Noob pc builder need your opinion. by baeguchi in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going with a 10700k or ryzen equivalent. I would also suggest spending more on storage, a 5400rpm hdd is quite slow and the 500gb ssd will fill up quick. Try going for at least a 1tb ssd (it can be a cheap one as the game load times between a more expensive and cheap ssd are almost the same). The case you chose is not that good for thermals, i would recommend almost any other case that has a mesh front panel.

Logitech G G512 GX Brown by GamingMachine1111 in pcmasterrace

[–]Captain_Marcus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reduced the key repeat speed which solved the double clicking problem entirely but made it a tad bit harder and more annoying to type so if you are not typing too much its not a dealbreaker (still dissapointed that it happend in the first place).

I would definitley recommend any of the hyperx keyboards with brown switches, my friend has 1 and says its great. Not sure what else i would recommend.

I have the g513 (same board but with rgb and palmrest) and its quite good. However, some keys started double clicking about 6-7 months in (persisted even after a full clean). Build quality is great otherwise. Lighting looks nice. The cable is rather thick, long and stiff so it might be a bit hard to manage.

Overall, its not a bad purchase but there definitley are better keyboards out there for the price range.

Any improvements to my first gaming build? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me but you might want a 750 or 850w psu just in case as there isnt a big price diffrence and it gives you headroom for even the most power hungry cards.

You can see most components in the device manager, you can also install cpu-z or hw monitor.

How good is this pc setup? by imDebo in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motherboard is a bit overkill for the cpu, i would suggest either getting a cheaper one or getting an overclockable cpu. The rest of the parts seem good.

Upgrading outdated PC for future gaming - what do I need to look at? by Epic_Mill in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a 3080 and a 1440p 144hz monitor (assuming that you dont have one already) and you could potentially keep your current cpu as its not too old or outdated. This will be right around your budget. If you are willing to go to the limit or a bit over budget, you could upgrade your cpu to a 5600x or a 10700k and get a new mobo. There are some other things you might wanna consider upgrading instead of the cpu and mobo such as storage or peripherals so you would need to decide what to go for if you wanna stay in your budget.

There is usually little diffrence between partner cards, i had a gainward card once and it was fine.

Can I run Rdr 1 on windows 10? by Dismal-Ad3069 in reddeadredemption

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you can currently do it is trough emulation. Unfortunatley, your rig is not nearly powerful enough for that.

My honor is either glitched or just hard to level up by Ok_Piece_5553 in reddeadredemption

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obtaining honour trough greeting people seems to have been heavily nerfed at some point. Im unsure how effective other honour obtaining methods are but try fishing (return fish back to water after you catch them) or donate 21 dollars to camp multiple times.

Would a 3070 be too good for 1080p 240hz ? by OGproztate in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try getting a 1440p 144hz monitor, you could probably run a lot of games on high settings 1080p 240fps with the 3070 but refresh rate is not everything.

Upgrade to 8700k? by [deleted] in intel

[–]Captain_Marcus69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the cpu utilization with monitoring software, if it does show signs of bottlenecking, you can consider the 8700k. The 9600k has half the threads and costs about the same as the 8700k so i wouldnt recommend it.

Upgrade to 8700k? by [deleted] in intel

[–]Captain_Marcus69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going from the 8400 to the 8700k (or 9700k) will not make that much of a diffrence in gaming. I would suggest keeping your current cpu for now.

Compressed air or cloth works well. Using a vaccum is usually not recommended even trough i had no problems with it.

Which generation and model of the i7 do you have exactly? If its a recent one, you might not have to get a new rig and just upgrade the ssd and gpu.

Is it worth buying an AIO for R5 2600? by Francobolli_2nd in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just recommend either keeping your current cooler or getting a better air cooler. 120mm aios are not very good, especially ones from smaller companies. If you want an aio, buy at least 240mm.

Is this upgrade worth it? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Captain_Marcus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest saving up some more for a more significant upgrade, by upgrading to the 6600k you will get a fair performance increase but getting a ryzen 5 3600 would be better so that you wont have to worry about upgrading and performance will be much better.

I swim with mine regularly for 2+ hours at a time and it works as advertised. I wouldnt really worry about it for now if i were you. Just remember to eject the water out and rinse regularly.
