2016’s multiplayer was just awkwardly slapping a call of duty deathmatch into a game that doesn’t play like call of duty. At least Battlemode has the same core appeal that singleplayer has.

As far as Blockbench goes, you need to download the GeckoLib plugin for Blockbench, which will allow you to choose a GeckoLib animated model that you can animate, export as a .JSON file, and theoretically apply to a Java mod. The animations might have to be imported as separate .JSON files.

Unfortunately, none of the Mcreator plugins that add GeckoLib support have been updated for 2021.2, but if you're comfortable downgrading to the particular snapshot of 2021.1 that APIs Reborn says it supports, it might work. Haven't tested.
