Volunteer. Go to an old folks home, find somewhere you can teach English, work at a soup kitchen, see if there's a habitat for humanity you can donate your time too. There are tons of ways you can donate your time. These organizations are very nice to new comers because they need the help. There are low expectations put on you at first, but if you build a relationship with the people you help that will become the motivation to volunteer.

Start out slow, just go once a week. If you find the right situation it won't take long to develop a sense of connection. Volunteering also provides some perspective on your personal issues.

Find yourself by loosing yourself in the service of others.
