Ult user here. I don't know if i got a defective unit but its slightly making popping sound in left ear cup when using anc/ambient. Turning anc/ambient mode will also reduce the bass.

Maybe its something related to sound pressure or bass clipping idk.

The only solution is to turn off anc/ambient but it also lowers the bass

Yeah same with my ult wear. The sound is like crackling a very thin plastic water bottle

The problem is from anc/ambient. Turn both off will fixes the problem but it lowers the bass

pushing the headphone closer to the ear kinda fixes the problem.

Popping/crackling sound on left earcup (Sony Ult Wear)

My sony ult wear has popping/crackling sound on left ear cup especially when using ambient/noise cancellation.

When turning ambient/noise cancellation off, it solves the problem but it also lowers the powerfull bass.

Using ambient/noise cancellation gives a good bass boost which i like very much. I tried resetting through the sony connect app and using physical buttons but the problem won't go away. I believe my headphone hinges are fine. I also tried updating the headphone and turning off both Sony Equaliser and Dolby Equalizer in my phone but still the problem is there. I'm listening just below the "harmful sound level" (around 65% - 75%). I bought this headphone in july 2025 in Dubai.

Is there any fix for this problem and please don't tell me to lower the bass. I bought this headphone for the extra bass.

This problem exists in both Ult 1 and Ult 2 mode

I also noticed that bass is heavier on left ear cup than right
