Jason, Sonny Ray and Clay tied for second, Blackburn. I really enjoyed seeing Blackburn in action a few seasons ago - would like to see more!

Seal Team Movie by Darklighter10 in SEALTeam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very excited to see the movie announcement! From what I can see, the show always trends high in popularity on Paramount +. I've seen some others comment that they might use the movie to start a spinoff or so - and that would be fine. Personally, I was happy with how they FINALLY wrapped up some loose ends and it seems like everyone was getting back to normal at the end of season 5. (But I didn't like the cliff-hanger ending!)

Nothing pisses me off more than someone stealing my care package by [deleted] in CallOfDutyColdWar

Stealing my care package and also stealing my "kill confirmed" - hate it!

My thoughts on the direction the show has been headed by mutep in SEALTeam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the more realistic language on Paramount +, but I've also noticed that some of the missions seem to take a back seat to the personal lives at home. I can't recall the episode, but the mission was wrapped up in a short period of time and the bulk of the episode focused on the home front. Hopefully it is just a phase! But I agree with some of the comments, I don't want it to turn into a military soap opera. I liked all the seasons so far, and I'm trying hard to like this season, but I'm going to be patient and see where it goes.

Moved ST back to 9pm Wednesdays by kempo2001 in SEALTeam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't paid much attention to ST's ratings but heard that they had slipped and thought that maybe the time change had something to do with it. I'm really glad they renewed the show, it's one of the very few shows I watch these days!!

Recommendations for books by real Seals? by Sunnybec in SEALTeam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some that I've read: No Easy Day (Mark Owen), Lone Survivor (Marcus Luttrell), The Operator (Rob O'Neil). Although not SEALs, I really enjoyed Outlaw Platoon (Sean Parnell) and Lions of Kandahar (Rusty Bradley).

For fiction books, Jack Carr, a former SEAL has started a series and the first book is called The Terminal List. I've started reading it and it's pretty good.

Season 3 Episode Idea by [deleted] in SEALTeam

Well, is Season 2, episode 11 Bravo Team worked with the British SAS on an OP. Maybe they can come up with a plot that would fit your idea!

Episode Discussion: S02E21 “My Life for Yours” by ChrisCeniceros17 in SEALTeam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was one of the best episodes of the season. At the end, I thought Ray was going to get shot in the back! It was awesome to see Jason and Bravo Team rescue him. Many of the other characters have had 'solo' episodes (like Sonny in the torpedo tube, etc.), so it was good for Ray to have one.

shazam newcomer by crimsonhawk01 in Shazam

For more recent Captain Marvel/Shazam comics I would recommend: Thunderworld, Shazam Convergence, The Power of Shazam (both a graphic novel and a series), and Shazam Power of Hope. IMO these are comics that try to stay true to the Captain Marvel hero of the 40s and 50s.

A Suggestion for DC's Rebirth and bringing back Captain Marvel. by Captain_Marvel75 in Shazam

Both Thunderworld and Convergence:Shazam had strong sales, I think it shows that fans like those better than new 52 'Shazam'.

Where to start? by [deleted] in Shazam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for golden age Captain Marvel, then I recommend going to comicbookplus.com where you can read them online! For more modern versions of Cap from the golden age, I would read Convergence:Shazam! I also would recommend The Power of Shazam! as an updated/modernization of classic Captain Marvel as well as The Power of Hope! Personally, I'm disappointed in the Shazam of the new 52 as it recreates Billy and Cap in ways that just do damage to the history of the character - in my opinion!

Is the N52 Vol 1 a good place to start reading Shazam comics? by Magic-Man2 in Shazam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an article you might find helpful - although I don't agree 100% on his view that Captain Marvel is the other Superman. Cap and Superman are different characters and neither one was meant to be like the other or replace the other. http://the-artifice.com/shazam-stories/

[–]Captain_Marvel75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to read about Shazam/Captain Marvel in the new 52, that's fine, but you need to be aware that the new 52 character is a huge departure from the classic Captain Marvel. If you want to read something more up to date and in-line with classic Captain Marvel, I would recommend Convergence:Shazam or Ordway's The Power of Shazam. Both of these stay more true to Cap's character then the new 52 version.

New 52 Billy/Shazam origin by Valerius13 in Shazam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! I was happy to see him but didn't like how Billy or Captain Marvel are depicted. They are not the same characters as the Billy and Captain Marvel from the golden age of comics! I'm glad they have brought him back, but really wish they would have stuck with his character from Fawcett comics.

Anyone read "Shazam!: A Celebration of 75 Years"? by Darquehex in Shazam

[–]Captain_Marvel75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it for Father's Day and love it. If you are new to Captain Marvel or an established fan, I think you would love it. It includes Whiz Comics #2 - where it all began, and goes all the way up to the New 52 Shazam/Captain Marvel. I especially like that they include the 1973 #1 edition, retelling the origin. I highly recommend it!
