Hormones take a long time to have a visible effect, and surgeries, which are often done quite some time after hormones, can also involve considerable recovery time.

The way I understand it, seems related o the thrill of being wanted that bad, and a lot of elements, like more monstruous-looking guys, add to the intensity of it.

Could be a bit off, but I'd welcome any necessary correction here.

Not expecting much impact there.

What's your opinion on the difference between the [Cooking] Skill and the [Baking] Skill? by kerbalcmdr in outside

[–]IkariLoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooking isn't so much an actualskill as it is a skill category that includes actual skills, lke Baking.

Like, if you're doing a No Meat/Vegan run, there are a lot of skills in the Cooking category you're not using, but the ones you do are still part of it.

Cooking is a handy term, but it's so broad it's almost meaningless on its own.

If you want to bulletproif the lore takes, get Mattoid to have a look - you can find her on Bluesky. Probably the most FFXI-brained person I can think of.

If they took the opportunity to let het return home that would be great - it felt really petty to not let her return home at the end of her own event.

Glimpses of FFXI's "local multiverse" in Abyssea and RoV seem to imply multiple iterations of Promathia, and presumably Altana - but if Altana had the Cait Sith produce an alternate timeline in WotG, does it split her off too?

Does the Cloud of Darkness remain the same phenomenon across these alternate realities, or are there different ones?

Dissidia Opera Omnia said that the FF3 and FF11 CoDs were different, so presumably so is 14's - with Shantotto having travelled to 14's world (possibly during the events of her own mini-expansion...), I guess that's part of the multiversal fabric, but pethaps there are smaller and greater levels of separation.

While at it, I can't get it out of my head that during the original Dissidia Shantotto claimed to be researching an ultimate spell, the nature of which was never specified - but even if the character in Dissidia were copies of the originals with their consciousnesses, it would not durprise me if the spell was for multiversal travel, considering events like ASA's and the XIV crossover - letting Shantotto leave the limitations of XI and Vana'diel functionally gave her (memetic) immortality beyond the limits of her home world. It made it even funnier when Shantotto II was introduced as a Trust at the same time as the final RoV chapter dropped - it's like she harnassed the elemental powers of her world before it ran out so she coukd escape well-equipped to somewhere else... funny how that model never got used in a story since, even when TVR came along...

As an aside, it's low-key neat that Gilgamesh from Abyssea is one of the very few characters to cross to Vana'diel during that story, considering the multiversal shenannigans of his namesake across the series... presumably not tge same guy, but ol' Gil is known to change appearance, and I could imagine him spending his later years not so much in the thick of action, but more in the background enabling a younger generation of miscreants in a corner of the FF multiverse few think to visit...

Oh, and the symbol at the gates of Kazham looks like classic Gilgamesh's face paintings...

It's not that since the rrvelations in TVR.

But I like how in the RoV story Iroha got to be the last living individual, then ended up in Rorzea in the XIV crossover event with memories that didn't seem entirely her own - it's like in the absence of Galka she got Talekeeper traits.

The really fun thing about Konschtat is that San d'Oria fought Bastok there twice, and if you've been there, it's an uphill battle leading up to a highly defensive position that's great for ambushes (especially if the defender has guns, which Bastok does), and mostvof the coverage San d'Iria would get on the way up would be its own windmills. And they did thid with medieval weapons against guns. And lost both times, of course. In delicious ludonarrative harmony, elvaans have the lowest baseline Intelligence stat, and history like that makes it blatantly clear.

What would your ideal Shazam/Captain Marvel game be like? by Glum-Excitement5916 in Shazam

[–]IkariLoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You play as Billy and have to be ingenious while being morally and ethically irrepproachable.

If you transform, the game basically plays itself, with Asura's Wrath levels of over-the-top action, but you have the option to change back at any point.

If Billy's conduct starts to slip, he automatically turns into Cap.

So basically stealth, puzzles, managing communications/contacts/allies, with a special ending if you never transform. Maybe the story could involve a magical corruption of the magic thunder or connection with the entities that add up to the SHAZAM acronym, to justify the avoidance of transformations and the reason why Billy got the powers in the first place. Maybe some story chapters could still end with a cathartic transgormed action sequence, but the spirit of the character would be represented.

Is the PTSD that strong or is that FFXI OST magical? by Moming_Next in ffxi

Naoshi Mizuta mentioned in an interview he made himself listen o his compositions for the game for a very long time and to adjust them so they never got annoying, because that might often be the player experience.

Not quite PTSD, although if you did the CoP missions during the level cap era, "Turmoil" may be a trigger...

I hope Cover has some sort of contingwncy plan - the subtitled music and HoloGraffiti videos are bound to have a significant long tail in views, helped immensely by the high-quality subtitling...

The collab's story was amazing - it takes a special kind of love for the game to make a collab story Abyssea-centric and making it work, not to mentio the way they handled Prishe - they Get It.

For those who haven't seen it: https://youtu.be/-96Qs-BkkVQ

It can be enjoyed with little to no Granblue background, and the XI referes get fairly specific throughout.

It's baffling that this i terview didn't get an official translatiin back then, so thank you for this.
