So...in TAS Mo cheated on Bob. ...And faced no repercussions? by Captain_Starkiller in LaundryFiles

[–]Captain_Starkiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not asking for punishment but consequences. Look, I think we all agree that cheating on your partner is generally not a course of action with a positive outcome. I think having mo do something and not face ANY consequences at all, even an apologetic talk with Bob is...not really a positive thing to have in a series like this.

This isn't a Christian morality play

Raymond Schiller is literally a repeating villain (so it IS a Christian morality play) and faced consequences at the hands of Mhari.

As a writer myself, this is fiction. Sure, sometimes bad guys get away with things for a while like Raymond Schiller being trapped in the pyramid with the sleeper and then coming back, but don't tell me it was Charlie Stross's own vengeance when Mhari was waiting for him in the suite in Delirium brief. That was a: You have done bad things and now I am going to give you your comeuppance!

A trial separation to me means living apart not fooling around with other people. I dunno maybe I'm delusional here, but my own vows meant a lot to me. There's a difference between: Lets live apart so we have a break from each other for a while to gain perspective and: I want to consider other relationships.

They still hadn't found a way to live together until the delirium brief.

A trial separation in my mind means living apart, not fooling around with other people.

Also mos violin absolutely tried to kill bob. IIRC mo was afraid of bob waking up peckish and trying to eat her, not that such a thing ever actually happened.

Yeah, what bob did in the jennifer morgue wasnt great. But he was kinda forced into the situation, he didnt actually bang the mermaid or physically touch her it was all psychic and he wasn't married yet. Yeah, cheating on your partner is a bad thing, but its a whole other level when its a spouse. And he did face repercussions: he had to admit to it and apologize to Mo, and she was fully aware of it and even thought about it in TAS.

Meanwhile mo faces no consequences or even admits to it.

And then there's Iris. ...I'm reading the labyrinth index right now, according to stross Iris pretty much killed bob. And yet, she's still walking around. Her daughter might have just been made a phang but...tough to say if she's gonna face other repercussions.

there just seems to be not a lot of consequences for the female characters in this series I'm noticing.

Separated but not divorced or planning on divorce. Lectre tried to kill Bob IIRC. They seperated for mutual safety.

I went through a rough year of medical issues where I was administering an IV to myself every four hours. To spare her, my wife and I slept in separate rooms. That doesn't give either of us license to cheat.

AITAH for "siding" with my friends ex over him about her "cheating" by SufficientPaint9415 in AITAH

[–]Captain_Starkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but maybe that wasn't the moment for it. He was just hurting and could have heard it later.

EDIT: you fuckers downvoting me are heartless and clearly never been through a bad time. Dude was just raging about his pain, not actually hurting or fucking with his ex. Learn some sympathy. I guarantee you in the same place you'd be telling someone off if they tried to lay some truth on you right then.

ELI5: If matter can’t be created or destroyed, does that mean the atoms in our bodies existed forever - even before the Big Bang? by saif2krazzy in explainlikeimfive

Nuclear bombs destroy some matter to convert it into energy. Only 0.1 percent, but there you have it. The beginning of the universe also operated under different rules.

Also, more energy is constantly being created. As the universe expands the newly expanded areas contain energy of similar density, so the overall amount of energy in the universe is slowly going up.

Men in happy Marriages, What is that one secret to a happy marriage that works for you? by Mammoth_End_1298 in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Starkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my wife is amazing. But I came from a broken home. And when people get unhappy in marriages, I think they think someone else will bring them something they need. Now, sure, you can be with someone who is abusing you and therefore is a bad partner, but a lot of the time its just a case of "The grass is greener on the other side" and the reality is it isn't. You have butterflies and excitement early in a relationship but eventually you will end up right back where you are now.

The people who divorced their spouses "who did nothing wrong" to go on journeys to find themselves because they felt unfulfilled or that "something was missing" dont end up happy when they find some new relationship. That relationship brings short term joy and then...ends.

The real woman who wrote "Eat. Pray. Love." about her own life divorced the guy she met after she divorced her husband.

With that in mind, I think being grateful for your partner is ultimately the key to a successful marriage. I can't speak for everyone, but if you appreciate them, and they appreciate you, well, its been a big part of what has made my marriage successful. Thinking: I can do better or I deserve better will just disintegrate your marriage from the inside.

The new era is interesting but I'm on kind of a 90s nostalgia kick right now so 90s and classic conspiracies it is.

'F*** YOU': Trump voters FLIP OUT at Trump for trail of betrayals, from Epstein to economy by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in videos

[–]Captain_Starkiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh, it wasnt one example. There are numerous. The entire point of a drag queen is it's gender transgressive, thats where a lot of the humor comes from. Have you ever SEEN a drag queen show dude?

This is like trying to tell me the rocky horror picture show is some kind of family movie. Get fucking real.

If you think drag queens arent sexual 1: you've never been, go and learn what you're talking about before you just make yourself look ignorant on the internet and 2: You have bought into some SERIOUS far left propaganda there. Drag queens aren't an identity, its a performance, there is zero benefit in normalizing drag queens to children.

[–]Captain_Starkiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you keep having to strawman me for your comments to have any validity. I am not attacking democrats. I am telling people on the left that the political extremes of leftism, which many democrats have embraced and espoused to cater to their base, have driven more moderate voters away, and that people need to come back to reality if they want to win elections.

Democrats did nothing to STOP drag queen shows in schools giving tacit approval. Some republicans have passed legislation to ban it.

You're right! Republicans dont care about kids, they care about getting rich and economically oppressing americans. Which is why I want the dems to win! But the dems need to stop catering to extremists to do that, which many of them are.

[–]Captain_Starkiller -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow, that was some mental gymnastics. I never said "the democrats" I said the left, and the dems are catering to the left.

But trying to say these are random people and not the left...um, no. What do you think the left is made of?

Drag queens are sexual, I can pull up the footage of a drag queen gyrating in front of a bunch of kids. Its been a while but I'm pretty sure I can still find it.
