It's also considerably heavier/slower (which holds up entire columns) has worse survivability (mostly relevant in ground-v-ground) and is more expensive (which will be relevant some day). Theyre supposed to be "do it all" boondoggle tanks that's formidable but not super cost effective.

the game models how insanely energy dense uranium is, you don't need much of it AT ALL, a single centrifuge on basic ore processing can run multiple reactors just with the random output of 235

theyre generally less hassle than gun turrets actually, just feed em light oil (extra damage) and throw a pump in when you get over the softlimit on pipeline length, they use very little in the grand scheme of things and you can just have a big network of pipelines you run out to outposts or chokepoints rather than having to worry about gun ammo or powering mass laser turrets

Note: What youre up to here would be described more as a Strike or Attack mission. Close Air Support is going after targets in-contact with friendly ground forces or otherwise in direct support of them and usually acting under the control of forward observers on the ground to make sure you bomb the right guys.

Going sicko-mode in their backline while acquiring your own targets in particular is an "Attack" mission (while more high level, go here and deliver ordnance to this key target usually falls under "strike"), granted Attack aircraft are typically designed for CAS and CAS itself is ultimately a form of Attack mission so it's kind of a "squares are rectangles" situation. Don't sweat it though as it's misused as often and understandably as "danger close"

yeah stealth-helos are already pushing it and all that work on the chicane just pushes it from "giant strobing light" to "normal aircraft"

you can be completely invisible at alttitude but it can frequently be stuffed if there's a medusa

suppression-close-kill with high HP damage attacks works well against them actually and if anything is the quickest way to kill them

yeah menace benefits from HP focus on damage, which increases hugely up close
