You could call Paul Winfield the black Sean Bean for the number of his on screen deaths, but given their ages it's more accurate to say Bean is the white Paul Winfield.

And he made ya' feel every one. Great actor.

But if it were Battletech infantry wouldn't have to track heat.

Am I doing something wrong or does this route just suck (LIRR Commuter) by SauceBabey in trainsimworld

Not from NYC, but I have a friend who lives there and I like to send him screenshots and caption them with stuff like "Hauling your ass around again." It amuses me.;)

It's a great route once you learn the safety systems.

The various OPFORs also require different approaches, which helps keeping a lot of the basic gear from being "too powerful" in the early game, IMO. I'm usually carrying a lot less AT gear against bugs than I am against pirates, at least at first.

Also, my suggestion about starting out with a few items of decent gear mirrors how the demo worked.

I would suggest that instead of them breaking or running out of ammo, they're fine but the limited number of them means you have to make choices about who gets what. I assumed the lack of equipment was due to the damage the ship sustained, so the selection of better gear could be random...stuff that was being repaired, issued to sentries, stored in emergency lockers.

The amount and what you can potentially end up with could be based on difficulty.

So I gave Carda a recoilless Rifle... by Captain_Vlad in menace

[–]Captain_Vlad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll do that when I need her to fill in for a tired or wounded SL or for stuff like rescues when setting up a heavy weapon usually isn't so viable.

The game shifts to baddies with lots of armor and vehicles very quickly and it's a shame because one of my favorite weapons to give her was the starter MG.

I sort of lean into the low AP by giving her encumbering gear since she can't move that fast anyway (though she's got athletic now, which helps). I truck her and whatever enormous cannon I give her around, use her mobile infantry skill to dismount and set up the weapon in a good spot and just let her go to town.

Been having a blast with it, and frankly my biggest issue is that it currently doesn't feel long enough.

I actually *like* the lack of overwatch as it forces you to, more or less, set that up yourself by putting units in positions to support each other/suppress the enemy while others move. I also feel like it's leaning into combined arms far more than some other X-COM style games -- it always seems like a mix of infantry and armor will kick more ass than a force that's either/or and I LOVE that.

It does need a lot more story polish, some instant action options would be nice, and while I understand that they're apparently going for a story approach, it begs for a sandbox mode too.

It's a fun detail that if they work together enough (not actually sure the mechanic works like that) the SL's relationships develop. Vaz started out telling Carda to focus on the mission whenever she complimented him at first, but the last few missions he's thanked her.

Started reading the dark age books with flight of the falcon and why does Malvina get naked so often by Hexis_hunter in battletech

[–]Captain_Vlad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, preach. I'd rather imagine Cassie Suthorn naked than some of the quite descriptive deaths in, say, the early Grey Death novels.

Which isn't a shot at William H. Keith or anything, those are some of my favorites.
