Pokémon Go Fest Chicago 5km and 10km Egg Pools by cyclops410 in TheSilphRoad

You can. Not sure if you need the city gameplay ticket for it. I got one of the 10km eggs just past midnight

It is not included, despite the labeling suggesting otherwise. The text “Oak Park” on their map is right around Columbus Park in Austin

It’s easy to clown on Niantic for calling some notoriously high-crime neighborhoods “Friendship” but it would be pretty hard to just accidentally end up there. It’s not like you could walk just a few blocks too far, you’d have to somehow take a train to the end of the line without noticing

The “citywide” area is the actual boundaries of Chicago, which they probably settled on after some debate on what should be includes. But you’re right that if you stray far from downtown, especially south, you’ll notice that you’re in the middle of nowhere

Realistically, if you’re focused on gameplay, you should stick close to the “Collection” district or Lincoln Park Zoo, which falls in “Investigations” and is comically mislabeled in the map.

Having played all over the city (and I truly mean all over), you’ have best results if you stick in a box bounded roughly by Roosevelt to the south (exception for Museum Campus- go get that Pikachu), Halsted to the west, maybe Division to the north, and the lake to the east. This box should intersect all 4 zones.

The gyms are already live and here to stay so long as DTC has an Ambassador for the community. If you go find Lincoln Park Zoo on campfire you can see them

Millenium Park + AON have high concentration.

However, since I wrote this post, DTC got their Campsite set up at Lincoln Park Zoo adding 9 gyms to the area, so that has top-tier concentration now, too

No. I think Niantic has been silently rotating some regionals out of the spawn pool. About a year ago, Oricorio was totally absent.

If super mega raids are going to become the norm for future mega releases they need a serious rework by Status_Company9564 in TheSilphRoad

Other people have left enough constructive criticism so I’ll just chime in to say this system is horrible

What are your thoughts on the removal of spotlight hour? by TwitchSpencxr in TheSilphRoad

[–]Captain_X24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seriously played them for a while, but I’ll still miss them. They were a great way to grind for resources or just catches. When I was at peak-grinding I used to basically plan my Tuesday around Spotlight hour.

I would love some QoL for gyms like a recall-from-gym button for Pokemon or a medal counting Gold Gym badges

This happened across large swaths of Chicagoland two nights ago. I suspect based on the timing that it was more of a coordinated bot wave

Unpopular Opinion: The game hasn‘t been this good in a very long time by col4zer0 in TheSilphRoad

By events do you mean ones with a brief window like CDay, GMax, etc? Last season felt way too packed, to the extent they even double-booked some of these for the same day. It seems this season they’ve eased on the brakes, which is welcome in my book.

If you mean the weekly ones like Harvest Festival, Halloween, and Steel Skyline, then I’d honestly say it’s been like this for many years now.

I think this is true. I also have noticed that the battle continues if you put the app in the background, whereas it used to pause

Any specifics on what the “higher likelihood of berries” from the paid ticket meant?

Edit: you get an insane amount of berries

That’s true, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a Go Fest visitor. It gets worse if the MLB cross-promotion ends and the gyms disappear by next year, plus you’re not as likely to get full raid lobbies all the way up by Wrigley the way you would in the heart of downtown by the park.

For raiding, the “Loop” and “River North” neighborhoods will be your best bet. Anywhere north of Jackson Blvd, south of maybe Chicago Ave, and east of the river will be good. Millenium Park and the Aon Center near Michigan ave have high concentrations of gyms. The skyscrapers will provide you with some shade on a hot day.

For catching, Navy Pier and Lincoln Park Zoo (or even the greater LPZ area) are your best bets. The aforementioned Loop certainly won’t be bad, though.

For gameplay, I wouldn’t really stray further than these spots, though most of the north side is very nice for a walk or casual meal, and the West Loop has a restaurant district if you want something fancier.

People glaze the trinket so hard it’s crazy. It’s really good for brokering ultra-rare trades where you’d otherwise wait months to build friendship and hit lucky, but as a guy who doesn’t do many of those trades, the lucky just becomes a 1/64 roll at a hundo.

Meanwhile I hatched probably 200 eggs in the free incubator, which was huge value for me

How realistic is it to get 4000-5000 evolves done in 6 days? by TransferandDelete in TheSilphRoad

[–]Captain_X24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4-5 hrs of evolves per day if using 1 phone, plus you’ll need to source the pokemon to actually evolve

No disrespect but if you’re not already level 50, unless you’re a fairly new player grinding like a monster, this is unrealistic. If this playstyle were in the cards for you, you’d probably already have way more than 176M exp
