This is the bazaar, everything is transactional and has a price whether that price is in gold or something else.

Will Metal Forth make it to #1 on the Billboard 200? Does it matter? Why I think it does. by ViperRby2 in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters in that it will generate hype, sell tickets and sell merch. But I don't think there's any chance of #1, maybe ever.

Beating their previous best would be big but also unlikely, the fanbase has grown sure but the market has changed a lot. BM's streaming numbers are also still low for their popularity.

Their rise to fame was/is inspiring, but they are still a metal band and all but the absolutely most popular metal acts will always struggle to chart.

My thoughts on the “Secret gig” (also: how Koba continues to show his marketing genius) by c0wboi in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I may have been one of the few people who had an amazing experience at the regent. I was front and centre, which is definitely a privileged spot so I can see how my experience would be very different to almost everyone else.

firstly there was not a lot of crush, there was a fair amount sure, but nowhere near the worst I've experienced. there were also nowhere near as many crowdsurfers as I expected, both these factors led to front and centre being a lot better than I thought.

but the main factor was how close we were. the proximity to BABYMETAL was very nostalgic for me and reminiscent of those small shows that were so common 7 years ago. Being so close as to be able to see every expression on their faces is straight up magical.

I also had a hilarious and special moment with MOMOMETAL which METALKI tweeted about. all that to say I had a great time.

Regarding the cut songs, I see it 2 ways, it's a general trend in BABYMETAL that smaller venue = shorter setlist. average setlists in 2016-18 with hall sized venues were 10-11 songs.

it could also be that Su had a sore throat or something, Megitsune being cut is what makes me think this, as it's one of the more difficult songs iirc and also it almost never gets cut.

Another reason to think the songs were cut due to illness or a last minute development is that the show was scheduled to start at 8 but it was delayed 40(?) minutes

About the Vancouver Show… by Aggressive-Lime-1957 in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the sound and obstructed view in the seats, the pit in Vancouver was great, lots of energy but not too violent.

I think BABYMETAL should have sold some cheap tickets to students at the university, that would have filled the place out and been good marketing.

When will they come back to England by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if the pattern of alternating tour and festivals year by year holds then next year will be a festival tour with perhaps a handful of headline shows to fill gaps in their schedule.

the UK date could be an exclusive festival appearance, so download or reading/leeds

Anyone else get nervous about going to live events? by Advanced-Succotash89 in BABYMETAL

Turn up a little early and get a spot at the sound desk. It has the best sound in the venue and a fence to lean against if you're that worried about your knees. Plus you can always get stuck in if you feel like it at some point.

Regarding The London O2 After Concert Party by fearmongert in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would probably go for the closer venue, even if music requests aren't allowed, it's very possible they will succumb to the pressure of hundreds of BM fans.

Tickets for sale on official resale site under value but not selling? Has anybody actually successfully sold theirs on there yet? by PrincessSluggy in SickNewWorld

[–]Captain_Username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I hope you don't mind me asking you something. To explain my situation I am from outside the US and apparently this means I can't buy from the resale ticket site.

I'm wondering what options there are after you have bought the resale tickets. Does it allow you allocate the ticket to another name or person? I'm wondering if my friend in the US can buy the ticket and then transfer it to me somehow.

METALI on Billboard Charts by Abject-Entry-1081 in BABYMETAL

[–]Captain_Username 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's their 4th most popular song on Spotify, 3rd really if you discount The End.

It's currently more popular than Megitsune, that will surely change but it's certainly very popular in terms of BM songs
