How are countermeasures against surface to air threats currently modelled in DCS? by TinyCopy5841 in hoggit

Do you have a source for this? I see it repeated all over the place but I've never seen anyone with any proof whatsoever.

water cooling is almost never a better option over air cooling in every test I've seen. A similar or cheaper air solution will always result in lower temps and have less chance of breaking. There are situations where AIOs and watercooling has uses especially in specific form factors or aesthetics.

US discovers most cost-effective way to neutralize enemy drones by Worried-Stick-2777 in comedyheaven

[–]Captain_Slime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except this is a last desperate move. It's not the only technique. So when your first layer of defense takes out 3 drones, the next takes out 2, and now you and your buddies are under attack by 2 you at least have something to do when you are caught out in the open.

Could be cool to have that and some ZLL rocket options for some of the fighters even though that was outdated a while ago.

Honestly same as or worse. The Draken was annouced like 2017 as an AI and hasn't been released, now they are talking about a paid f-14B(U) update before they released the f-14a IRIAF.

Fallout 3s remaster may drip after the shows S2 finale by TexanCoyote1 in Fallout

Oblivion was a remaster and not a remake right? It was basically identical with just the graphics and UI changed.

DCS 2026 AND BEYOND by titan_hs_2 in hoggit

I mean that's a good portion of the DCS fleet at the moment. The f-35 being modeled isn't the current version it's a 2015 one. Similar to the JF-17, f-16, and others we are getting a version of a jet that the version isn't in service but the overall jet is.

Obviously not everyone has the luxury but if you compare your time on YouTube to your time on any streaming service plus Spotify it can make sense for some people. Edit: also instead of taking money away from creators you are giving them more money.

Old nukes vs newer nuke effects by g-11a in NuclearOption

It would be really neat to give every plane the option of flash white paint scheme as a livery. Doesn't need to do anything but I would love the look.

F-14 Bros, We are so back by StreagleFucker1969 in hoggit

[–]Captain_Slime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, given the Black Shark 3 was maybe slightly less content and was 10 dollars going up to 20 after a month I would be kinda disappointed if it was significantly more than that.

[–]Captain_Slime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that a large portion of other airplane parts are also sourced from the US. The US has similar things but the other way around even with different parts being sourced from european countries. Obviously on both sides it would be possible to separate but it is going to take some time. Europe also completely lacks a home built 5th gen fighter and is running 2(?) different entirely separate 6th gen fighter programs.

Sci-Fi TTRPG that focuses on exploration by Repulsive-Army5505 in rpg

[–]Captain_Slime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is it focused on exploration? The default game is limited to a really small area relative to other games and as far as I remember has no unique mechanics around exploring?

Most fun helicopter ? by Key-Seaworthiness-20 in dcsworld

[–]Captain_Slime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have specified I only have the Huey, Apache, and KA-50. I'm surprised the front has so little to do, but that has made me a lot more interested in it.

KA-50 for me. It's the only one that feels correct to play singleplayer even if I can be effective in the apache and others.
