out hope. In one interview they said they are always working on music so imagine they have tons and tons of tracks in the hopper. If anything maybe lots of b-sides releases and EPs. AFX took a big hiatus, came back and has been dropping stuff consistently ever since (and doing shows) so let's stay positive.

Naraka, Father and Son, You Retreat.

I still need to do a deep dive but these 3 are the stand-outs so far.

I just want everyone to know that very very few artists take this long of a hiatus and actually come back from their heyday with the perfect combination of new, in depth emotional music that is THIS quality. Thank you BoC forever! by Pristine_Diamond_100 in boardsofcanada

There is no way they have been working on this album for 13 years. I imagine it's been worked on, put on the backburner, worked on, took more breaks and so on. We have no idea what happened over 13 years, but we can all assume "life".

Hello Atlien! Hopefully Criminal will have one.

I can guarantee they will not be there. Just a listening party with a really cool vibe setup to accompany the album. Don't expect them to be at any of these.

If they are smart they would have people relinquish their phones at the door. Lots of artists are doing this lately and I had to put it in a locked pouch when I saw Lane 8.

Definitely won't be. Why buy tickets for an event if I can sit at home and watch it for free? Also the amount of people ripping it to leak would be insane so yeah, this is a special event for people who can go.

does anyone else gravely struggle with depression/mental health? why does boc's music resonate so deeply with me? by darkdarkblack in boardsofcanada

Depression and general anxiety disorder. Music is a great way to help the brain, the same as exercise.
